Show The User The Current System Time And Date Using Progress Bars In VB 08 Express?
Jan 7, 2011
I am trying to write a program that shows the user the current system time and date using progress bars in VB 08 Express but don't know how to start it, I am having trouble with getting the program to refresh the minutes and seconds progress bars
I came across a problem in my program it takes too long to calculate the values needed (about 10 sec) .But thats not the problem you don't know when the program is working or not, as it just locks up until its finshed and I view that as a problem.
I need to be able to show the progress of this .I looked at using background Workers but I get exception "Object reference not set to an instance" I believe this is because the background worker cannot write values or something ,As it works will a normal handler.
to trace the days of a program installed in user's computer. However, the user can changes the system time of his computer to a advancing date. How can I get a SNTP time from internet to solve this problem?
I have two forms, when the user selects a button, the second form opens and an external executable begins an automated process. The point of the second form, is to only show the current progress of the automated tasks and closes when those tasks are completed. How would I use a progress bar to show the current progress of an action on a different form without knowing how long it will take?
In the app I'm currently making, I have two progress bars. One for current task being committed and the other is for overall progress.During runtime, I calculate how many tasks are being run and set that as the maximum. As each task completes, the progress bar is incremented by one.
I want the current task progress bar to show the progress of the current task. Some tasks can take a few minutes to complete so that progress bar works great. But, if the task is super quick, like editing registry keys, I see no progress at all. When I edit the registry, it basically goes like this:
It completes so quickly that I never see the bar even move.I also have each task report its name into a label and it skips ahead so quickly that I only see the first task name and the last.Is there any way to make this do a better job at reporting the progress?
I am not sure how to accomplish this, but I am trying to take dates from two fields and using the current date show the progress percentage in a different field.
So, if past date is Jan 1st, the current date is "x", the future date is Jan 11th. How do I get a percentage of completion between Jan 1st and Jan 11th based on today's date Jan 5th?
BDate | EDate | % to completion Jan 1st | Jan 11th | %
I'm trying to compare the modify date of a file vs the current system date. I've found an MSDN article describing how to get the modify time of a file:
Dim infoReader As System.IO.FileInfo infoReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo("C: estfile.txt") MsgBox("File was last modified on " & infoReader.LastWriteTime)
This gest the Date and Time, but I want just the Date not the time.
I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
How can I have a Folder created with the Current Date and Time as iets Name and at the same time Save a Picture into that newly created Folder. Here is the code I am trying to get to work.
PictureBox1.Image = myCam.copyFrame _ (Me.PreViewPictureBox, New RectangleF(0, 0, Me.PreViewPictureBox.Width, Me.PreViewPictureBox.Height)) '<<< Creating New Folder and Saving Image to that Folder.>>> If (PictureBox1.Image IsNot Nothing) Then Dim NewFolder As DateTime = Now [Code] .....
In OrderDate text box, default date is today (e.g. 05/19/2010). Once user change it, how to code to save to SQL server as DateTime format? For example, user may change OrderDate as "05/12/2010" but will save it as "05/12/2010 09:17 AM" (time is current time)
i have created a WebService. and my webserver is in Canada. and i am accessing this service from India. Now problem is that i m not able to get the current time of that system in india.wht i hv written in Webservice is Now.Date.and it is not returning the currnet date of system where my webservice is configured. Please tell me how can i get the current date and time of that system.
I have a form that I will be using to copy directories of photos from memory cards to locations on a computer. I would like to add a progress bar to the application to show the progress of the copying in real time. This is the code that I use to copy the directory in the first place Dim SourceDir As String = SourceTextBox.Text Dim DestinationDir As String = DestinationTextbox.Text If System.IO.Directory.Exists(DestinationDir) Then My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyDirectory(SourceDir, DestinationDir,) Else My.Computer.FileSystem.CreateDirectory(Destination Dir) My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyDirectory(SourceDir, DestinationDir)
Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I want it so that when the date and the time is = to the date and time set for the reminder the action will follow. Here is my code so far:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Dim notext As String = "" If TextBox1.Text = notext Then[code]....
I have a 500K+ lines vb.net app, written by 10+ different devs over the past 5 years. Many times it gets the system time and/or date and relies on it.Now I have to re-run real cases thru the program for regression testing purposes, and it screws up cases where the date/time matter. My fix is easy, just replace all the areas in the program that get current date/time with a sub that gets the current date/time, UNLESS I'm testing, in which case it will return the date/time of the original run. I have tried searching the sourcecode for the obvious 'current date/time' functions:
Now DateAndTime.TimeOfDay Date.ToDay
However, if I miss one, I LOSE.list more ways to get the current time, that might be hidden in the source code, that I can search for? Note: It's pretty clear none of the 3rd party libs in this system are returning date, well, one is, but I've caught it.
I have written some code that generates an output file from an external executable. I would like to insert the current date and time into the resulting filename. In the pi.Arguments line (shown below) the /l= creates the output file. I would like the name of the file to be Trustee_Restore_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.TXT.
Private Sub Button5_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button5.Click Dim p As New Process Dim pi As New ProcessStartInfo
[code]....
Everything works, except I would like to insert the date into the output filename.
adding basically just the current date and time to a textbox/label or something like that? I have looked at coding but everyone seems to do it in such a complex way. Is there not a simple way of doing this? I don't want to use the date time picker as I don't want a user to be able to select the date or time.
How can i check the system date format? Tried with the code below, but when i change my system's date format to another date format to test the code, it's still showing the date format before changed!
Im trying to put current system time in YYMMDD format but having problem with day function. is Day() which returned day of month in VB6 not available in VB.Net? If I want to get the current day of month, how would I do that?
Dim dt As Date Dim dtString As String dtString = Year(now()) + Month(now()) + Day(now())
