Just tried out a new Excel component. (Spire.Xls)I make a reference to the DLL and write my code to create an excel workbook. Everything seems fine but when i compile my program i got this warningWarning1The referenced assembly "Spire.XLS" could not be resolved because it has a dependency on "System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, ublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" which is not in the currently targeted framework".NETFramework,Version=v4.0,Profile=Client". View 11 RepliesI'm studying how to use Visual basics 2010, and I have been asked to create a program that transfers a audio file to one machine, then plays that file when it receives it on the other machine. I have made a basic file transfer, but when I install it onto a computer, the server crashes for some reason. But it will work on some computers. Here is my code for the server:
I also have to make the program so that the client can click a button and then it will play a preset audio file. (example: User clicks button to play a fire drill)So to sum it all up, The server app goes onto the computer that will be playing the audio and the client app allows you to send audio files to it and play

View 4 RepliesI am currently learning how to program in VB and am using sample code to make a VB Winsock client and server. I beleive the sample code was from VB 6.0. [code]Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'GetData' accepts this number of arguments.I am getting the exact same error in the exact same place in the server aswell. I have tried removing the vbString, but it comes up with a warning and the program doesn't function like it should. I am programming this in Visual Basic 2010 Express.

I am facing a situation with winsock. My application successfully connects to any computer that is connected on my router but i can't connect to any online computers (using port 7771). It simply doesn't connect without any kind errors. Any ideas? I am using port 7771 as local and remote port.
View 9 RepliesI currently have two programs that need to comunicate one with another. It doesn't have to be something complicated, it's just passing data from one to another, all very simple. I was thinking of using .net remoting, but I've heard there's a new thing WCF. Should I go for the .net remoting or try WCF? Or is there something simpler to use?
edit: Both applications are simple, I don't want to have anything to do with IIS, services and such.
I am working on some custom components that I would like to sell with a form of licensing,
Is there a way to make a component exit a application?
Meaning, if the license key is no good, i want it to pop up a msg box, then throw a quit.
I figure I can always run a 'Throw New Exception("Invalid Key")', but that won't cause the program to stop since it's behind the scenes.
I realize that if i add checks, then i can say 'If CodeIsInvalid then don't process the process'.
I need to build a GridView component which contains a DateTime picker. How can i do this?

View 2 RepliesI will use the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) to transfer files from a client (laptop) to a shared folder on a server within our local network. The problem is a very slow network bandwith, if we transfer a file, the other clients canīt work, all requests to other clients (application) or viewing internet pages needs a long time.My idea is to use BITS in my tool to copy/transfer a file from client to server, also I hope to get more performance for the internet requests.

View 8 RepliesI am converting an old Vb6 solution to .net 2.0 in vs2010. I've been working in C# for about 3 years now and .net for 5. I don't recall having this problem in C#, but if I want initialize a readonly collection of DerivedControlFoo Is there a clean way to do it besides creating a sub to do it all off somewhere else? I'd love to be able to do it at the class level at the declaration for readability and simplicity.

I have created a class and want to distribute it without giving off my code/create it as an application. I am aware that components are nearly no longer used and their disadvantages. I dont need to draw anything on the ui. (I know basically components are used for this aim but I just need to try this :] )
My question is: My class uses a webbrowser because webclient and web request don't work for me. When I start vs 2010 and select new project - Class Library and include the namespace System.Windows.Forms it doesnt find it. So first of all should I select class library to create a component and how could I include the webbrowser object?
