i developed a very simple vb.net application and i need a way for every user to verify that they have paid for it. i would like the simplest method possible. it will be an off-line registration. I am actually looking for a way that I can program this easily myself, and am not interested in third part solutions.
I'm looking for the best way to set up application registration.Currently, I'm looking at hardware, generating a registration number from a variant thereof, then manually (through a created key-gen app) generating a serial number that I'm sending the registrant. Then, every time the app is stated, it re-generates the registration number, looks for the serial number, then checks to make sure that they match.until The problem with this is it ties the serial to that machine. I'd like to allow for transferring to another machine. What are some other solutions for application registration that will ward off pirating. i don't want to make it too easy for someone to install a single copy on 5 machines, or worse, share the serial with friends. I'd like to get paid for my work (call me crazy). I know about the 80/20 rule (of 100 registrations, 80 will pay, 20 will pirate) or 70/30 or whatever you hear, and am not opposed to that, but, hey, closer to 96/4 would be nice, right?
what third party software is around that I can use in my VB web application to 'call home' to my website to get a registration key.I saw something that did this a while back but can't remember what it was called.

I was able to create an application in VB.net that talks to a SQL Server CE database. Now i want to deploy this application using the publish feature with clickonce. An issue im having tho is when I install the application on another computer it keeps looking for my sql server on my development pc.
Ive added the .sdf when i package my solution but its still an issue. How do I change my connection string to connect to the .sdf file that I included in the package? this is my current connection string which looks at the sql server: connectionString = " Data Source=CHRIS-PCSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=ce_db;Integrated Security=True"
I would really like to know if there is anyway in which I can package two or more set up files together with my vb.net application; so that after installing the application, it automatically starts installing the other applications from the other set-up files.
In my case I want to include mysql server and client together with the application for a demo cd, that am making for a client.
I have a software package with a bunch of libraries and header files that I am trying to use in a VB.net application. The software help file states the following: The MIL DVD includes MIL libraries that support the Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003/2005/2008 (unmanaged) compiler under Windows Vista/XP. The DVD also includes ActiveMIL ActiveX controls for Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003/2005/2008, Microsoft Visual C# .NET 2003/2005/2008, and Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003/2005/2008 RAD tools.
To compile a MIL application program, you must include the mil.h header file, in addition to the required standard C include files. After you have compiled your application program, you will have to link it with the appropriate libraries or import libraries for your operating system, compiler, and target board.
the problem here happends every time i tried to change a record that's been allready saved.Private Sub PropuestasBindingNavigatorSaveItem_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PropuestasBindingNavigatorSaveItem.Click
I used BackGroundWorker control on a Windows desktop program. It worked great and I would like to use it with other languages. Which languages does it work with -- ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF, Class libraries (dll), console applications, services, WCF? I see that it is in the System.ComponentModel namespace. Is that used by more than Windows desktop programs? If it's not used everywhere, is there an equivalent class on other platforms?
I'm creating window application with VB.NET and flatfiles.the problem is how do i store the connection string in the app.config file that include the application.startup path?
I have an application (app.exe) that has a VB Module in its source code (Module1). The module has a function called Function1. I need to call this function from another application. The module is not marked as public, so adding a reference to app.exe won't work. I'm trying to use reflection (Assembly.LoadFrom()) but unless I'm way off base, the module would have to be a class in order for me to get an instance of it.
Please nobody ask me "what have you tried?" I tried a million different things and let's just say "none of them work." So I'm looking for someone that has specific experience with doing exactly what I'm trying to do. If you don't have that experience, please move on to the next question and ignore mine.
I am working in Visual Studio with a solution containing multiple projects. The solution is based on a co-worker's computer. I am trying to build the project, I get the following error:
Error 17 Unable to open module file 'C:DocumentsVisual Studio 2010Projects ReportCreatorMy ProjectApplication.Designer.vb': The system cannot find the file specified. C:DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsBlahBlahBlahReportCreatorMy ProjectApplication.Designer.vb 1 1 ReportCreator
It is on my co-worker's computer, but I don't see it in source control. He has ReportCreator checked out. How do I create Application.Designer.vb?
[code]I want to write a simple text based rpg game very simple that uses the abstract factory pattern. It will be a choose your own adventure style read and options like 1.run 2.fight 3.bribe your way out of it 4.talk your way out of it, really simple. Would i create a thing pattern, then have factorys like creatures, items etc.
I have found a lot of articles about Reflection and know how to create a class. I'm practicing how to work properly with the reflection to create a module/plugin-based application. So I found a simple example which is working great, but it isn't dynamic enough, 'cause it is hard-coded. I need to read all the .dll's from the application.startuppath & "modules" & *.dll and get there names (without the .dll).Code is was testing for practice returns the form (I know that this is not the correct way to call the dll dynamically):
vb.net Imports System.Reflection Public Class Form1 Private Sub cmdOK_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdOK.Click Dim assemblylink As [Assembly] assemblylink = [Assembly].LoadFrom(Application.StartupPath & "/" & "LoginAssembly.dll") Dim LoginFrm As Form LoginFrm = assemblylink.CreateInstance("LoginAssembly.Login") LoginFrm.Show() End Sub
I'm having problems transferring 2 scripts (they re Modules, if that makes any sense to you) from Microsoft Visual Basic 6.5 (which comes inbuilt into Excel 2007) into Visual Basic 2010 Express which I downloaded earlier today. However, Im a complete novice at Visual Basic; I took the two modules from the Microsoft website and somehow adapted them to successfully complete my goal. So currently I can execute 2 macros in Excel by pressing Ctrl + P and Ctrl + L, which are two separate modules in VB 6.5.
However, I wish to make a separate application in a more advanced VB program (VB 2010 Express) because I now want to be able to activate these modules when Im inside a game or website currently, I must be actively inside the Excel document for my hotkeys to activate the modules.
But its proven quite difficult for me to transfer the two modules over, for I have no idea where modules fit inside the rest of visual basic code. The two modules, when activated, simply move my cursor from its current position to 32 pixels below (first module) and 72 pixels below (second module); Ive attached the first module but the other is the same just that the second to last line is changed from +32 to +72 (bigger distance).
I just got Visual Basics 2008 Express Edition and I am very addicted to it.I am quite a fast learner. I was able to script together many fun applications that I learn from YouTube. I want to make a registration form look-a-like.I setup the design the way I wanted it and now its the coding part I am having trouble with.I have been on Youtube and this site for some tutorials but I still cant find what I am looking for. I have 4 Text boxes, one being Name, second being Last Name, third being E-mail, and fourth being Username.I also have a OK button that I want them to press when they fill in all text fields. The problem I am having is, say they only fill in the Name & E-mail field and leave the Last Name & Username feild blank when they hit OK I want a error to come up and say Please fill in all information. I have tried these codes and none seemed to work:[code]
