Sep 24, 2011I have a program with lots of buttons and textfields etc in my main class (I guess), in the default on called Form1.
Aaand, I want to create a class, but can someone tell me how to change the text on labels and buttons from that other class, since the labels and such exsists in the main class?

Jun 22, 2009I need to create a form with radio buttons, text boxes, labels, etc.. This information needs to be pulled from a database. For instance, I have a form that displays information that needs to be inputed to a database, based on what test is being done for a specific product. Each product requires different tests. So each product may or may not have the same information that needs to be inputed..
What I have done is made a database and filled a table with each product and what tests apply. I then call that database after the product has been selected for the tests. It will then fill an array for that products information for what texts boxes and labels need to be shown. I wanna take this further and have it create a form through code and align all the controls to specific spots so that it will look nice. For example I wouldn't wanna create a control and have it be cut out of the form, or have other controls overlapping others.

Instruct VB To Save These Values In The Text Property Of The Labels So That The Next Time The Program Is Loaded The Labels?
Oct 21, 2008I created a program that has serval labels on a form and a listview object. It has a button that when clicked reads a textfile and loads up values in the listview object. I then can click and drag text from the listview box to any label on the form and then the program removes the value from the listview box. Now, my question is how can I instruct VB to save these values in the text property of the labels so that the next time the program is loaded the labels will contain the values loaded during the last run time session?

Jan 27, 2011We're developing a WPF & MVVM application that requires multi-language support. On each control with static text, we're using a converter to do a lookup for the appropriate word for the user's language.
However, this means that each control does not display any text. This causes some irritation for the UI developers at design-time. Is there any way to display design-time text?
For example:

Jul 31, 2011I am writing a program in which I need a particular set of buttons and labels to perform the same function... in a manner such that only the button next in order can be clicked (following which an input box pops up to offer options) I tried to define a new button and a new label object which is assigned the current label/ button.
B = Button1
L = Label1
but it doesn't work. I'm not sure if this assignment is allowing only the reference to be passed as I require (so that Button1 reflects changes when I write code for B, etc.) Also i learned that arrays of objects are no longer supported in Visual Studio 2010. Is there an alternative way to do it?.... If I could define an array of objects or something similar I think I'll be able to manage..

Apr 7, 2011I'm currently working on a program where I'm trying to dynamically create a picture box, a button, and a label for each item in a text file. Any ideas on how to do this? What I have: a plain text file with a list of numbers. Each number corresponds to a location. When that file is read, I want to create a picture box, a button, and a label related to each number. If I want to add something to the screen, all I Have to do is add a number to the file. So, lets say the file has. 1, 2
When the file loads, it will create a unique item on the display for each location. say pic1, button1, and label1 and pic2, button2, and label2. Right now, if I add something to the file, I have to go back into the editor and manually add everything. Which is a pain.

Jan 23, 2010I've been browsing around but the examples I find to do this are either for older VB (which I don't dominate that well and are having some trouble 'fixing') or quite basic and don't allow me to do what I want. Basically, what I want it to get the text on some of the text boxes on a 3rd party application. After some research I concluded these are considered child windows and... Well and from then on I found scattered pieces of information that keep me awake at night So, in order to get the text I want, what should I do?

Dec 14, 2011ok I've read tons and coded tons and I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong.. I have to assume its because there are 900 ways to do sendmessage with the windows API and I'm just not doing the correct one..
I made an an app that runs up and shows me its window handles.. my other app can find the one textbox and return the handle.. now I just have no clue how to send the message correct to make my string pop up. Do I need just the handle ? or do I need to get the handle of the text property using the getdlgitem ??

Read Text From A 3rd Party Application?
Oct 9, 2008I am trying to read text from a 3rd party application. I can create a catalogue of all possible letter variations. I can store every possible character I encounter as a small bmp, or perhaps as an array/matrix of pixel values. For example:

xxxxOOxxxx
xxxxOOxxxx
the letter "I" could be represented in a 10x5 array or matrix as above. Where x represents a wildcard pixel value, but O represents the expected/pre-defined RGB value.
I want to search specific areas of the screen, pixel by pixel where I expect to find the information I'm after. And convert this to usable information. What method gives the best trade-off for simplicity and speed? And how can I implement this method? How do I search for a bmp within a bmp at specific coordinates?

May 27, 2009how to permanently save to text files then re-open all of the information again using SFD and OFD. Now my teacher has come back at me and said that i need to be able to save the information from multiple text boxes and have the text in certain labels to also be saved into the one text file (the labels need to be done because it is a database and these labels are like the fields and the right text box needs to match the right label)

I want these labels to display the text from a third party Software program.
The text is displayed in a child form of the main form the text is in
"window handle is 000E0678"" RichEdit20W"
The text scroll up continuously,
every time - let's say
John (10year) 'is displayed, it takes the 10y and place it
in Label1
Ann (22year 7Street) 'is displayed, it takes the 22y & place it in Label2 7St in Label3
get that text in the labels I only know a little VB. I have used Spy++ to get the window handle
Yes lots for the pro's but we dont understand it, if its just code we dont know where to start or make changes to that code. This is something simple that beginners will understand
VS 2005 Schema .ini DateFormat - Program That Is Desinged To Read A 3rd Party Text File Database
Jan 8, 2011I am having a problem with my program that is desinged to read a 3rd party text file database. I posted previosuly about a problem inserting an item in a new row and the column was expectig a different data type. It appears that sometimes the column is being determined to be of decimal value, I dont understand why. the fields contain information such as
Col1
F123456
CLW-12321 etc....
So my column fills with
123456
12321 the letters just get chopped off
So I added MaxScanRows = 0 to my schema file and that took care of the problem
Except now several of my columns that contain Date Values are coming back
9/24/2010 00:00:00
without the setting MaxScanRows = 0
The date returned 9/24/2010

I am thinking that without the MaxScanRows = 0 setting the datatype for Col1 is being incorrectly determined
I am not sure what is happening with other columns that contain date values. Apparently If i use MaxScan Rows=0 all columns are being pulled over as string value which creates numerous problems. If I dont use maxscanrows then all columns appear to be correct except Col21 MLSNUM which is being pulled in as a decimal. Can I change that in the schema file?

I have following variables also: CurrentPlayer, CurrentFrame, CurrentBallI am hoping to use these variables to specify which label I would like to check the value of (the score achieved, placed in the label).
To test my experiments I have been trying to output the score of the first ball in the current frame in a msgbox, but to no success:

Resolution And Buttons - Tabs, Inside Each Tab There Are Buttons (the User Can Add The Buttons When They Want)
Mar 3, 2012I have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

Mar 22, 2010I have a simple in VB/ASP.NET form containing two text boxes, I am attempting to apply some validation to the first text box using JavaScript. This is the first time I have attempted this and am having some trouble.I have a label beside the text box stating an error, this labels visibility property is set to False. I wish the labels visibility to turn true if the text box is empty when the user loses focus.For this I have used the onBlur option within the tags of the text box. It then calls the JavaScript function and should set the label to Visible but it does not. I have tested to see if it is entering the function by using an alert instead and that works. The problem seems to be trying to alter the visibility property of the label.

so i have this code which is trying to allow the user click the label (of which there are 26) and then decide whether the letter in the label matches the letter that has been generated in the radio button. I KNOW there is a more simplified to do this and much less code to write but i cant work it out. this is an image of what im trying to achieve but instead of buttons change those to radio buttons x 3.

Jun 1, 2012Well im currently developing an application for public use, I have a login screen in which the user enter's their registered credential's and the progressbar loads by increments of 3, now i placed 6 labels ontop of eachother and where the progressbar coding is i put:

If Progressbar.Value >= 20 Then
Label3.Hide()
Label4.show()
And so on up until Label8 Show at 100%,
Now the problem is... As i have placed the labels ontop of eachother i need them hidden until they are called to show, i have tried adding a background worker to do this but have had no luck, all i see is the labels overlapping eachother when i run my application when i want them hidden untill Label3.Show() is called, and then to display them as they are called and hide them when another one is called to show...
