View 1 RepliesHow can I make semi-transparent form, with fully visible buttons on it? I'm trying with opacity, but I can't force it to work only with form.(And I need semi-transparent form, so I can't use TransparencyKey)
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to draw a semi-transparent layer over my entire form when certain events occur, with a prompt in front of this semi-transparent layer (similar to the effect in Windows Vista/7 with UAC enabled)At first I was trying to use a custom semi-transparent panel, but this didn't seem to work at all. As such I'm now trying to use a child form within the form using the opacity property on the form. However, when this semi-transparent form is added to the controls of the main form and displayed, it loses it's transparency.I've got a hacky work around at the moment where the semi-transparent layer isn't actually a component within the main form, and the transparency works then, but obviously this isn't ideal and could potentially cause various issues further down the line.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create two semi transparent panel. When I click on panel 1, the color is semi-transparent red. Panel 2 will become semi-transparent green. When I click on panel 2, the color is semi-transparent red. Panel 1 will become semi-transparent green.
Using class below:
Public Class TransparentPanel
Inherits Panel
Private mIsActive As Boolean = False
Public WriteOnly Property IsActive() As Boolean
[code].....
When I click on panel 1, it is semi-red, when I click on panel 2, panel 1 become semi-green. When I click back on panel 1, it seems to draw the semi-red on top and make it not semi-red but more red. The more click I do, the transparent is gone. Is there a way to drop the graphics and repaint it with semi-red? OR, is there a way to restore the graphics to its original state in semi-red? OR, is there a way to clear the graphics and repaint it with semi-red?
I am working currently on a watermark maker and I would like to know how to make a label see through. For example a form can have opacity out of a houndred, so I'm asking how can I do something simular to this in visual basic.

View 39 RepliesIs there any way to embed a vb.net form to another vb.net form. What I am trying to do is to make Form-A semi-transparent and Form-B as the embedded main form. So that the final application has a semi transparent border around it . Also I don't want to use a MDI form.
Edit: How to make the border of a vb.net form semi-transparent without using MDI form.
I have a 75% transparent form and I would like the controls and elements that I place on it to be 100% opaque. I've searched but didn't turn up any results.
View 4 RepliesI want to draw a text with 32 bit transparency on a graphics object. When I try, I only get black color in the result.
If I try to draw a line with the same semitransparent color, it works perfectly.
I have this code:
lBitmap As New Bitmap(32, 32, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb)
lGraphic As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(lBitmap)
lGraphic.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.HighQuality

I was thinking it may be that SolidBrush does not support transparency, but I found a predefined brush named Transparent (Brushes.Transparent) that was a SolidBrush when I looked at it in debug. I tried to use Brushes.Transparent as the brush when drawing the text, and it was successfully not showing at all. That means I get full transparency to work, but not partial transparency.
I have a semi-transparent custom control in vb2005 - works fine, except I can't get it to update/refresh correctly. If I update the custom parameter _backgroundColor, the control appears to be overpainted - e.g. each attempt to update the colour of the control overpaints the existing colour - until it becomes a solid block of colour. However, forcing a refresh of the form makes the control display the correct colour. Any ideas? I don't want to have to repaint the form just to get this control to render correctly. Code for the custom control is below.

I wish to make a bitmap image (.bmp) transparent using VB.NET code.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to make an image in a picturebox transparent, so that i can see and click the controls behind it in the transparent area. This reason for this is that i'm trying to make a hexagonal grid that needs each cell to work independantly of each other when clicked, and needs to include a changing image. I'm trying to do this with pictureboxes, but even though i've made the GIF images i'm using transparent in photoshop, They aren't displayed as such in design view or at runtime, as the corners stay grey. I'm making a clone of the Quiz-show Blockbusters
View 6 Replieswhat would be the fastest (best) way to make transparent all pixels in one image that are white on other image?
Let's say that have 2 transparent images (.png) and want to delete some portion of the first image. Pixels to be deleted (made transparent) are defined as white on the other image (some kind of deleting mask).
I'm having problems making an image properly "transparent"
Dim x As Integer
Dim y As Integer
Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PictureBox1.Click
[Code] .....
The initial image is Transparent, however, once you create another image very close to it, there is a "box" around it. That "box" is what I am trying to get rid of. I have no clue on how to get rid of it. Yes, I have made the image itself, transparent, as the initial image is transparent. Just any image that makes contact with the other images show the "box".
I have Picture in the same folder that stored my vb project. the folder name is Pics. and on the form I have ImageBox and CommandButton. What i want is when I click the Button I need to get the image inside imagbox.
example: image1 = PicsMyimage.jpb
I have a code that takes the pink out of a image and makes it transperent. So its just the image no color around it. How do i make a shadow for that image like below to make it look like it has its own shadow?
View 9 RepliesAlright, so I'm still working on my slot machine, and I have it all done, for the most part, just got a quick question. I don't know how to set an image in an imagebox. Here is my lame attempt. I've been pulling my hair out and searching google for about an hour now

I'm attempting to write a solution so that my user's can "watermark" their Images with their Company Logo. I've got the actual watermarking part done and working so now I'm creating the "upload logo" feature so that they can provide me with the Logo they wish to appear watermarked onto their Images.I'm using VB.NET and this will probably end up in a Web Service that accepts the Logo JPG file, and returns the "altered" Logo. What I need to happen in this Web Service is:
1) Gray-scale the image. Which I have working as well, thanks to this article.
2) Make the background transparent (so the logo looks clean when watermarked onto an image). This is where I'm stuck.
I think for the most part, any logos that are uploaded will have a generic white background but I can't assume that. Is there a way to somehow detect the background of an image or the background colors, so that I may make those colors transparent? So basically what I need is just a way to determine the background on an Image or even just the background colors so that I may make them transparent.
i am trying to pull a bitmap image stored in a table location with an OLEObject type to my picture box on the form. The code i am using is as following:
img_ProductPicture.Image = DS.Tables("LocationInfo").Rows(0).Item(5)
The error i am receiving is an InvalidCastException:Unable to cast object of type 'System.Byte[]' to type 'System.Drawing.Image'
Am i missing something when pulling the image which will display it?
how can i create a monochrome bitmap from a semi transparent bitmap in vb.net? the bmp is for a transparency mask image for an icon i'm trying to create with the CreateIconIndirect API function.
i'm using vb2008 .Net3.5, but i would prefer an answer that would also work in vb2005
I don't wanna to use webbrowser component because it's not so flexible! How can I optimize my webbrowser by loading special parts of the page? for example in IE you can load all page but images.
View 3 RepliesQuestion:Is it possible to make a userform transparent but have non-transparent controls?I notice changing the opacity of the userform will change the opacity of controls embedded on it.
View 9 RepliesI can't remember exactly if this is possible or not but what I am attempting I would think should theoretically be possible. I know it is possible in WPF but the company I am working for doesn't want to make the transition just yet. Basically what I want is to use a background image on a form for the background and I have a docked control on the right and left. I have set the background on both of these docked controls to transparent however it is showing the back color rather than the background image. I tried, rather than setting the background image property, to override the onpaintbackground and onpaint events and use e.graphics.draw(picture, me.clientrectangle) but it still seems to just pick up the backcolor as the true transparent background so I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to show the background image through the control rather than the backcolor of the form?
