I have a data grid that i am getting the row count of and displaying it into a label. All works, but when there are 0 rows the label still shows 1.
This code updates the label when something changes in the datagrid:

But it just closes my program. If i comment that out then it populates just fine and doesn't close.What could i do to correct this?
I have added a column to a Datatable called CallsPerDay which is there to tell me how many telephone calls have been made on a particular day or days.Is there a datacolumn.expression which will allow me to Filter on the day, count the rows and then populate this added column with the result.

Declare some class level variables that will keep track of the sums for each column. For example:

I have a fair bit of experience with VB.NET and C# (In this case I chose VB.NET, blame my laziness), but I do most of my professional work using PHP. I have no experience what so ever in using any database with VB.NET let alone MySQL.Just FYI, at the moment I am only trying to Query the database to gather the information required to activate. The Activation wizard and algorithm building (which is finished anyway), and everything else will come soon. Textboxes are arranged in a 5x5 matrix and each text box is only restricted to either a "1" or "0" input. I need help in the code that will count all 1's in each row and column. Since this is a 5x5 arrangement, there are 5 rows and 5 columns each. I am actually making a simulation of a VRC/LRC program. There will be 2 buttons namely "Even/Odd Parity". View 18 RepliesI'm working on a client application (server is out of my control) that connects to a server and exchanges query/command datagrams. 'Milliseconds Count!' according to my project specification, meaning that the more we can shave off a send/receive process the better.
I understand that there are physical limitations like network bandwidth, internet latency, etc. Even so, I have a strong gut feeling that a lot of the latency I'm seeing is directly related to processing; it seems 'out of phase' from the latency of other network operations (albeit with significantly smaller datagrams). IE: A standard 32 byte Windows Ping returns in about 5ms consistently, our query/response datagram (468 bytes out, 1500 bytes back) returns in about 15ms consistently.
I'm also working with multiple threads to speed things up as much as possible at the client side, and it seems the more threads are involved the more latency is generated (I've seen up to 70ms of additional lag when using 3 threads as opposed to 2). In a recent Google I found something that I only glanced at, that said something about a limitation in Windows System Timing where some claim was made that any System.TimeSpan < 10ms was effectively going to be a 10ms Timespan because the Windows System Clock only 'Ticks' every 10ms. I wasn't paying attention at the time, but now I'm afraid it might be relevant and I can't find it again.

I am reading in the contents of an Excel spreadsheet to create as another file type using VB.Net. I know how to read in each row but is there a way to count the number of rows in the spreadsheet that contain data. What i need to do is find the number of rows that contain data in order to stop reading in empty rows. I know i can just search for the next "A" cell to see if it contains data and if not then stop but i would prefer to have a count of 'used' rows.
