Parse An Integer To A "library" Of Co-ordinates?
Jun 18, 2012
What i need to do is parse an integer to a "library" of co-ordinates. This integer allows for a random co-ordinate to be chosen. The "Library" i mentioned is shown below
Public Function Hit(ByVal rnd As Integer)
Select Case rnd
case 0
return "(0,0)"
[code]....
How can this be done?I am either looking to convert the string "(0,0)" to grid(0,0) or can use another method to lookup the co-ordinates.

Apparently I don't understand what PointToScreen() is actually returning. I'm thinking it should be absolute screen co-ordinates. In a form, I have some labels in a panel, which itself is in a panel and am trying to derive the screen co-ordinates for the labels in one statement without adding the X and Y co-ordinates of the panels. Why does PointToScreen(Label.Location) return the same value as PointToClient(Label.Location) and the same as Label.Location? Shouldn't PointToScreen() return absolute SCREEN co-odinates?

I am writing some code which needs me to parse the integer from a string. For example:
Dim str as String = "300ML"
I need to store the 300 to an Integer and discard the "ML" from the end. I can't seem to find a sensible way of doing this other than using RegEx. However, for the life of me I can not get my head around RegEx.

I am trying to parse several strings to integers where I both tried cINT(string) and Integer.Parse(string) but it seemed to fail at the string 'h1', I think I need to use substring for this, but as the input can be different decided by the user, it is kinda impossbile to use substring, as I do not know how to locate the integer in the string..

I want to convert British OSGB 36 co-ordinates to WGS 84 (i.e. "standard" latitude and longitude), in order to plot them into a KML file for Google Earth.I should probably add that my question is not "How do I write a KML file?". My question is "How do I convert between these 2 co-ordinate systems?"!!I was hoping there would be a library that I could use, rather than rolling my own function - it seems like the sort of thing some-one else would have implemented.

Am new to this area, it would great if any one help me on my request. I would like to retrieve each words co-ordiantes (x,y axis) from a jpg file, which is scanned hard copy. I know this can be done with the help of OCR sdk's. But i dont know how to integrate those sdk's with my .net application and retrieve the value. It would be great if some one suggest me the best way or sample codes to do that.

If I use the following code to draw a rectange, do the values inserted into 'fromleft' & 'fromtop' set a co-ordinate from the top/left corner of the paper or from the top/left corner of the margins.
Dim R As Rectangle
Dim across As Integer = 5
Dim down As Integer = 13
[Code]....
The reason I am asking this question is because I am trying to print labels so the position of the labels on the sheet are fixed. When the printer is set to papersize = letter the first label is in the correct position but when I change it to A4 the first label has moved 4mm to the right. With the margins set to 0 I still cant get it justified correctly. The printer is obviosly capable of printing 4mm from the left because it does so when set to 'letter'. Can't use letter because I need the extra length of A4 for the bottom row of labels.

I just want to parse simple expressions like IIF(FVAL(PFC) = TRUE, (IIF((ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") + ORGVAL(DA)) < 6500, (FVAL(BAS) + FVAL(DA)) * 12%, 780)), 0)`After parsing this I should be able to know what functions contains what parameters.
[Code]...
I'm stuck with .Net Framework 2.0, so no Linq or lambda expression goodies for me. Also I want to include the code in my custom library and not just reference it. Can anyone point me to some good library or code.
I just need to parse and not evaluate the expression and find what tokens are in use. After finding the tokens I need to change the expression string before parsing, like if the function ORGVAL is used then the parameter passed has has to be prefixed by an underscore. Like ORGVAL(BAS) will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS). Some functions can have tow parameters like ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") and this will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS, "2012/12/31")
NOTE: IF THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DOING IT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WOULD LOVE TO AVOID A PARSER AND LEXER.

str(1) is an array and integer(or double, tried both)
a(1) is an array and integer (or double, tried both)
a(1) = a(1) + 1
Label1.Text = str(1) + a
the big part is where i get: operator '+' is not defined for types 'integer' and '1-dimensional array of integer'.why do i get that message and what does it mean? how do i make the code do what i want?

I faced an error when upgrading VB6 code to VB.NET. The error occurs at AddressOf WindowProc
AddressOf expression cannot be converted to 'Integer' because 'Integer' is not a delegate type
My declaration for SetWindowLong is:
Declare Function SetWindowLong Lib "user32" Alias "SetWindowLongA"(
ByVal hWnd As Integer,
ByVal nIndex As Integer,[code]....
What is the reason for the error I get?

I'm trying to create a linked list of an array of integers. Why is the following implicit conversion required?
When I run the code that contains that conversion, I get the following error.
As a real-time data acquisition user control data (a packet of an array of bytes) arrives every second, is converted into an integer array and inserted into a linked list.
The most recently arrived data is painted as coordinates on a grid at the right of a PictureBox using Graphics.DrawLine (pen,X1,Y1,X2,Y2).
The oldest data (arriving 120 seconds ago) will be drawn at the leftmost portion of the Picturebox.
Why a linked list rather than a list? To display 120 views of time sequence data, the draw routine the most recently inserted node to a node that points to Nothing. How do I limit the length of the linked list to 120 nodes and always ensure that the last node points to Nothing?
Do While Not item Is Nothing
item = item.NextItem
Loop

I'm trying to convert a VB6 project to .NET, but I get problems with some callback functions, and the following message comes up: "AddressOf' expression cannot be converted to 'integer' because integer is not a delegate type" I've seen several solutions to similar problems like this, but I am not able to understand this issue with delegates.
After the conversion, the code look like this:
Declare Function vsmsgwSetDataPackageCB Lib "vsmsgwW.dll" (ByVal PACKAGE As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer
Dim arginitP As Integer
[Code]...
Which gives the error: Method 'Public Function PackageCB(HisNodeID As Integer, ByRef data() As Byte, ByVal length As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer' does not have the same signature as delegate 'Delegate Function DelegatePackageCallback(hwnd As Integer, lparam As Integer) As Integer

I have a LINQ2Entity problem, I want to get the value, string, from a database, so I select FProducts.Serial_number, and to end the query, I do .ToDictionary. The problem is, it tells me that it doesn't have sufficient parameters, to convert ToDictionary. So I need something like select FProducts.Serial_number, Nothing). ToDictionary. Also FProducts.Serial_number, 0).ToDictionary doesn't work.
Sub GetStatistics(ByVal ProductNumbers As List(Of String), ByRef Passed As Integer, ByRef FailedProducts As List(Of String))
Passed = 0
FailedProducts = Nothing

I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists
Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID)
Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists
Where g.EventID = _id
Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?

This is giving me a headache. I have this link query here that grabs an ID
Dim mclassID = From x In db.SchoolClasses Where x.VisitDateID = _visitdateID Select x.ClassID And then later on I have this linq query
ViewData("Staff") = From t In db.Staffs Where t.ClassID = mclassID Select t
I've tried quite a few things but to no avail. I've attempted casting, converting, Is operand, etc.

I'm just writing a bit of code to compare an id of integer with an id of integer? for example:
Dim id As Integer = 1
Dim nullId As Integer? = Nothing
Dim areEqual As Boolean
areEqual = nullId = id
When I try to compile the code I get a compiler error: Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'Boolean?' to 'Boolean'. Whilst it's very simple for me to work around this, I was hoping that someone might be able to explain what's going in the compiler to give this warning.

vb.net

what i'm trying to do is to create an Integer array with LBound greater than 0. any way would be accepted, or can i say this: my function that takes i As Integer() as its argument does not have to check the LBound of i because there is no way LBound of i will ever be greater than 0

I have an app that the user selects information and it writes to an XML file. The user can increase and decrease the information in the XML file so it is dynamic. The other app reads the xml file and uses it to complete tasks. Since the XML is dynamic my code needs to account for that. Right now I have only allowed the XML to have up to four values in a certain node, I would like to allow more but I will need to increase the Select Case function.[code]
