10 Different Random Sentences Generating By Using Arrays?
Jun 29, 2012I have an assignment that requires me to create 5 different arrays: nouns, adjectives, verbs, prepositions, and articles. From those 5 different arrays, it has to display 10 different random sentences in the listbox named lstRandomSentences. The sentences have to be in the following order:
<article> space <adjective> space <noun> space <verb> space <preposition> space <article> space <adjective> space <noun>. Each of those arrays have to be randomly chosen in the list box and that's what I am having trouble outputting randomly.

Aug 26, 2010I need to know how to code a windows application program that will make it possible for customers to place orders online. Customers will have access to menu using a combobox,containing items available. The text file contains all menu items and the price of each item, as well as number of orders for each item. The file is created with a notepad containing 5 menu items.the first line contains the name of the item,second line contains the price and the third contains total number of orders which initially is 0. So far so good i know how to check if the file exists or not,and populating the the combobox, but ther's an instruction where i have ensure that the number of menu items does not exceed 100, and if so,should display an error message.and should validate to ensure that the total number of orders is>0,if not,re display the input box with a suitable message. Then on the save(menustrip),should write the whole textfile from arrays in memory,clear the combobox,display the message. Also has a process payment button where it should read through the arrays with a for next loop,then shouold write function called amount due,which recieves the total orders as a single data type,where the value for amount due is calculated as total orders*price.CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT SINCE IM A BEGINNER IN VB2005.

InputBox Function - Program - Allow User To Input 5 Payrolls For Store 1, Store 2, And Store 3
Mar 22, 2012I am coding a program that will allow the user to input 5 payrolls for Store 1, Store 2, and Store 3. The total of the 5 payrolls are then added together and shown in the respective Store's labels. A total label is also there to add up all the totals into one number. The numbers in the label must be in currency form. My problem is the numbers don't add correctly when I hit calculate. The first two numbers add together, but then after that the number just seems to subtract a random amount.

To be specific, I need to do this in .net. regex can't identify some sentences ending with not so common punctuation, I am fine with it. I don't need 100% accuracy)

Here are the features I want to achieve. It will break out in the interception of sentence in accordance with the procedure. But the second window x (1) I gradually during the scan, I found that x (1) had memorized the sentence re-enter SPLITyahoomessage () in the time x (1) into nothing.

VS 2010 - Isolating And Randomizing Sentences
May 11, 2010Basically I have two textboxes.
Textbox1: "(Hey|Hi|Yo)! My name is (John|Linda|Carl)"
Textbox2: Blank
What I want to do is to press a button and transfer the contents of Textbox1 to Textbox2. However, I want it to randomize the result by randomly selecting between the words in the parentheses. Now of course, the contents of Textbox1 are subject to change at any time, so I can't just add code for "Hey", "Hi" and "Yo". I need some sort of system in place that will generate random results no matter what I put in Textbox1. So I guess I have to search the string for "(", note the location and then search for "|" to isolate the characters in between as one word or phrase. Then search for ")" to determine the end of the randomizing and continuing normally until the next "(".

And when you spellcheck, it checks to see if the word you typed in matches any word in the list of every word (dictionary). And if not, it's misspelled. If so, then it's all coo'.The problem with this, is that I can only spellcheck one word at a time.So, I was thinking of somehow reading a sentence by words. Taking each word in order and putting them into a string. Then checking each word. My software is a learning software. I have a website that is meant to teach you computer programming. But in one row, I have product descriptions so there should be sentences. I set the type of this row is Text in the database. When I use single numbers in the table, there is no problem. But if I write sentences (that is a must because it is product description) or even a single word, I get the below error on adapterCOP.Fill(dtCOP):
"Input string was not in a correct format.Couldn't store <(the written text in description)> in Description Column. Expected type is Decimal."
There is a richtextbox in my form that should show the product description when the product code is selected from a listbox available in my form.
VS 2010 - Series Of Sentences Appear Randomly On Screen One After Other
Dec 8, 2011I need a series of sentences appear on my screen one after the other. I want to have the possibility of:
1) adding new sentences (as many as I want);
2) make them appear randomly;
3) control the time until the next sentence appears (or may be go to the next one by press of a button) (for EACH sentence(for short sentences shorter for long longer));
4) terminate the operation any time.
I imagine it like this: I start the program/application/file -> first sentence appears e.g. "I like ice cream" (randomly out of those that are in the body of the program or in the outside text file) -> it stays on the screen for 2 seconds (controllable) -> next sentence appears e.g. "Lisbon is the capital of Portugal" -> 2 seconds (controllable) -> "Apple is a fruit" and so on in a loop randomly choosing the sentences until I terminate the run of the program.
So my question is: What is the script? And what exactly do I have to do to realize that? My VB level is: installed it yesterday, learnt how to create a button and make "WELCOME TO VISUAL BASIC 2010" message appear on my screen, search all over the internet trying to solve my problem but found only how to generate random numbers.

Create A Program That Produces Random Sentences As Output?
Nov 14, 2010I'm trying to create a program that produces random sentences as output. With five arrays of strings, one each for nouns, adjectives, verbs, prepositions, and articles. Each array should hold several words for that part of speech. It's supposed to generate sentences by randomly choosing eight words (randomly generating eight array indices) from these arrays, always constructing sentences by using the parts of speech in the following order: article, adjective, noun, verb, preposition, article, adjective, noun.Also, theh code should be properly modularized so that the code to generate each part of speech is not repeated.

May 9, 2010In VB6 I load a recordset containg all of the records (6 fields per record)in a table into an XArray and then manipulate the records in the array and then write them back to the original table. The array issorted by the first field (1 to maybe 8000 or more) I need to find records in the array by an ID field and then move them (because of some external criteria that happens many times) from say number 400 to number 375. Then all of the other records between 375 and 399 were renumbered up 1 to fill the gaps left by the move.
The XArray worked well as it could find and also move to a next record easily to facilitate the revisions to each record quickly. Everything is done in VB6 in code and nothing visual needs to be shown to the user until say 2000 of these external changes are complete. What is the best, most efficient way to do this in the .Net framework in VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. tableadapters, arrays. enums ?

Passing Arrays Through Fortran Dll From App Turning To Single Element Arrays?
Feb 2, 2010I have a VB.net console app and I am opening a function in a dll written in fortran. I am passing 3 arrays through the function by reference. When they come back out the otherside they ahve all tunred to arrays of only one element And that element is 0.I read on the internet somewhere that when doing this kind of thing it is a good idea to only pass the first element of the array into the function.I tried changing my function declaration to accepting single elements rather than single dimensional arrays, and now the arrays are the same length before and after the function call, but they don't seem to be changing at all, so i'm not sure that this is working
