I am connecting to a data stream that pushes data continuously and when I tried to set up a network stream I just could not connect and kept getting the 'not found' error. I used the httpwebrequest with webrequest.keepalive = true and started to consume the data by reading into a buffer and then appending to a stringbuilder. Once the stringbuilder reaches max size I flush it to a text file. The problem is that I get disconnected from the data stream because I am not reading the data fast enough. I need to keep the connection open and read the data while ensuring data gets stored in text files. If I use method "CONNECT" it does not connect to the stream.
While (True)
webrequest = DirectCast(Net.WebRequest.Create(url), HttpWebRequest)
webrequest.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential(username, password)
webrequest.Method = "GET"
[code]....
should I increase the buffer size and if so what is the max? that would mean I can read more data at a time and keep up with incoming push. Disparate here.
ACtually also I noticed that it gets stuck on this line
numbytesread = responseStream.Read(bufferread, 0, BUFFER_SIZE)
and then eventually I get disconnected.

Below error is thrown in a already opened program which connects to different database
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server.
(provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)
Program details: code done using vb.net with MSSQL 2008 as back-end
Two instance of same exe where running simultaneously in same PC but error was thrown only by one instance Program uses both sqlconnection(ADO.NET) and ADODB connection(upgraded from VB6) and the error is thrown by both types of connection. If the error is due to network problem with the server then why few programs work fine? I am not able to trace the reason for this behavior of the program. Can I know why this error occurs and why only in few programs of same instance.

I have developed a 32-bit VB.NET application that runs fine on 32-bit systems. Some of the folks in engineering, however, are using 64-bit machines, so we have created 32-bit virtual PCs and installed the application on the Virtual PC. When we try to run it, however, the application fails to establish a connection to the SQL server (remote, SQL 2000) for login validation.

The user account will not have all rights an the data isn't very important if it got lost.The user account and connection details are hard coded.

I had a problem getting a VB.NET web service client to receive the response object from a Java web service.In the process of posting this question someone from another department volunteered some code written for a similar situation.I couldn't find this anywhere on the net so I'm completing my question to help others out.[code]The web service is Apache CXF with some Spring elements mixed in.

This will happen at random, and I can always just catch the error and re-establish connection to the server, but I am confused as to why. When doing lots of inserting into the sql server, I only establish one connection that is public, instead of many little connections. I had my doubts on a public sql connection, but it's been running great, and I've seen no problems until this morning. Again, this random moment I hit an error that stated, sql connection state is broken. Is it bad practice to just accept this error, and when it happens, re-establish the connection?

I have a fat VB.NET Winform client that is using the an old asmx style web service. Very often, when I perform query that takes a while or pass a large amt of data to a web service in a dataset, I get the subject error.The error seems to occur in < 1 min, which is far less than the web service timeout value that I have set or the timeout value on the ADO Command object that is performing the query within the web server.It seems to occur whenever I am performing a large query that expects to return a lot of rows or when I am sending up a large amount of data to the web service. For example, it just occurred when I was passing a large dataset to the web server:System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the rem

I have an application that copies a file from a network/internet location. I am trying to catch the exception for when the network connection becomes unavailable (or internet goes down). Currently i catch the exception "Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host." which occurs on the bold, underline line below.The issue i have is i try and attempt the operation to continue doing what it was doing by resetting variables and then reassigning them to continue reading the stream but cant get past this error. The only way to go past it is to stop and start the application which is not what im after. [code]

I'm having an issue here with making a WMI connection to a remote machine using specified administrator credentials.I have the WMI code inside a function, I pass it the computer's name and it returns the WMI information that I am requesting as a string (or in this particular case, an integer) from the remote machine. I'm positive it works, and returns the information I need using specified admin username/password. NOW, the issue I am having is related to (it seems) calling this function from a backgroundworker. [code] "Value does not fall within the expected range." I literally have no clue why this would throw that exception, yet when I call this function from lets say just a random button on my form, it works beautifully. The key here is that I need my WMI requests/processing to run in the background.

I'm in the process of upgrading my web pages from asp classic to asp.net.My previous code used CDO to send emails.[code]This code works fine but I'd like to send emails from my asp.net pages. When I send from the .net pages, I get the error message: "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it xx.xx.xxx.xxx:2 " [code]I'm rather new to .Net but I've searched for hours and can not come up with a reason why the old code works but the new doesn't.

I made 2 simple VB .Net applications.One is listening on a port and echoing received message to sender (server side), and the other sends messages to it (client side).When I run them both on my machine, everything goes fine.
The problem arised when I tried running each of them on different machines. The client throws an error : "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

How to make a chat program. Well I just copied code in and the program worked. I can send a message to the server and it sends it back just fine. But I can only send a message once. If I try to send another message I get an error and it says this "A first chance exception of type 'System.Net.Sockets.SocketException' occurred in System.dll" then it "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:500".

I've created a small DLL, an addin for Autodesk Inventor, this addin saves some information provided by the user and the program to an access(mdb)database.The whole idea behind this is that it allows users to quickly find drawings, assemblies and so on.The DLL works great on x86 systems however it has issues on x64 because I used ado.net.In a attempt to solve it I forced .net to compile it with the target x86 CPU settings.
However using this I'm unable register the dll (C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727RegAsm.exe /codebase SavetoDatabase.dll )It says its not a proper .net dll file and therefore cannot be registered.
is there any other access-database connection provider (like dao or ado.net) that works on a 64 bit machine? Or do I need to change from mdb databases to another type (like mysql)? because sooner or later all machines its running on will be converted to x64.Or do I need to register the dll in another way?I've also tried to replace the conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 with ACE, with no luck however

I want to refactor my existing application to work with as a client/server app, and was looking at introductions to Remoting.I got a simple system up and running 2 days ago, and haven't touched it since until just now, but now I'm getting an error message when trying to instantiate a class from the remoted DLL : "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".The server and client are both actually running on the same machine for simplicity at the moment. I have three "applications" involved - a class library containing the server functionality, a listener application sitting with the server, and then a client applicaition.Most of the articles I can find online referring to this error seem to apply primarily to asp.net but I'm just using traditional vb.net (2008)I initially suspected the cause may be firewall related (as when I first got it running I was prompted to allow access) but I've turned off my McAfee firewall and also my Windows firewall with no joy, and besides - the error message seems to imply that communication with the server has been established but that it doesn't want to play ball.

I am trying to make a client server form application using VB2005. I am using VS2005 Professional for development.
The problem is as follows:
When more than one client tries to connect to the server. The connection is refused and the Client gets an exception in Connect() method - Target machine actively refused the connection.
This problem occurs only when 2 or more clients try to simultaneously connect to the server. For a single client accessing at a time the problem does not occur. The code segment is as given below:
-----------1 Module
Imports System.Net.Sockets
Imports System.Net
Public Class FrmMdiParent
Dim WithEvents wsServer As New Winsock2005DLL.Winsock
Private Sub FrmMdiParent_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing
[Code] .....
The above exception is thrown when more than 1 clients try to access the server simultaneously.

I have a tcp server that uses TCPListener and the async method BeginAcceptTCPClient:
Imports System.Net.Sockets
Imports System.Threading
Imports System.Net
Public Class TCPServer
[Code]...
My problem is that infrequently, I get an exception in the HandleAsyncConnection method:"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" right at the EndAcceptTCPClient method. At this point, the TCPListener seems to stop listening. The problem is that I can't test this easily, as it only happens on a remote test VM and only once every 24 hours or so. If I knew how to recreate the error with a test client, I would be able to figure this out. Wireshark shows a reset [RST] packet being sent at around the time of the exception. So I either need to know how to handle the exception, or how to recreate the problem with a test client.
