Numbers - Force A Calculation Result If Less Than Zero To Equal Zero?
May 18, 2012I've a very simple situation, which of course I can overcome with logic, but is there a built in VB function to ensure the following:
Dim price
Dim subsidy
if price - subsidy <= 0 then
price = 0
end if
In practical terms, I've lots of other things going on to calculate price, so I want to simplify this to:
Dim price = calculatedPrice - subsidy
and wrap that into some VB formating that ensures if price ever becomes negative it's forced to zero.
I'm thinking that a simple "Type" conversion might do it, but am not sure which type would suit.
VS 2005 - Result After Calculation (Addition Or Subtraction) Zero
Oct 14, 2011I got a problem with my calculation .The problem is after addition and subtraction calculation I only get result or answer 0, .There are not a correct answer. I try to change the datatype of the variable to decimal and double but answer is still 0.
Here is my coding.

Oct 19, 2009i have to create a mortgage calculator (I know we have killed this mortgage calculator). Has to display an amortization table to display the list after doing the calculation. Here is the actual assignment:
Write the program in VB.Net (not Web based) and have it accept user input of the amount, term and interest rate. Display the mortgage payment amount. Then, list the loan balance and interest paid for each payment over the term of the loan. The list will be longer than the screen, so use loops to display a partial list, hesitate, and then display more of the list. Insert comments to document the program.
I have created 4 buttons. Calculate, Clear, List, and Exit. The buttons all work, but the list does not. Not sure what i am doing wrong.

Is there a way to show this CustomerID in a message box?

When I have two cards match in my program, a message box will pop out and say "match". If the message box does appear, how can I then get a "1" to then be added to a text box within the program? I would like to have the points accumulate for each "match" message box that appears.
Custom Message Box (Form) Returns Result
Oct 16, 2009I've created a custom MessageBox (a Form), that has buttons Yes and No. There is a function popUp() to show the MessageBox. I would call the MsgBox in a parent as follows:
CustomMessageBox.popUp()
Now I want the message box to return a value:
Dim a as Intger = CustomMessageBox.popUp()
But this should only return once the user clicks a button in the message box.

gotResult is a Boolean = false. It the user clicks a button gotResult is changed to true.
result is a integer containing the number of the button clicked.
When I run this code, the result is returned, even if the user doesn't click a button. I understand why, because the main thread of the form is not "paused" while the user has not clicked a button. How can I pause the message box itself, until a button was clicked?
I've tried this:

I mean when the first form appears, after 3 seconds another one will appear, then after 5 seconds the second will appear. I still have problem when the message box stops, it displays all the forms together. All I want is when the message box stops, then it display the first form then stop to display the second then stop to display the last. Sep 2, 2009I've created a form which correctly displays all my fields in a recordset. I can scroll through them, add new records, delete records, etc. etc. and everything is fine. I now want to add a Search field to the form so that when the user enters a search string, it automatically searches through the dataset and refreshes the display to display the appropriate search result (i.e. populates the currently open form with the appropriate record).I have a simple database, and I have created a form (not a datagrid) for displaying the records (and to make it easy to add new records and browse through with the next and precious record buttons). BUT, to put a simple textbox on the toolstrip and enable the user to write something in it and then click a button to display the entire record containing that "something" seems imposible.
I have eleven columns in my table, and I want to search the one with the Primary Key, so there will be no confusing wich record to display.
