Im running VB.Net 2005.Inside of the program I use the line ystem.Diagnostics.Process.Start("program_) to open multiple programs. For all but one of them this works perfectly. This erros when I try to run a batch file using. System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:xx.bat") the batch file opens but then throughs a number of unreconizable java errors follow.

View 3 RepliesI am converting old VB6 code to VB.NET with ADO.NET (OleDB). This is my query that will create a blank table when ran in VB.NET, but then works when ran directly in Access. This code presumably also works in VB6, as I am using the same SQL:
SELECT qryAsOf.name, qryAsOf.type, 0 as opt, 0 as swap
INTO qryCon
FROM qryAsOf
LEFT JOIN qryLinked on qryAsOf.c = qryLinked.lc
I feel like this has something to do with the left join and select into being together, but like I said it is only VB that has an issue with it, Access handles it perfectly.Without the INTO line, this query returns all 600+ rows.
This DOES NOT WORK:
cm.CommandText = "CREATE TABLE qryCon (etc...)"
cm.ExecuteNonQuery()

The CREATE PROC that does work is fine, except I need to insert data into it later, so I get errors about how I need an updatable table. I really want the end qryCon to be a table, but I can't seem to get that to work :(

In my application, I have a call for an update to a table on my database. I know that it is executing because I get a 1 returned when checking the number of rows affected but when I look on the DB the value is not updated - I have refreshed and still no update. Here is the code, taskgrp_template is type bit and taskgrp_id is type integer. Id is also set to the correct value, as the result of my tracepoint - results listed below code.

View 5 RepliesI have a problem with a sql query. Through the query I am trying to search database for any occurrences of string (can be anything) in a column using the SQL LIKE command. The problem is that it works fine for most of the strings say john, jim, ji"m , but does not work when i include the following characters which are ( ' , { , } , and a single quotation mark). MYSQL query takes care of these special cases by putting them in [] block whenever user enters them .But i am getting the following error when i go to query the database using the GetSelectCommand() in VB.NET

I am making trying to make a program that can read the file information directly from a specified file, but I am having a lot of difficulty reading things like file comments.An example of this can be found in windows XP when you alternate / right click on any file and click on properties. You'll get a lot of extra information.Now I have a few questions about this.

Im considering making my own command line interface with custom commands etc. I was thinking the following objects would be sufficient:
Textbox - for input
Rich text box - for showing processes and output
Button - to insert input
If it can be done, how can I provide line breaks in the output on the rich textbox e.g.
line1: input instruction
Line2: <cp><textfile.txt>
Line3: I/O error, file not found, check file root.

I am trying to create a gui that will interact with an existing external console application, e.g. the user only changes information in text boxes or radio buttons and that will prompt the VB.net program to sumbit a certain set of commands. I will create a folder for the end user that has only two programs in it, the VB.exe and the OtherProgram.exe. I have tried using ProcessStart with SendKeys to send information to the terminal with limited success (errors include multiple instances opening, entering "ttttttteeeeeeexxxxxxtttttt" instead of "text") and also Shell(OtherProgram.exe) and SendKeys with the same result.
I am trying to make an easier experience for using a legacy Fortran.exe program rather than every user going though the command prompts in the terminal window.

I'm trying to make a program that has command buttons, each running a different file. I have added some files so far, but I encountered a problem with a couple of them.
For example, I want to run Zuma's Revenge! right from the program, but it is not working. If I run the game from outside the program, it runs perfectly, but when I try running it from the program, it keeps saying "Zumas Revenge! - Adventure has stopped working."
What really confused me, is that the game is running normally if I run it from its folder or by using the shortcut, while from the program it isn't.I'm using Windows 7, with Visual Basic 2010 Express.

well i tried to make this vb code execute another app *hidden*(as in window not visible) and it didnt work because the window is still fully visible.. i dont know why, i think its just because of this particular kind of exe or something..
