My boss has given me an asp.net web application that was done by his former employee. Now my boss has no contact with that employee. He wants me to make some changes in that web application. I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. It has many asp pages, aspx pages, jsp pages, xml pages, css pages, etc... How to understand other person or team's website or web application that was written in asp or asp.net and vb or vb.net?
I was trying to edit a excel document and save under different name and my coding for this is as follows.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'Open Dim MyExcel As New Excel.Application MyExcel.Workbooks.Open("C:\Test\WalkAir.xlsx") 'Extract MyExcel.Sheets("sheet1").Activate() [Code] .....
While debugging the code it resulting with me an error message as Public member 'SaveAs' on type 'ApplicationClass' not found.
I am using Stanav's PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages) for iTextSharp library (v5.1.3) and was not able to add the image to specific pages: e.g. to add to only page 1 and 3 of a five pages PDF
Dim Pages() As Integer Pages = New Integer() {1, 3} PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages)
Calling AddImageToPage() with the the optional Pages parameter will add the image to all pages though.
I have a form on a .NET webserver using aspx pages with the vb code-behind pages. The form collects the entered data and then emails it, that part works fine.Right after it gets emailed, this code checks to see if the email was sent or not and then updates the landing page accordingly. I used to use just an IF THEN statement, but now that doesn't work in these new .NET pages. Here's the end of the code that I am having difficulties with:
I have heard of setting server specs to have HTML pages parsed as PHP pages by changing the .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Is there a similar solution to have HTML pages parsed as ASPX pages?
A website I am working on does not want their PageRank to lower since their HTML pages are already indexed and used on other websites but wants to use some dynamic features of aspx pages (like include the navigation file so that changes to the nav will only have to be done in that one file).
I really like the coding speed that vb.net provides, but I don't like the possibility to forget to declare variable types, return types of functions, etc. and that is why in each class I use[code]..
Is there a way to define those two options on the project/solution level?
the combo box style 1 has both the drop down option but also a manual entry option. I need to know how to code it so that when you manually enter data, it takes that data and places it in a text message "The shipping charges for "data" is $15" displaying in a text box. Shouldn't be hard but have developed a mind block.
what does these two code means in vb.net: Option Explicit on Option strict on i think option explicit means the compiler is not going to do any kind of conversion and i need to do all of them by the code;also it becomes case sensitive i.e;
i have this program which records the every printing made on a local computer.I am to record the number of pages of the document to be printed and the number of printed pages. i have this code but i don't know the number of pages and number printed pages always return 0 [Code].
I want my console application to be able to do one function I have when you click one option on the windows context menu, and another function when you click another option.
1. I have read that keeping Option strict on and Option infer off is good practice and will insure your code is tight and properly written. I would like input regarding this, pro's and con's from those who are in the know.
2. Having said that, I have set Option strict on and Option infer off in an existing program I wrote (that was working perfectly mind you) with them off and on respectively. I went through and cleaned up all the errors on the 'need AS' and casting of variables, but one is leaving me a bit put out.[code]
I have also read where using My.Computer.System.Directory.GetFiles() instead of System.IO.Directory.GetFiles() is probably not a good thing, but when I change to this I get no error, but also no dataI am thinking I should stay with the strict on and infer off but am really slogging through getting this code correct.Running Win7 on Dual Quad Core XEON Intel Extreme with 8Gb RAM.
I am writing a text editor program and I have written the new, open, save as, exit menu items but I am struggling with writing the save option. Now I have created the menu itself (well vb did, I just used insert standard items) but how do I code up the save menu option so that it updates the current document or if the documnt has not yet been saved bring up the save file dialog. Here is the code I have so far
Public Class Main Private Sub NewToolStripButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles NewToolStripButton.Click, NewToolStripMenuItem.Click[code]....
I know I have some finishing touches such as messages and error handling and stuff but at the moment I want to get all the basics working,I think the save menu option is all I am struggling with at the moment.
I have a form that adds new contacts. New contacts are added by pressing an appropriate button and they appear as an entry in the list on the form. I try now to add an edit button that will edit existing entries.User will select a given entry on the list and press edit button and will be presented with an appropriate form (AddContFrm).Right now it simply adds another entry with the same title. Logic is handled in a class called Contact.vb Here is my code.
Public Class Contact Public Contact As String Public Title As String[code]....
Using VS2008, targetting framework 3.5, trying to update some VB4 code. Yes, VB4.I have a bunch of legacy code I'm trying to update, and I had the idea of trying to work through it by executing the old code, working out what was causing each error as I came to it, solving the problem, and then moving on.In order to do this, I have sinned and set Option Strict Off, Option Explicit Off and Option Infer On.Yes, I'm going to hell for this.Problem is, I'm still getthing errors that various things haven't been declared. All of these the items showing errors are in the form: itemName(obj)Is my problem that the compiler thinks that these are method calls for methods which haven't been declared?PS: For anyone wanting to tell me not to use these settings, I already know
I have to take over a project written in vb.net, which contains more than 400k lines of code written in option strict off mode. I want to build it under option strict on first before I do anything else -- which maybe converting it into C#. I found there's thousands of lines of code raises compilation error, mostly are about implicit type casts. Is there any tool would help to make it compile under option strict on mode if I don't want to correct every single line manually? Because it's really painful to add CStr/CInt invocation into every line of Code myself.
I have created an exe file. i am now worried whether my exe file will be decompiled using some vb.net decompilers.(sample coding) for some exe file named "hello.exe" to prevent the hackers from decompiling it. how to restrict the use of decompiler.i now want to make my code, invisible (or) not traceable (or) not understandable. even if it is decompiled. Also i came to know that , it is also possible to remove the obfuscation from the exe file.. so that the actual goal to trace the code is possible...
Alright, simple as can be. I am stuck back doing my project again this year in college since i failed. So my question is if anyone can help me with the coding as to how i can restrict a member from the database, Also i wanna know if i am doing it right in terms of code for Amend.Try to explain it nice and simple.Sorry but unfortunately my college has blocked every single image host so i can't show ya all a screenshot but i can show ya the coding i have.
so far i have it laid out so user can input details of a member.I have 4 buttons on the form, one is Add, Amend, Delete and Cancel.I have the coding right for Add, Delete and Cancel. So i have a checkbox where if a member is restricted the change is placed on checkbox.
I need to create a helpsystem for my work. There's two user types ... common users and admin users. The common user needs to se all stuff except admin stuff - admin must see it all.
I use Camtasia to make screencasts - AVI files, which I need to put in my helpsystem. Seams like I can't stream the AVI from embedded resources, so I guess I need to save the AVI files to the users harddrive.
I need to copy all stuff to the client PC in case of network problems.
how to I prevent common users going to their harddrives and watch admin AVI files?
I am trying to add Images from websites and I am facing poblem with an issue which is that when I am trying to go to google images and trying to add some Images and when I right click for some images I find "Copy Image URL" and for some I don't find it and I find "Copy link address".Now I want my users to restrict from adding the Images which contain "Copy Image URL"And I am attaching Images so that you'll understand me in a better way.
I have some textboxes that I only want numbers in and only want a range of numbers to be valid. Also I do not want to use NUDs. I already have the textboxes connected to functons and subs so I do not really want to change them. How would I do this?
I have a picturebox (X=1200,Y=800) and there is an area in the picturebox starting at (X=32,Y=32 and is 256x256 in size). I want to keep the mouse pointer in that area for awhile.
Is there a command in vb that lets you do this? If not, can you restrict the mouse to one control?
