In Windows Vista/7's windows explorer, the Icon Size selector has got a track bar in the DropDownMenu (see Fig. 1)
Fig. 1: DropDownMenu with TrackBar in Windows Vista
where I can get a similar UserControl or show me how to replicate it in .NET?NOTE: If anyone's wondering where the image came from, I captured it from Windows Vista's Windows Explorer when I clicked on the Views Button.

my application has "picked up" the old style button design. In Vista the buttons have a slight shadow / 3d effect, however, my application appears not be using the default style and instead applying the older XP, Win98 typ appearance. At first it didnt bother me, however, not its annoying and rather than rip all my code out and apply it to a new project, i would prefer to remove the offending code call.
Its a long shot, but i thought i would see if anyone here knew what might be causing it?

I see many programs using a menu strip similar to the folowing: My grey menu style just looks ugly... I guess I should not use the image as background, because XP has other style menustrips, so it must be some sort of menu strip. How can I make a menustrip with that style?

I want to create a software which have a Vista-like border style. I currently created some buttons (1 per side and 1 per corner) which have a background image corresponding to their position on the form. But it requires to much CPU when I resize the window (and need a lot of code lines to works ) So, I want to know if their is a way to create a border style (and maybe to add it in the Form.FormBorderStyle enum) to make it easily tranparent, etc.

I am making a hangman style game in VB 2008 Express. I am a beginner and instead of making any graphic related content (i.e. the hang man), I am using a 3 strike system. So far, I am just about finished. Only problem is whenever I choose a letter that is incorrect, it adds 1 to the strike label. The problem is, the second time I choose an incorrect letter, the "1" does not change to 2! The line is as fallowed:
strikelbl.Text = +1

I've been working over the past year or so to make a very advanced web browser in visual basic, with features like speed dial, password remembering, popup handlers, phishing filters, advert blockers, etc. The final step of the way for me is to add in a toolbar feature. I don't want the source code - that would be asking far to much, but if someone has found any code which might point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. My code is allready around 15000 lines?

I want to use icon files that reside outside of Excel on my Excel toolbars for macro buttons I have created (I don't want to use the customizing function within Excel, but rather, icons that have already been created). In some prior life, I have done this and have some neat-looking icons on the Excel that resides on my desktop. I don't know how I did it, but I know it's doable!
Alternatively, if someone could tell me how to copy over the customized Excel setup, that would work too. I tried copying over my "Book 1" file, but got a message about macro security and digital certificates.

I am using the "Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Browser Control Type Library 1.0" control to view PDF's in my vb.net application. I want it to show just the PDF with no menus and toolbars.
I have used the following code:
AxAcroPDF1.LoadFile("C:ShippingForm.pdf")
AxAcroPDF1.src = "C:ShippingForm.pdf"
AxAcroPDF1.setShowToolbar(False)
AxAcroPDF1.setView("fitH")
AxAcroPDF1.setLayoutMode("SinglePage")
AxAcroPDF1.setShowScrollbars(False)
AxAcroPDF1.Show()
I am still getting the Navigation Panel on the left side of the panel. Does anybody have information on which method would disable this or maybe a list of all the methods?

Hi. I have 2 toolbars and want to show only one at a time.
But when I swap them using .visible, it updates the form each time I switch one on/off, so it's all flickery and slow, and other controls resize to suit the indermediate state.
How can I do it cleanly?

what I want to achive is to have a centralized control of my data-forms from my toolbars (toolstrip), like navigating (PREV-NEXT), SAVE, DELETE, CANCLE and so on instead of having it in every form. it worked beautifully in my VB6 projects. below are the codes i did in .NET and it don't seem to work and I guessed it about my use of late binding in .NET.
This is what I have done that don't seem to work. In my project module, frm is declared Public as form object Public frm as system.windows.form().form
Im my childforms i want as soon as the forms are load, activated or have focus, should instantiate or create the form object in my frm. [Code] while in my menu or main form (parent form) with toolstrip buttons, this actually where all individual forms are called. [Code]
and it's flagging an error there:
frm.CloseForm is not a member of System.Windows.Forms().Form
and I must say here that I declared all the subs im calling in the childforms PUBLIC, and of-course frm being a late binding type may not have all the Public Method on it.

I'm using VB.net 2005. I want to open a Word doc from either the VB app. It can either shown on the form or in Word itself. Either way is fine. I tried using the WebBrowser control method, but it had the annoying "Open or Save" dialog that pops up and I don't want the users to get that. So now I am trying by opening up Word uses the sample code I found below. The problem is I want the users to ONLY be able to READ the doc. No Editing, Printing, or Saving. How Do I remove the Menubars, tool bars, and anything else that would allow them to print or save. Even if they tried to edit it would then do them no good without print or save.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
' Opens up doc in Word
Dim file_name As String

I'm showing an excel file in a WebBrowser control on my form, but it doesn't show any toolbars. The customers wants the ability to make changes in the control and save them, hence the need to show the standard toolbars.
I've tried many different things including:
For Each cb As CommandBar In xlApp.CommandBars
cb.Visible = True
Next
'and

how I can get toolbars to show in the WebBrowser control?

I am been working on an a small app that has a Forms.Webbrowser control that navigates to a Adobe Flash program. I have developed the app on Vista 32bit platform and have had no problems. I have sent the app to a couple of people to test out and one is using Vista 64bit and is running into a problem. I know the webbrowser control just uses the underlying base framework of IE. The problem on the 64 bit machine is when the site is navigated to it says that it needs to have Flash installed. When the user goes to Adobe's site it says they need to use a 32bit browser.
As stated on Adobe site here:[URL] the Flash player need to be in a 32 bit browser. What options do I have to be able fix this problem? Is there another control that I can use that would be the same in a 32bit platform and 64bit platform? Besides navigating to the Flash program, the browser also goes to standard web pages.

I am trying to make a style that only gets applied if the parent element of the element that the style refers to, has another specific style. Kind of like in CSS where you can do ".class1 .class2" to specify that the "class2" theme only applies if it is within an element with the class "class1". I do not wish to use any form of external DLLs or libraries for this task. I want to know if it's possible to implement on my own.
I've tried using MultiTriggers with no luck. I have a style that applies to all TextBlocks. I want the textblock to do the following: If the font-size of the textblock is 11 and the parent element's style is "PinnedSuggestion", set the foreground color to "#FF505050". If the font-size of the textblock is 11 and the parent element's style is "Suggestion", set the foreground color to "#FFCCCCCC". The conditions that I have tried to write to make this work, are as follows (the font-size condition is true, but the other one is not). The conditions are inside a style that applies to all textblocks in general.

I am creating an application and am very new to VB. I have 4 buttons on my form which is like my applications main menu. I would like that each of the buttons behaves in the following way when there is a mouse rollover: The Button back color is changed from the default to Red The Button text is changed to Blue, Bold, and increases in font size I would also like all the buttons to go back to their initial state when the mouse leaves.
Another thing, instead of me writing code for each of the buttons event handlers (Mouse Hovers, and Mouse Leaves) is there a way I can write this code once, maybe as a function and then always call it for any button that I create from here on so that any new buttons take on this behaviour.
