Oct 20, 2009I have made updates to my programs, including a large update with the fonts on my forms. The only problem is this font is not found on vista or Windows XP and must be downloaded. The program is completely ruined with its looks without it. Is their a way so that both Windows XP and Vista could download these fonts, On startup of the first form, Form Load maybe? Even if the user says that he or she would like to see the program with the fonts? I just don't want to take the many hours i wasted resizing with the new fonts, ect. If it would be easier I could ask the user if they are using Windows XP, Or Vista?

Sep 4, 2010I'm kind of shooting in the dark here - searches don't seem to be productive on this. I want to create a .NET program to monitor the install and uninstall of fonts. If something is installed or uninstalled, I want to run a program to do something.
I thought maybe a Windows Service, but haven't gotten very far with figuring out how to monitor fonts. Is this the right way and if so, what am I overlooking? If not, is there a different way to do this?

3. I have a Button when clicked it should open up my form 2 and preview of the website which I selected in my combobox in form1

Mar 29, 2010my vb experience is fairly limited - I've only used it when supporting legacy applications or for small tasks so apologies if what I'm asking seems simple. I wrote a small vb install script which creates a new folder on a users desktop, copies over relevant files from the install folder to the users new folder and creates a shortcut on the users desktop.
This works great for giving stuff to QA to test. However, there's one dll included in the install folder which is also in the users GAC. The code looks in the GAC first for this dll and only looks in the install folder if none exists in the GAC.
What I want to do is include a line in my install script to copy this dll to the users GAC as well as copying it to the installation folder.Is there anyway to do this in VB? I did find the following on one of the MS sites for installing into the GAC gacutil /i a.dll
Is it possible to run this through VB or is there a cleaner way of doing this?

Feb 27, 2011I was just adding some neat features to my program, and now I realize that they've caused problems with my formatting features. In my program, you can bold, underline, italicize, and strikethrough the text you select. You can also change the color and font of the text. After adding in the ability to change the font of the selected text, I noticed that there was a problem when you tried highlighting the entire word, with some characters in the word having different fonts, and then formatting (bolding, underlining, etc.) the text. The error I get is[code]...
Notice how the "Ma" is in the Comic Sans MS font and that the "th" is in the Arial font. If I were to highlight this word on my program and try bolding it, the error would pop up.
How To Get Kerning Values For Fonts
Sep 9, 2010I am trying to manually adjust character spacing between letters when drawing text with GDI. I am doing this by drawing each letter at a time. The problem is that you lose all the font kerning when you do this. How to get kerning data for fonts? Presumably you would send it the letter pair you want to get the offset for. Then when I draw each letter at a time I can subtract the offset for each letter pair.
