I'm trying to find out how i can go to a webpage and input text into a textbox. Like ill have a web browser, 2 buttons and a textbox. When you open the program and type a string into the textbox it loads the website, then when you press the button in types it into the search. When you press the second button it searches.

Is there a better way to make a form with multiple buttons opening different things than having a form that has lots group boxes for each tab. So in the begining each box will be invisible and when you click the button the corresponding group box will become visible. Is there any other way?It will be like a background image and it'll have buttons that will mask it with invisible buttons. when the button is clicked it will open the corresponding group box.

View 3 RepliesI'm currently working on a program that involves a listbox, database and some (rich) Textboxes. Let's assume I'm making a contactlist program.The database connection is established, placed 'ContactName' in listbox.When you click on someone's name in the listbox, I want the program to get the data of that person and show that data in RichTextbox1. I've spend hours thinking how to accomplish that but all I got was headaches.
A second thing I would like to do is to place a textbox on the form and when you type a character it removes all the entries in the listbox except for the ones that matches.So if I'm searching for John Doe and I type "John" in the textbox I would like to see all the John's in my contact list. Or when I search for John and only type "oh" I would like to remove all the items that don't have any "oh" in their names. (Search box)
so i have this data grid, which i wanna search , base on specific criteria from two or more text boxes; eg a user wants to search employees from karachi, so they enter karachi in the first text box. now they want to search employees from karachi whose status is permanent, so they enter permanent in the second text box, and the data grid shows employees from karachi whose status is permanent.

I don't know if you can tell what I am trying to do here, so I will try to explain. I what to create for random numbers and place them into for different text boxes. I also would like to do this with combo boxes and their selected indexes. So if the combo box has 10 items in it; the new selected index would be the random number generated above.
I'm in the middle of creating an application that will be used to input customer information whilst the customer is speaking to someone over the phone. This involves the customer giving the employee information such as name, address, postcode etc and the employee inputting that information into text boxes and combo boxes that are in the application.
What I would like to be able to do is after the customers information is given over the phone, I need to be able to send that information to a database which will probably most likely be done by button click. In this case, I'm using Microsoft Access. I'm also hoping that I can do this within Visual Basic coding.
The database is set out with multiple tables which include a customer table and a ticket table and both have multiple fields such as first name, surname in the customers table. Both of these tables are in use with the information that the customer gives over the phone.
I've already asked on other forums and people are where replying giving me third party programs that I could use to implement this, something I don't really want to do.

Im trying to make a program that allows the user to view additional information via moving the cursor over the label to view (make visble) additional information, in the form of text boxes and/or picture boxes. How will i go about doing this?

The web browser control navigates to a local website and automatically logs in for the end user. This is done by using code which automatically fills in the username and password and then submits the form to logon using something similar to this: WebBrowser1.Document.Forms.Item(, 0).elements("txtUsername").value = "user"
Once logged on - there is a search page which contains a combo box and list box. I am trying to set specific values for the combo box and list boxes.For example - the combo box on the website is titled: cbxDate and contains the following values: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month.
A list box titled: lstArea contains the following values: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, All.I am trying to figure out if there is a way through code to select, in this example, "Yesterday" in the cbxDate and "Zone B" in the lstArea on the webpage.If anyone knows of a solution, please feel free to let me know. View 7 RepliesOK, Well I'm creating a "Card" creating app. The app will let you type in the name you want in the name field and then select a picture. But the problem is, is the saving. I want the card to be transparent like the original. The original is just a blank card. And theres a picturebox on the form that shows the original transparent image, and then a label over the name tag part of the original transparent image, and then another picturebox over the original pictures box for the picture, everything works for designing and it looks great after your done designing the card. But saving will not be transparent and it will not blend with the background.
How do I add onto the image and still keep the transparency of the original and then save it?

I have a rather odd thing happening with an Excel WorkSheet that I am creating through .Net.I load up an existing workbook

When i set a breakpoint on the "Private Sub Gen.." line, and step through the code line by line, it inserts a new column for each variable declared, so in this case it will insert two columns before it even hits the "If MyBooleanValue()..." line (I can watch it actually happen due to the Excel app being visible). However, if i dont set a breakpoint and just let the code run straight through this doesnt happen.There is no multi threading happening or anything else that i suspect would have any impact on the code.
I am wondering if it is possible to drag and drop a control, lets call it a button, and drag it from a FlowLayoutPanel and drop it in a diff FlowLayoutPanel?

I have a class that wraps up a few methods (e.g. OpenPort, SendMessage etc.). Some of the methods accept a number of parameters and return a value (e.g. SendMessage accepts port and a string that is the message to be sent and returns true or false depending on whether the mesage was sent successfully or not). I create an instance of my class when my form loads and I call the various methods throughout the lifetime of the app.In my SendMessage method there is actually a few steps that involves a delay as I send commands to an instrument and wait for a response. I'm using the AutoResetEvent class to synchronize things. Whilst this works ok I've noted that the UI is unresponsive during the wait period.

Hey is there any way you can tell a program to read things as a hex? so instead of reading AA as string read it as its Hex value.
Can you set it up as: Dim Reader As Hexadecimal or would this not work?
at my collage we have to rename all buttons and labels to represent the type of thing the button, label or text box etc do For instance if I had an OK button I would change the Text and (Name) of the button in the Properties section from Button1 to BtnOk, if it is a Label I have to change it to LblOk etc I was wondering if there is a way to change the default (Name) Button1 to (Name) Btn1 and so on so that I only have to click on the 1 and type my description, rather than having to type the abbreviation for the type of object every-time also ?

The MSDN documentation just curtly says 'does various compiler optimizations'. Where can I find the complete quantified view of the different optimizations that actually goes into.Here is the thing I am pursuing this route. One of the code blocks in a module I am leading has a lot of delimited array manipulations. I believe this is going to be a heck costly in terms of string memory handling. I am looking to see if I can retire them by way of simple properties or methods so that the compiler can internally do something like our c++ inline functions making a best win-win offer in terms of both memory and processing time. I admit when the compiler translates them as inline function, the JITed code might be big in size right?
