I'm currently trying to create a program that will, simultaneously press the letter G and left clicks, multiple times when I press F11. Also, when I press F10 it should stop doing this. But I'm having a hard time trying to make the "hot keys" as I call them be global. I want the program to be activated regardless if the program is focused or not. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 as well as Windows 7 x64.

I am developing a vb.net media application using Windows Media Player which is working fairly well. However, I am having problems where the Function key handler will stop working after doing anything on the media control panel, i.e. mute, move the slider etc. So long as I don't touch the panel everything continues to work. I'm using the function keys to pull up menus for selecting other media and if I do anything with the control panel I can no longer display the menus.

View 6 RepliesAlright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

So I found this little morpg. The game is fun but really repetitive. I would like to simplify some of the tasks in the game. I do not know how to start this project. How can I recored arrow keys and then tell the computer to enter the arrow keys? One of the objectives in the game is to run around a farm 2x and scare away any wolfs. So the commands would be "arrow key up" for 30sec and then "arrow key right" for 4 sec and repeat. I have worked with robots in real life for some time. We would fill arrays with such instructions. One of the most fun things to program! But I have no idea how to do this in VB.
View 12 RepliesI'm a huge music person (got my own lil record thing going) but I'm wanting to design a program that would make music in my way. I have a decent amount of background knowlege of Visual Basic and Java I'm just wondering how could I execute this whole project. The Project is making a MPC Sampler. MPC is a drum machine; a machine with buttons that once you press it that it will play a sound from a drum (ex: snare, kick, tom, ect.) . So I would want to make some pads on my program that each have their own sound. Total of 16 pads. Which the design wouldn't be hard to make nor would the functionality of it having the play back sound (in my opinoin it wouldn't be hard atleast). But the thing is I wanna map out these pads to number keys on the number pad or keyboard. I'm not so sure how to do that. But that's all the easy stuff...
Also finding information is making a sound directory. What I mean by this is that I want to make a User Interface that will open up a file directory of sounds and the user can select what "kick" or "snare" sound he may want for the kick or snare pad. I don't know how to do that or even know what to search; neverless I don't know if this whole project idea is a good idea for Visual Basic or another programing language.
Also LATER ON I am wanting to add a record and export function that alows users to..well...record and export their beat or instrumental ha. That doesn't seem too too complex (mainly due to the fact that all it needs to do is record the users key strokes and then show them and play the sounds, but obviously it would get more complex than that.)

I need to capture the left and right arrow keys in Form1.KeyDown event so I can use them as hot keys. Instead they seem to be assigned to tab order (move focus to previous/next control) and the KeyDown event never gets called. How can I remove the arrow keys from tab order and use them for my hot keys instead?
View 2 RepliesI have a START and STOP button and when the user clicks "start" the program does a whole bunch of calculations and all. However, I noticed that when I was testing the program I clicked STOP the program continues to execute stuff.
My START code is basically a while loop that iteratively does some calculations.
So I just put a boolean variable as the while condition and when user clicks stop its set to false and when user clicks start its set to true. However, when I click stop, the condition is set to false yes but it still executes all the code until the condition is re-evaluated right...so my question is how can I get out of the while loop when user instantly clicks "stop"?

[code] The problem with this is that when I press enter, there is this annoying "beep". I don't know where this comes from. View 6 RepliesI'm now working on a domainchecking application for about 2 weeks and it is in the final developement phase.There is a my.settings that is, by default 1 to indicate that it is the first time starting the application. If it is the first time, the settingsform will show up to activate the application with a serialcode. This works fine. If I start up the app again, it doesn't show the settingsform again because my.settings.firsttime was set to 0.
After 1 cycle of the timer, which checks all the domains,the line: application.restart is being executed. Then **** happens...It shows up the welcome-message again and asks for activation.By check,I put a button on the settingsform which shows you the value of my.settings. firsttime. and ***... It is 1, like magic, it changed itself from 0 to 1. The same problem is with the indicator of the activation.Is the problem caused by application.restart? Is there alternative code for restarting an application?

had a quick question that I dont think is too difficult, the solution just isn't too apparent to me.I put an option in my program that will allow a user to redownload a setup file and repair a program installation and I wanted the program to automatically launch the msi file and pass a command line arguent to use the repair function in the installer.This code works perfectly to launch the installer, but the user has to manually click repair.

i have used the alt & key combination for my buttons but the prob. is unless and untill the user presses the alt key the key combination is not highlighted. i have seen progs. where the key that is used for e.g. i have given &Add then the 'A' key is highlighted always with the underline. but when i am doing it by giving the name as &Add unless and untill the user presses alt the underline under A doesnt appear. do i have do more than just giving "&Add".
I have a need to activate remote desktop on machines out in the field and have created a VB button that takes a workstation name from a textbox and activates via a WMI call. problem is that it pops back with an "invalid parameter" error.
