Mar 2, 2010How can I search for files and list them in a listbox? And how can I search for only ex. jpg or png's?
I've tried many things in the past, but with no succses.

Mar 30, 2011I am trying to make a program where I browse for a folder and that Browse dialog displays user selection into a Text Box that part I have completed, when that user selects the folder it will recursively search all folders and subfolders in the directory the user has chosen and display that list in a ListBox here is the code I have so far. Also to note I have found a function for recursively search a folder but I have no idea how to implement it to display in the ListBox from the User selected directory.
This code is the code that lets the user select the folder and display it in the textbox

I eventually want the script to also copy the file to the location of the build but I can't seem to get the first part working at all. Mar 15, 2010I have a folder with a whole lot of music in it (*.mp3 files.). Now on my form I can play these songs in playlists, and other extra's. But now what I want to finish it, is to create a search function. Here is a picture of my Form. And what I want to add is a Listbox, TextBox and a button.
When I type: "Eye of the Tiger" in the Textbox and click the Button, All *.mp3 files in my folder, and the subfolders, with "Eye of the Tiger" in it, are added to the Listbox (The full name, like: "Survivor - Eye of the Tiger") will show at the Listbox. I want the user to select a PDF file with a click and be able to preview the document and when the user needs a larger view of a PDF file the user simply double click on the list box. When clicking on any of the ListBox items the selected PDF file is displayed in the "preview" pane. When selecting the mnuDocumentsView option from the context menu strip the new, larger, form reflecting the selected PDF file is displayed perfectly. But, when double clicking on an item in the ListBox the Click event is executed instead of the DoubleClick event. For some or another reason I cannot use both the Click and DoubleClick events on a ListBox. I've tried seperating the DoubleClick event from the mnuDocumentsView click event, MouseClick, MouseDoubleClick, but no luck.

I have tried putting my GetFilesRecursive function into a separate background worker to run first so I can update the GUI however I am struggling on how to return the List of found files back to my application (I get cross-threading exception) and how to update the progress bar to show the progress of the GetFileRecursive function so the user knows it is processing the list of files and has not crashed/frozen.

I also want to set it so the list is always visible so you when you reach the bottom of the list you can scroll down to the bottom but if you scroll back up once it reaches that middle point it will start to scroll up again.

Jan 26, 2009I am having problems with copying from one listbox to another and keeping the paths of the files in the listbox's. At the moment i have two listbox's, listbox1 shows the list of files without the directory paths showing. Listbox2 is used to add items from listbox1 which work ok but what i need is to be able to preserve the directory paths to each file. how to do this and have searched high and low for a solution without any luck.
I have worked out one way of doing it but i think there is a better way of doing it as the reverse does not seem to work. So basicly i want listbox1 to list the files without the paths and pass it on to listbox2 so that the files can be copied to temp directory as they are being add to listbox2.

Jun 3, 2010I have a SQL Server table with a list of files (path + filename), and a folder with multiple layers and files in each layer. I'm looking for a way to reconcile the two without having to process the list twice. Currently, I'm doing this:

Is there a better way to do this? I'd like to avoid converting all the matching files (of which most will be) to FileInfo objects twice. Since I'm a T-SQL developer first, I'm picturing something like an OUTER JOIN of the two lists where they don't match. Something LINQ-ish?

and that displays only the file name, like text.txt but i want it to display C:/Text.txt and all the files in the subfolders too, like C:/Program Files/Test2.txt but i just get test.txt from only the c:/ .
