Filling Out Text On Websites Using Document.forms?

Oct 12, 2009

I created this program to automatically post reviews I have written to this website. All the code works fine until the last line. It throws this error "Object variable or With block variable not set." I can't figure it out, because it works fine before this point when i call it on other pages.

Dim email, password As String
email = "email"
password = "password"

Filling Form From XML Document?

Apr 11, 2012

I have a class project where I am using a VB.Net form to search the XML document based on data entered into a text box and I need to return the values of the other items in the child tags. An example of the XML info is below. In the VB form, the user enters an account number and based on the account number matching one in the XML document, the remainder of the form, name, dob, etc populates form the XML into text boxes.

I'm not sure how to code this. I have attached the XML document to the VB form code with:

Dim doc = XDocument.Load("CreditApp.xml")
Dim xdoc = doc.Descendants("custData").FirstOrDefault()

I have also assigned variables to the text boxes receiving the search input from the user. The search is activated by clicking on a "Search" button in the VB form.

txtAcctNum.Text = xdoc.Element("AcctNum").Value
txtSSN.Text = xdoc.Element("SSN").Value

XML Sample:

<custData>
<FName>Ben</FName>
<LName>Dover</LName>

Forms :: Web Browser Control Navigate And Set Document Text As Well

Jun 23, 2011

In my app I am using a web browser control, I am displaying a list of files that are there in selected Directory, when the file type is of some image I do it as WebBrowser1.Navigate(sFileName), the image is then displayed in the Web Browser Control, when there is Word Doc I had code that converts the word doc to HTML and it is displayed in the WB Control all good so far, now when the file is of type xls, xlsx I am not converting the file to HTML instead I just use the navigate command and open the file in Excel so that user can then edit it and save it on his system. Now the problem is lets say I am toggling through pages in Directory first file is Image so it will be displayed next when it is Excel file then it will open the file in MS Excel but the WebBrowser COntrol has that previously opened image, I want to clear that when the excel file is opened. So here is what I tried. [code]It navigates to Excel file but does not display text and the image from previous file persists in the web browser control.I even tried to navigate it to "about:blank" but it then does not navigate to Excel file.

Forms :: Access Websites And Manipulate Data From Application

Nov 8, 2009

Basically I want to know how to access a particular website from my application. I have used System.Net Namespace to request HTML from a website, It returns a complete HTML code which is used by Browsers to render the content on the screen but what i want is to interact with the website only without the use of a browser. I currently dont know how to do that.

I have a application which displays a Image when a user enters a keyword, lets say user enters a word "Envelope", the application will go to Google Images and search for this keyword. Now google returns images as results, the application now needs to download the first result ( which is a image) and display it on a form ). Everything here is done without a browser but via my application.

I'd also like each form to access functions from a main form (such as file parsing functions). I have read articles about properties and inheritance but I need some guidance as this topic is pretty confusing.

Filling Text Boxes From A Module?

Jun 12, 2010

I am having a bit of a problem working with textboxes, subroutines, and modules.I have a form (frmMain) with 30+ textboxes. These textboxes collect data input by the user either manually or the user can choose to have the program randomize all the numbers in the textboxes by clicking a button. To randomize these numbers, I have a subroutine in the module called randomizeData(). The problem I am having is that the textboxes on frmMain are never actually updating themselves with the random numbers generated in the module. No errors or anything, but no results either. Here is a simple summary of what I have going on.

Public Class frmMain
Private Sub cbRandom_click()

Navigating - Program Visit A Website And Basicly Filling Out A Text Field?

Apr 29, 2010

Would it be possible to make my program visit a website and basicly filling out a text field and using the submit button in a form?For example; I have a text field named "Field" in my webpage, and I want my Visual Basic 2008 application to visit that page, and automaticly fill out that field named "Field" with a string I gave my application, and next to click on the submit button.The purpose for this is because I want that the users of my application can post feedback on my webpage. I was looking for something like a MySql client but it's best if I would encrypt/hide the protected information such as table names or MySql passwords.And I believe that these users need to have specific MySql drivers installed to use it. So this idea sounds better. So, is there a way to navigate trough a website like this?

Forms :: Accessing MS/Word Document Properties?

Nov 1, 2011

I am trying to access MS/Word document properties without opening the file in Word. Right now I have an app that reads the document properties but it has to open the document in word. This makes it run very slowly and also makes it susceptible to crashing if the document is corrupted. In Windows Explorer, you can right-click on a word document file and select properties. The ensuing dialog box contains, in addition to the usual information, two additional tabs labelled "Summary" and "Custom" that correspond to the same tabs in the dialog box you can open from File/Properties menu in Word. I know windows explorer is not opening the document in word because there is no instance of word.exe in task manager and because it has no difficulty in obtaining this information from the file even when it cannot be opened in Word because the document has become corrupted.If anyone could help me figure out how to read custom and built-in document fields (properties) from the file without opening it in Word,
