I am trying to get a label to show briefly (3 seconds) when the form loads. The following code gives the 3 seconds, but the label doesn't show. The label is set to visible in the Designer properties.

Adding 'Label1.Visible = True before the sleep function doesn't help.

View 1 RepliesI have created a project that shows a splash screen first and then shows the main form once the main form has been fully loaded. I only want to show my splash screen once the main form has completely loaded in the background. My main form by itself takes like 3 seconds to load, so I would like to display the splash screen for about 3 seconds and then show the main form because the main form will then be fully loaded, but instead it shows the splash screen for 3 seconds and then the main form still has to load anyway.How can I load the main form in the background and then show it when it is fully loaded?
View 8 RepliesI have an app that connects to a remote database.The connection to the database is triggered by the form load event of the main start up form which prompts the user for user name and a password.Here is my problem:Sometimes it takes a number of seconds for the database connection to be established after the user has double clicked the desktop icon. this means that during this period it appears that no action is taking place until the startup form becomes visible.Some impatient users assume that nothing is happening and double click the icon again.What I want to do is to have a graphic image or something pop up on the screen immediately when the program starts that displays something like 'Connecting To Database, please be patient"

View 12 RepliesI am new to VB. I have created some labels/textboxes in my Form1. I use them to do some calculations. Basically, this is my calculation area (in Form1) and then I want some of the results that have been calculated and showed in these texboxes to be shown in labels which are in another form (Form2). So here is what I have done in terms of coding:

Label13.Text = Transactions.ComboBox2.SelectedItem
Label14.Text = Transactions.ComboBox3.SelectedItem

These codes are in Form2 and Labels 12-16 are in my form2 as well. My form1 is called Transactions as you can see. Everything looks OK, when i run no errors, also when do the calculations and I go from form1(Transactions) to form2, labels 12-16 show the results from form1 but the problem when I go back to form1 and change the values and go back to form2, the labels 12-16 are not changed. They simply show the old values regarding of the fact that they have been changed in form1. So how can I make form2 to show them correctly, to refresh the form or what?

I have a form that it do some calculations on datas,I create another form (for example progressform) that has a progressbar and a label with text:"Please Wait. I use progressform.SHOW() in first line of my analysis form load event, but when I run the project the progress form loads incompletely and you can not see the label and progressbar in the form! if I add a messagebox.SHOW("anything") after the line progressform.SHOW() the problem will solve and the label and progressbar apear in the form. it seems that before the progressform loads completely the computer starts the analysis...

Like this the label is visible when the form loads and then disappears, but if I switch the Label2.Visible = True & False the code doesn't work at all. View 3 RepliesWithin the program, there is a button that opens a file inside of a second form ( DocViewFrm ) and it works fine the first time around. Within this new window, there is a button that uses Me.Close() to close the window and return to the main window. Upon the attempt to open this second form a second time, the program crashes on the Me.DocViewFrm.Show() line. The error message reads:
