Make Web Access Step Easier To Implement?

I am in the beginning stages of writing a VB.NET application for our customer's pc.This app will monitor machines through a serial port and display the status of those machines on the screen. In the future, we want to be able to run this program both on the pc and from any computer connected to the internet. What steps should I be taking now to make the web access step easier to implement?What is a good resource for learning how to make an application web accessible?

how can i make vb realize that the side that is opposite of the given angle, has to be less than the other sides. Also im not sure what Acamar meant by If txtAngleA.Text <> "" AndAlso txtAngleB.Text <> "" AndAlso txtSideA.Text <> "" Then 'two angles and a side Because im not sure what <> does.

MessageBoxes are often used to display error messages and other information, and I thought that I'd create something to make it easier to see the format of the MessageBox rather than having to test it or temporarily set a condition in order that you ca see how it looks and then modify the code. This is hardly perfect, but I don't think it's a bad start.[code]....

I am running Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional on a Windows 7 system. While working on the visual basic exercise in chapter 4 of the Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Step by Step book on the MyMenu program I added a Toolstrip to my form and then I was trying to perform the add OpenFileDialog and ColorDialog controls to the component tray as described at the bottom of page 111 under Using Dialog Box Controls. I could never get the controls to appear in the component tray as instructed in the book.

I have a program that plays a video and uses the step function to move frame by frame backwards and forwards through the video. The forward frame works just fine:
AxWindowsMediaPlayer1.Ctlcontrols.step(1)
However, the backwards step (below) jumps a full second backwards while the forwards step only steps .033 seconds forward (presumably a single frame).
AxWindowsMediaPlayer1.Ctlcontrols.step(-1)
I can't find any documentation about this problem online and in fact I can't find much mention of this function.the documentation does say the -1 command should step back one frame. IWMPControls2::step method Is this a known bug or is there an updated function I should be using?

I have a wizard where users need to fill out data. You cannot navigate to the second step until first step is completed.
I enforced this behavior by disabling/enabling "Next" button, but I really do not like this solution, since it seems not really elegant or safe here. What is the good approach on building step-by-step processes with enforcing step completion.

I seem to lost the practice files disk for this book, and I am trying to 're-learn' this book. I am unable to do the lessons without the practice files. i would like to ask for little help in here. I developing application for wake on lan and i have group of checkboxes button and i sub with threads. My problem is in button event i would like to run sub only if checkboxes are checked. All works but problem is when i have this rutines in button action then it start threading all the same time. Its very hard to explain. Bassicaly i wanna read this if checkboxes systematicly 1 by 1 from top to down coz right now in my multitexbox(status) they are all mixed and i can't recognize what belong to what.

When I started to work on this new project in vb.net 2010, I put many breakpoints to try to understand the execution order of the project, only to find it in vain. Step into command F11 should work correctly according to Visual Studio 2010: Step Into Property/Function(F11) doesn't work as expected. But I when I pressed F11, I found the code is jumping from one place to another based on breakpoints, not line by line or step by step.To give an example, please see the code below

When I press F11 at line 1, it goes to the property 1. After it returns, when I press F11,it goes to property 3 directly, without accessing the code in line 2 and line 3.I do not understand why the code is NOT executed step by step by using F11. If I put breakpoingts in line 2, then line 2 is executed.So it seems to me that the showed execution order is based on breakpoints! So if I put breakpoints at different places, the showed execution order would be different! Thus, it is impossible for me to really understand the execution order.

I'd like to expose some functionality via a WCF service. I can configure WCF to instantiate a class per-request but am unsure how I can get a reference to a communal singleton if I were to have some functionality to store a list of calls to a method (call it LogMethod) via WCF in memory and return that list when the GetLogs method is called
I'm aware I could use a database/the file system to pass this data back an forth but in many cases, that seems to be overkill. Edit: It seems that nobody has a clear answer - I can't believe this is complex. Am I missing something obvious?

I typically dont create interfaces unless i have to, however in my current application i have to create interfaces in the Data access layer. I've now properly started implementing OO into my system (which I probably should have done from the start) but I just want to clear some best practices.So let's say I have a class called Job which contains information such as Description, Project Manager (Employee class), Value etc. at the moment, if I initialise the Job class it will initialise all the information held within it, even if I only want the job description. Is it best practice to do this or is it better to implement the class and access the database for values as and when they're needed? Or is it just better in those cases to just access the database directly?

I have been requested to implement a login form into a friend's Visual Basic .NET application. He specifically requested that I should do this using LINQ to compare the input to a table in an Access database. I don't really know why he imposed these restrictions, but who am I to judge?
