View 4 RepliesI was asked to create a slide show in Visual Basic 2010 that had to meet certain requirements but I've run into a few difficulties. I have a slide show that works but it doesn't meet my friends standard and I'm not sure how to go about this process. He asked me to meet these requirements: The Slide Show Project requirements of your project are:
1. The use of if statements.
2. The use of arrays.
3. The use of loops.
4. The use of graphics.
5. The use of key/mouse controls.
6. The use of images.
7. Allow user to set delay time for each photo.
8. Transition effects 1: Fade in, fade out
9. Transition effects 2: Fly in, Fly out
10. The use of timers.
11. Borderless, always centered.
12. Introduction Screen, Credit Screen.
13. innovations, special feature.
The code that I had previously came up with was as follows:
Public Class Form1
Private ImageFileNames As New List(Of String)
Private CurrentImage As Integer = -1[code].....
I pre-loaded my own photos into the slide show but I just want to know how to right this code in order to satisfy my friend.
Windows Application

I am executing the sql query to fetch values and showing it in my datagrid..and when i do that it works perfectly fine...and problem is that it takes 10 min for my datagrid to fill...so in between i want to show the execution time to the user in another form till my query processing completes..
My

View 3 RepliesI'm working on a design project where I have to use a Graphical User Interface that contains a drag and drop form. It consists of having a window dropped on a wall. Both of them are images to scale. I would like to know what kind of code I would have to use to show the x and y coordinates of one of the points of my window when dragged so when I drop it, I'm dropping in it on the desired coordinate of the wall.
View 2 RepliesI have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.

I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
The idea with this form is to add the futures which is calculated when the button is pushed but I need the list to update every time and show the values each time to which the previous value is added to the new calculation, e.g. of what it should look like in listbox:
Year 1: $1,290.93
Year 2: $2,724.32
Year 3: $4,350.76
etc....
I have been working on this a while and I am at a standstill, I was given a function to clear the form everytime it calculates but I don't know how to implement it, I am new to VB. Here is what I have so far:
Public Class frmFutureValue
Private Sub btnCalculate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCalculate.Click

Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I want it so that when the date and the time is = to the date and time set for the reminder the action will follow. Here is my code so far:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Dim notext As String = ""
If TextBox1.Text = notext Then[code]....

I've got an interface inheritance issue that has been vexing me for some time. It doesn't seem to make any sense, and I can only conclude that I'm missing something fundamental.
Overview The code below is from part of a fluent interface for our ORM tool. It provides a SQL-like syntax for pulling data from the database. You don't have to completely grok all the interrelations to understand the problem -- the real issue is the EndClause method.
The EndClause Issue There's a method called EndClause that doesn't show up in one expected spot -- IOrderQueryRoot. As far as I know, it should show up because it inherits from two different interfaces that both have a method called EndClause, but when I consume an object that implements IOrderQueryRoot, EndClause does not pop up in intellisense.
There are some more implementation details below.First though, if you look at IOrderQueryRoot (which contains EndClause), you can see that it inherits IHasOrderLogicalOperators, and also IHasOrderFields (which also contains EndClause).
Public Interface IHasOrderLogicalOperators
Function [And]() As IHasOrderFields
Function [AndNot]() As IHasOrderFields
[code]....
At this point, the interface is working fine -- if I were to remove this method, VS would scream that I have to implement both EndClause methods. The problem is one level down, when the "end developer" is trying to actually write code against the interface.

I'm using Visual Basic 2008I've been trying to create a auto typer where I can put a whole page of words into a rich text box and the auto typer then pumps the words out one at a time. The code that I use is:
Timer1.Interval = TextBox1.Text
SendKeys.Send(RichTextBox1.Text)
SendKeys.Send("{Enter}")
That code would just type all of the words at once. Also, I'm putting the words in a rich text box. How could I save the rich text box so that each time I load up the application it still has all of the words in it?

Now my question: Can Person A read the entry "test1" while Person B is updating/deleting the entry at the exact same time? What happens in the worst case? An old match/empty match or can it cause any kind of exception/error(e.g. "TableLocked-Exception")?
writing user info such as user, computer name, date, and time to an acces database using a button click event. Then use a query to check if the user has accepted the aggreement. If the user has accepted the aggreement then call a vb.exe that display the aggrement. I have a login script that runs the vb.exe and uses a button click that records the user info to a csv file, but if the user has already agreed to the policies I do not want it run again.
