Stored Procedure Group Invoice Records And Update Accordingly

Jun 12, 2011

I am a Newbie using SQL server and in VS2010. I am re-writing an existing application which is written in an old programming language. I have a table with invoice records waiting to be assigned an invoice number and invoice date. I have two ways of updating these records , the first way is the user manually selects which records/rows to be updated for a specific customer account number. This all works fine.

I am trying to write a stored proc which goes through all un-invoiced records (i.e., invoice number = blank) , it is to group records/rows by account number and assign next invoice number (which I already have astroed proc to fetch) and then when the account number changes to move onto the next batch of records for the next account.

.Net CommandBuilder Will Update, Insert, But Not Delete Records In SQL DB?

Feb 15, 2012

I have a datatable populated from an SQL Server 2008 database table. I created a DataAdapter with a commandbuilder to manage the updating, inserting, and deleting of records. The Updating and Inserting work as expected. However, Delete does not. The code runs through just fine without any errors. The number of records in the datatable after the row is deleted even reflects the deletion. The DataAdapter.Update works fine without any exceptions. But when checking the actual table in the SQL DB the deleted record is still there. Here are the parts of my code that deal with this table.

DataTableAdapter.Update Doesn't Insert New Records In The Linked Access Database

May 20, 2010

I am writing an application that does a number of different things with data downloaded from hardware which is monitoring the power used in my home and produced by my PV Solar array. I have run into a roadblock early on, because I cannot seem to get new data into an Access database that I have linked to my application by means of a DataSet. I have checked the DataAdapter's InsertCommand, DeleteCommand, and UpdateCommand definitions (created by the DataSet Wizard), and they seem to make sense, and nothing is throwing exceptions or otherwise making VB complain, but new rows added to the dataset are not being added to the database.

.net - Write A Linq To Sql Query To Find Records Where Field Name Can Match One Of Dynamic Number Of Strings?

So basically, I need to write a linq query where the "strings" to match are determined at runtime. Is there any way to do this easily? I know that there is a library out there called dynamic LINQ, but (1) it's in C# and I'm writing in VB (2) I'm really just looking for a single, simple solution for this single case.

Forms :: User To Be Able To Select Any Number Of Those Checkboxes/rows And Then Return A Value To The Table "stamping" That Users ID?

Jan 8, 2010

I'm working on a project and my boss insists I use a DataGrid for this. The grid holds information for work orders, one of the cols has a check box in it. I need the user to be able to select any number of those checkboxes/rows and then return a value to the table "stamping" that users ID. This is what I have so far to get the grids populated... I'm using 2005 with a 2000 Access Database if that helps. Though this will be changed to SQL Server once we get it working (yay more work)...

I removed the code from the second grid to make it easier to read, obviously once I can get one to work the second shouldn't be as much trouble.
This is the check box: dgvNewBiz.Columns(1).HeaderText = "Select"At this point if someone knows how to get it to recognize the click event of the check box and pass that row info to a variable that would be super as I'm sure I could probably figure it out from there.

Return Value From Stored Procedure?

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim strServerName As String
Dim intServerID As Integer[code]....

From what I have read this should work. I think I have declared the parameters correctly. When I run the stored procedure from SQL it returns the correct value so I know the problem is in VB.It is a simple stored procedure, however, I am trying to remain consistent and use stored procedures as much as possible.
