Reading And Writing A Text File That Is Saved As A Resource?
Jun 17, 2010I would like to know how to write to a text file that is added to resources and then have it show the contents in a text box.But I would like to have it on a timer so every second it will refresh as I am trying to make an instant chat program.Also I would like to note that I want it to delete everything after all the users have closed the program. Is there any way to make it so the text file is empty when there is no body using the program any more?

But what im trying to do is make a function where I can play the audio file in the programs resources with a string variable being passed to it representing the resource objects filename.
this is so users can type in a audio files name and pull it from the program's resources dynamically VS a big case i would keep having to expand ...

Feb 27, 2006I added 7 bmp files in the Resources tab of the Project Properties I have 7 PictureBox controls, for each control I set the Image property to a certain bmp saved in the Resource section.Everything was fine, however all of a sudden I got this warning message for each PictureBox
"The type 'My.Resources.Resources' has no property named 'lla_nodev'."lla_nodev represents the "lla_nodev.bmp" file I added in the Resource The worst thing is that the Form is unabel to load in the designer view, so cannot I modify it. The application is able to run though,with apparantely no problems in run time.

It wont play the file but if i do it like this: Dim video1 = """F:\Movies\DvD\Angels and Deamons\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB"""
It plays fine? the file paths are the same including the extra "" but it just refuses to play. I need the top one because i have many movies in a treeview.

Resource File / - Separate Resource DLL ?
Feb 5, 2010I have a resource file that I include in my shared code library that has all of my re-usable classes in it (all the resources go into their own namespace). Now, what is the best practice regarding resources... should I include them in the same DLL, or should I have a seperate resource DLL and/or are there any benefits from seperating them out into their own file.

After loading the data from the text file; then throughout the lifetime of the program the data can change. The data can then be saved back to a different binary file. May 10, 2012I have my datagridview being loaded from a Text File and then being saved to a text file as a comma separated file - the commas obviously separate the columns. However in some of the cells prior to saving, I have data that i have inputted over two lines by pressing shift + return.
E.g.

This saves fine, but obviously shows up in the text file as a line break, which then causes some issues when I choose to re open the info back into DGV. How I can code so that it saves as a line break within a cell, rather than a completely new line.

this will work fine the first time this scheduled task runs and there are no existing files but at the end of 1 week when I will be overwriting the existing files, how do I tell the application to overwrite the existing files without waiting on a yes prompt from me which it does in debug mode?
