I want to make an numerical integration method with takes in an analytic function and integrate it over a specific interval. For the numerical integration procedure I want to use some procedures in nr.com. The problem is that these are programmed in C++ and they uses functors to pass a function to the integration method. How can I do this in VB 2010?
I want to initialize the function (i.e. set a=1,b=0 for function y(x)=a*x+b) and then pass the function to the integration method. Then when the integration method call the function it only calls the function with one parameter (i.e. x since a,b is already set)
What is the best way to do this in VB2010?I want to make a general integration method where I can pass any single valued function and integration limits.
I have just started using VB, and from what I have found so far it seems like the tools you have is
- to us a delegate for the function
- to use a lambda expression for the function
- send a pointer/adressOf
- to create a function class/structure and submit this to the function
As for now I am most inclined to create a function-class. But I am not really sure how.F.ex. I make different classes for each "uniqe function" I want to integrate, but how can I pass them to the integration function when I need to specify the argument type in the integration-function-call?This seems like a basic problem which applies to many Math operations, so I think it would be very useful to clarify this.
I'm trying to undersatnd the syntax of calling a funciton and it seem confusing when I'm using a web service in ASP.net. Maybe this question should be in an ASP forum, but it is a VB question. This simple web service allows you to type in your name and it response with an alert box with you name.
My question is, How can you call a function with 2 arguments when the function is only defined for one. I understand that the second argument is actually a method that handling the respons, but how can you interchange function arguments for methods and how do you know that there are methods for

I then tried writing these values to the db on the form loading but it doesent work - it just sends back NULLs. I tried the same code in the on load event into a button and it works fine there. What I want to do is to lock the file so that no other process can use the file. If a process wants to use the file, I also want it to wait and try again until file is available.

So if the any other user does any other functionality those locked table are not available until the transaction is completed. I want to know if there is any alternative to transaction which insures data security but the tables are not locked out.

I then have textboxes who shows the sum of the columns etc in the table abd save that value back to the database. but for instance if i put the cursor in row 2 of the datagrid the values in theese textboxes dissapear.What I want to know is if there is apossibility to lock the textbox to ex. table test, clomn x and row 1??

View 11 RepliesI am getting this right after I bind grid. I called the db multiple times (no more than 5.) and I bound those result to a datatable and it then throws this error. I was not getting this error yesterday when i was running this program. And there doesnt seem to be anything I have not done before.

During this whole period i do not want anyone to access (read or change) that invoice number. We can lock the table or row. Does not matter. How can i do it? I am not suppose to use store procedure. Lock table ... does not work. It is not an T-SQL stmet select invoice number with (readlock) ....... only works while this stement is runned. I want to have the table or row locked until i have done 1,2 and 3rd steps. I have seaching for a stamt in sql which will do this for me! But didnt find anything. All results point me to SP which i cannot use.

That one needs locking in order to be thread-safe.But what about DoSomething which doesn't use any static variables outside the method? Does it need locking too?I'd like to clarify that in this particular case I expect DoSomething to always print 0-100 in sequence (i.e. no 0123745...) regardless of number of calling threads.
