First of all I'm trying to create a validator that checks to see that if both players have entered a nickname. If they don't then it should automatically close the form but instead the application hangs. If the first player uses three tries then it "should" automatically close. Here it is:

I have a class that needs to check for errors in the data contained in a object.The routines that will check for errors could be implemented in concrete interfaces of supertype IErrorCheck. That way error checks can be discrete and added or removed from the class that requests the error checks.Each IErrorCheck implementation would be programmed against the supertype IErrorCheck (Strategy).But it would be nice not to recompile when checks are added or removed.Is there an accepted procedure for abstracting the error checks all the way out of the program, such as to read the checks from a file?

I wanted to create a function that checks to see what button has been clicked on the windows form. For example If I had 10 generic buttons that open up different audio files. I would I create one Sub that can verify which button has been selected. I was either going to use a case statement or an if else. I did not want to create one sub for each button since it would be a lot of duplication in code.

basically I've got a vb.net script connecting to IRC, and I'm working on making it a basic chat system, but I've run into a problem.

I want to grab specific information to output to the user.

I want to grab nickname and message

How can I go about doing this?I thought about using regex, but I can't figure out how to make regex grab message since there's nothing after it.

I want to create a program that checks the characters of the string "George123" . If a number is found in the string then a message box will pop up. Here is where the problem lies. I created a for loop that inspects each character of the string George123 and when it reaches the number 123 the message box pops up. The only problem with the message box is that it appears 3 times as there are three numbers in the string. So my question is how do i exit a for loop right after the first number is found in the string.

I am creating a Yahtzee game, the first thing I want my game to do when it loads is ask for the player/players name/names, so that there scores can be saved to a high scores table.I have decided to add a text file to my project as a start and I was thinking of using an array to add the score for the winner at the end of each game.I am stuggling on how to really start this though. I have come up with an idea, I could do with some advise as to weather my idea is any good.First thing, I need to add a text file and call it something like HighScores..Then I need to add a Windows Form to my project and add some controls for the user/users to fill in there name/names..How can I get my Windows Form for the players names to load when the application is started, do I use a form load event???

I decided to take up the task of writing an app for Dungeons and Dragons. I play with my friends and I'm trying to make it a little bit easier.Before every round of combat players roll dice for Initiative. It basically tells the games manager who goes first and in what order the rest of the players go. When players roll for initiative they roll 20 sided dice. On Form1 I have a button that says "Initiative" which opens another window where the manager would type in each players values. Then I want the program to take those values and order the players from highest to lowest in a list on Form1. Kind of like...

Well I am trying to make a 2 player game but both players can't move at once unless they tap the keys (can't hold the key down or the other person can't move). How would I fix this as well as being able to go diagonally.Would this work?:Declare a bool value for each keypress below the public class thingy. Then use keyup to turn the bool off and keydown makes it go on. Then for the first player and second player I check if they are on and if they are than go to that direction...I think I would need a timer for that part but I dunno...

How do I make a continue button where the players progress is already saved? What is the code? Would I be able to make it so that the gamer can only access the levels that they have completed, they can't play the unlocked levels yet.

When i try to get half dollars to work it rounds up and then the rest of the coins say 0. How should i do this?

Now i called this function on the button click of my login form and passed the values of username and password textboxes as parameters to it. But the problem arising is that it is logging in by simply clicking the button irrespective of what is entered in the username and password textboxes.
