Is there any way to sort an access database into alpahbetical order programically?eg... when a user clicks a button to fill a datagridview, is there a way to either alphabetise the table itself, or sort the results in alphabetical order?

View 1 RepliesI am working on a functionality which requires me to copy the last line of a richtextbox into a textbox, then removing certain characters. The code I am trying is below. I have on a form a richtextbox (txtMain), 2 textboxes (TextBox1, TextBox2), and a button (button1). The first time a ran it, it worked perfectly - it selected the last line, copied, pasted it into TextBox1. Then after that first time it didn't do it. Perhaps there is a simpler way to get this last line consistently into the TextBox1. Here's the code. (See below the code for a copy of the text in"Text.txt" file):

After researching all the possible ways of sending the output of my program to an email address, I have yet to settle on the most user friendly way to go about this.I have created a form for a property management company I work for. I would like to send the output to a designated email address by a click of a button.Now given that the average user that will be using this software may not be necessarily tech savvy, I would like to make it do this as simply as possible and that means not having to know the smtp. Also considering that the user may not be on their terminal when using this software, using outlook to send the output may not be the best way to go about this. I have tried adding a webbrowser control and sending the email via html but I am not sure if that is the most logical way to do this.

I need to Update Access Database Table with Data from a Different Table. Not all the rows of original Table to be Updated will be affected. How do you loop through the 2 Tables to do the required Update.

I'm writing an asp.net page with a simple registration form that connects to my access database and inserts the values in the table. So I have my database, my registration page, everything looks fine in my code, but there's a syntax error I can't seem to figure out. When I go on my webpage and click submit, it says : Syntax error in INSERT INTO instruction.

How to achieve this alphabetical sort? i am using Visual Basic 2010 Express.

I am trying to automate an access table make query through vb.net.It works fine the first time, but the second time it fails because the table already exists.Of course i can delete the table through code by it's name, but i want to let my .net-application find out wich table must be deleted. Or maybe there is a solution that doesn't fail with the error "table exists" without first deleting it.[code]

I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?

View 7 RepliesFor a project, I need to extract all the frames of an AVI video. This I have accomplished by with free program. The problem: it took a 30 second clip and spit back 5400 some frames, and the image only changes every 20 frames or so. I really only need about 270 frames, but I didn't want to go through each one manually. So, I wrote a small program using Visual Studio 2008 and VB to open each image in binary and compare it to the one before that. If there is a discrepancy of more than 55000 (to accommodate slight errors in capturing), it leaves the file be. If not, it deletes it.
After much troubleshooting, I got it all to work. I ran it on the directory containing the images, but when it finished, only the first image remained. I checked into it, and found that the FSO loop I have set up to loop through each file was pulling the files in apparently random order. It will give me the image "bg(01).bmp" and then immediately "bg(1362).bmp" and so on. And the order changes every run.
I tried setting up an array to generate a list of all the files and then sort them, so I could pull off the name of the file, then the next one, ect. but it took over 3 hours to finish processing the array, and then It was using a huge chunk of RAM.Is there some way to "force" vb to pull off files in alphabetical order? here is my, code, it belongs with a form. fPath is a global variable, simply pointing to the source directory.

Problem is the columns being returned using LINQ are in alphabetical order and I want them the way they are ordered in the database instead.
