I would like to find all the "About" files of all programs stored on my hard drive. If you open a program, click on help and select "About". It provides the name, version and date written etc. I would like to extract and store in DB. The store in DB part, I have no issues.

(Nothing to do with the program, but the drive itself).I want to find a way to prevent these temporary drive reconnects from interrupting my code. I have a program that works I would just like it to be able to find the file with out me specifying the actual path. Because if it is on someone's computer other than mine the path might not be correct and it will not function properly. Here is the code I have done. I keep getting UnauthorizedAccessException error and I'm assuming its because my application is trying to access a file for witch access is being denied. Perhaps I need another hidden listbox that get the full name and then the results listbox retrieves only the last part of the path?

I know this probably doesn't belong here, but on my computer, most of my stuff is on a user that is not my name. I got the computer from my friend named John and the user I have all of my stuff on is john. If I change the username is it possible that things coulds get messed up? Like could it make programs not be able to find certain files?

This function retrieves the temperature for all the hard drives in my system (excluding USB), two internal and one external esata drive. There are two problems, tough: 1. I want to know the drive letter and maybe the drive label that the retrieved temperature corresponds to. I'm assuming that the * in the query, "SELECT * FROM MSStorageDriver_ATAPISmartData", can be changed to specify a particular drive rather than all drives, but I don't know how retrieve a list of all the drives in my system or how to write the query based on those results.
2. If I call the funciton from a some click event like for a label or button, there are no problems and the return value seems valid. But when I call the function from a Timer_Tick event, the mouse cursor is the busy cursor as long as the mouse is within the form, the form doesn't receive any click events, and it cannot be closed.
I know what I'm trying to do can be done because there are a few utilities that provide this information.
