I have a icon in the tray in the bottom right next to the clock. I would like it to NOT be hidden (where you have to click the arrow). I do NOT want to turn on all of the hidden icons, just mine. Let me know what you recommend
View 9 RepliesI added the NotifyIcon1 to my form but that is as far as i know what to do, i did google what to do and found some stuff but not what i wanted, i want it to minimize to the taskbar (like where Yahoo! and MSN icons go to when the x button is clicked on the interface) the stuff i found made it minimize to the bottom left of the screen but not into the taskbar.

This is how it should look when it's done: [URL] (this little autohotkey script is broken in win 7). Is this is feasable in vb? If yes, how do I communicate with the win os? Maybe get a list of active windows and redraw them and the taskbar after replacing their icon by a blank one in memory?
View 6 RepliesI want to know how to start a forum hidden. I know I can just add Me.Hide() to the Window_Loaded event, But it's ugly. The user sees the form for a split second then it dissapears. I want to form to start up hidden. Little background on my program, it is a small taskbar application, Has a small notify icon. When the app is loaded. I only want the notify icon to be visible. I have done this by creating my own Main subroutine in a Module that I created. and I am laucnhing the application like so

The main function of the application is to get data from an external database and send it to excel so it does not need to open a window just to run in the background and also appear in the task bar with options for connecting or disconnecting from the database.

I'm trying to create a program that will look at a website and check it for updates, similar to an RSS feed. It then will show a dialog (Form2) that will inform the user that there is an update.Form1 is used as the configuration form and is able to be shown via a notify icon in the system tray, which is on Form1.Originally I would have Form1 hidden via Me.Hide() and then run a timer which would check for the updates and call Form2.ShowDialog() when there's an update, I found out however, that if Form1 is hidden, the dialog will not show.
Next I tried not Hiding the form, but instead setting its ShowinTaskbar property to False. At this point the program functions correctly, however when I minimize Form1 it sits in a shrunken window near the task bar... Is there any way to completely hide Form1 (when minimized), and allow Form2 to be shown as a dialog?
Is there a way to Show/Hide the desktop icons in .NET?I tried manually editing the HideIcons subkey in the registry through code, but it didn't take for some reason.I also tried calls to Win API methods FindWindowA but i'm not the best at handling unmanaged code.

It has one Menustrip control docking on top of the form and StatusStrip docking on bottom of the scrren. When User click on any menu item it opens new form or if already opened, show it. My application allow to open multiple child forms opened at same time and all forms StartPosition is set to CenterScreen. My problem is becuase all forms are in cetenr it ovelaps each other and user wouldn't know which form(menu option) is opend. I would like to see all opened forms in different tabs (like in windows taskbar) in bottom of MDI parent form.

I have a form in an application I'm working on that normally displays full screen without a taskbar but provide the option to switch to a minimizable window with a taskbar. When I switch from full screen without taskbar to minimizable window with taskbar everything is ok. When I try to switch back to full screen the border disappears but the taskbar is still there and the form is not aligned properly.The text at the top is cut off somewhat and there's a small margin at the right edge that shouldn't be there.I put this code in a keydown event for the form.

View 1 RepliesI have a vb.net 2008 application which has its corresponding icon.
The icon shows correctly except in the taskbar when the "small icon" setting is on.
My vb.net project includes a .ico file which when I see in the IDE includes 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64 and 256x256 bitmaps, in 4, 24 and 32 bits, also 3 .png images in 256x256 32 bits each.
I made the icon myself simply using a 64x64 bitmap and then converting it to .ico, and assigning it to the application in the project properties. I thought windows would use and escalate the corresponding image, it shows even in the file explorer properly in the small icon form, but not in the taskbar.
I would like to make a image in the form representing the icon and a label below it to represent name but is there a easy way to do this.

The remarked area works fine when I'm accessing a specific table. I've successfully inserted the products_model field into the combobox too. The datagridview does show the table names in the db using the SHOW TABLES sql statment, but I'm not understanding how to get this info into the combobox instead.
