View 2 RepliesI have a project in vb 2010 that im working on. I want to know if I publish this and make it downloadable when it is done will my background music be heard by others? I am pretty sure it's only playing on mine because the song is on my computer right? Is there a code to make it so it stays even if i make this program downloadable?

View 1 RepliesI've created a new form in my program and dragged the windows media player into the form. I have an mp3 in a resources folder within the project. I've set the URL to the name of the mp3. I've looked at tutorials but they make the windows player accessible to the users. I just want the user to be able to hear the music and not be able to change anything regarding the background music.
I want the music to start playing at runtime and continue to loop for now. I will eventually want to switch up the background music depending on which form the user is on. But for now I would be happy just getting a single mp3 to play continuously.
I have a Command1 and when I click it, I want a sound to be played.

View 1 RepliesI have been tasked with a project that requires me to scan documents into our application. I was hoping a few of you had experience with coding them for your project and could point me in the right direction.
Here are my questions:
1. Do I have to choose a specific scanner such as Visioneer to code for or can I do I code for twain and assume all scanners that are twain drivers can run my software?
2. Should I write the code in VS2008 to obtain the scan or should I be using the software it comes with? I've found a few bits of code that seem to work but I'm not if I'll just be rewritting something I don't need to.I'm not looking for my work to be done for me, just a push in the right direction.
I'm developing application that is plugable. The plugins are loaded via Assembly.LoadFrom(). In my solution I have 4 projects. A WPF, 2 DLL and another DLL that is a plugin for the app. The plugin project references one of the other DLLs. When I build the Solution and run I was getting an error trying to use the plugin dll because it was expecting an older version of the referenced project. I had to clean and rebuild the plugin project to get it to run correctly.

I have Visual Studio 2010 and a VB Project that had a reference to Microsoft.Interop.Excel 12.0. Well recently I changed the reference version to 14.0. That was actually a mistake and now I need to bump it back down to version 12.0. However I get this error in my project now...
Project 'MyProject' requires a reference to version '14.0.0.0' of assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel', but references version '12.0.0.0'
of assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.
I tried removing references and adding the com object to, but no avail.
I'm using the windows media player (wmp.dll) in vb.net 2008 and would like to know if it's possible to play a specific portion of the video. For example, I would like to start to play the video X minutes from the start and for Y amount of time.
View 1 RepliesI've inherited a program from another developer. The software was originally written in VS 2008 and I have VS 2010. Everything appears to work okay, but when I have it open in VS 2010 on my machine, it won't always open the app when I hit the "Play" button. If I hit the green play button I get a status in the bottom left-hand corner that says "Build started...." and then "Build Succeeded", but the program never opens - it just sits there. This behaviour seems to occur on and off. Today it might be like that, and tomorrow and may run fine.

1-Know how to send a key to a specific background app(don't loosing the focus of the actual window). Is there a function or API to do that?
2-Warcraft III have a protection tool and its almost impossible to use any function or API to interact with it.

View 8 RepliesI'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?
Here is a example of how I did the connection:
Public AccessOLEDBConnString= "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & myfullpath & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password"
Function getConnection() As OleDb.OleDbConnection

dim sql as string
dim ds as Dataset

Is there a way I can publish *.ascx files without adding them to my project?I am trying to make my user controls in Visual Studio 2010 reusable. I have a project containing my user controls called ControlsLibrary solution directory. I copy the ascx files to the web directory upon building the project with build events.I use the command copy "$(SolutionDir)ControlLibrary*.ascx" "$(ProjectDir)controls"
This copies the *.ascx files from G:/SolutionDirectory/ControlsLibrary to C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/WebProject/controlsNow when I publish WebProject, the publish does not copy the *.ascx files from C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/WebProject/controls to my website. This is because they are not added to my project.
Is there a way I can publish *.ascx files without adding them to my project?I know there is a way to publish all files by selecting the option "All files in this project." That includes more files than I want.

View 1 RepliesFirst of all, I wasn't sure whether this was VB.NET or General Developer content... It's not technically about VB.NET code, but it's not very general either since it is specifically about Visual Studio. Feel free to move it if required.A while back I realized that all of my database connection code was getting very biolerplate. had 'developed' my own method of connecting to an Access database and storing the results. Basically, for each table I create one 'Manager' class and one 'Entity' class. The Entity class represents a single record in the database and has properties for each field.
View 9 RepliesHow can you make a play button play/stop toggle? Currently my button plays a file in WMP but when I click it again, it just restarts the file. I would like it to toggle on and off, play and stop, not play and pause.
