The problem has been simplified for the purpose of clarity. I want to make a windows form application that uses an access database. The application will store the list of person's basic details such as name, age and country. The database contains two related tables ie person(id, name, age, country_id) and country(id, country_name) My windows form contains TextBox, DateTimePicker, ComboBox for Name, Age and Country respectively. Now I want to make CRUD operation Programmatically (Not using Visual tools) in the same form with some navigation buttons.

then validate all info entered & show error control message
or use dataset partial class columnchange as cannot restrict user entry here Could an experienced programmer suggest best way i actually prefer restricting keypress then loop through and validate all entrys
but want to be right

i am doing project of Order Accepting system for five star hotels.Scenario is Waiter will accept order using Window Mobile which is Connected to WiFi present in hotel.I want to communicate to database(Sql Server) present on My Machine (Computer present in kitchen) through WiFi and Add order into table present inside database. This should notify my application present on Compter and should print order. After completion of Order Application from kitchen will notify to waiter about completion. My problem is How to Communicate with database present on Remote computer using WiFi from windows Mobile.

i'm trying to make an application using ms access database. This application is for our class, simply to enter students data and institutions details. However, i got stuck with combo; here is my question and the application background?
I have a database named "StudentData" with table "StudentDetails" with "RECNO" which is Auto Numbered (and is Primary key) and a number of different fields which accepts Students Name, class, accedemic year and so on.
What i want to do with the RECNO is, i want to make a combobox which will be filled with the record number of the students, when i click on any number from the dropdown list, i want the other fields like the txtName (for students name), txtClass, txtACYear etc to be field with each RECNO they belonged to.

I am a new user. Never worked with VB before. I wanne make a windows form application. Its a currency converter that can convert EUROS to belgium franks,german marks and the coins off Nederland. it has to be possibel to round the result to zero decimal. I already made the design with the radiobuttons and labels. But I dont know how to make it work. Its also for a assignment.

I only managed make the form always on top. But what I want is when the form is on top, user cannot access the other application in the windows.
For example : Some messagebox won't let users access the other application until the users hit the OK button.

How can i best make a movable widget within a windows form application? I wanted a area inside the form where the widgets can be placed / moved, i was thinking something like Windows desktop gadgets, where you can move them around and add/remove them. i was thinking of using a group box to contain each individual widget (notepad, time, calc ect) and a flow layout panel to contain and move all of the widgets.
Also i was hoping there would be a way to actually have icons to press which place the widgets into the flow layout panel.

I have a solution with several Projects in it. There is a Windows App project (called ImportClient), and a Class Library (Import.Library). The Import.Library has functions to perform data imports (I have other applications in the solution that also need to call it). But the interactive application, I want to be able to pass in some form controls, and have it update the GUI. No problem. But, I also want to execute a DoEvents() so that the loop execution doesn't hang other interaction to the app.
So, ImportClient has a reference to Import.Library. But I can't add a reference to ImportClient to the Import.Library, because the compiler complains about circular reference, etc. I don't know how else to define the My.Application object of ImportClient as a parameter to the data function in ImportLibrary.
(I realize this is a dumb question - problem is, for this project I have a tight timeline, and haven't learned how to do the BackgroundWorker process. If you think I could pick it up quickly, I'm open to some hints about how to update the progress bar on the GUI, and how to pause / cancel the background task.)

I went through the MS Access Application. It contains tables, queries, forms, reports and macros. I could not find the programming (Where is the code written in MS Access?). My boss wants the windows application to be same as the MS Access Application (both in design and logic). I don't how will i develop the windows form. How can I achieve this?

I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?
Here is a example of how I did the connection:

This program is very difficult for me, but I must get threw it or I cannot finish... What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. I'm writing an asp.net page with a simple registration form that connects to my access database and inserts the values in the table. So I have my database, my registration page, everything looks fine in my code, but there's a syntax error I can't seem to figure out. i need to make a database application that can write/retrieve cells/datasets from/to a database i buyed a book in there was an example of how to create a database application while debugging i had the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error and it highlighted this code
