Feb 25, 2010I just tried to run a project of mine that has a wpf control in it and i get the error:Exception of type 'System.ExecutionEngineException' was thrown.The error automatically closes after about 3 seconds When I create a new WPF project visual studio closes down - no error messages, also just closes with no errors if I create a form application and add a WPF control to it. Also compiled applications just bring up the "xxx has stoped working" error - even apps that are not mine such as Microsoft Pivot that use WPF?

Feb 22, 2011I'm prompted with this error 'Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown' it was thrown when filling a dataset with 400,000+ records. And I think obviously is about memory matter because of the number of records to be transfer.My program goes this way.. after filling a dataset from a table it will transfer all data into another table. Now my question is, Is it possible in vb.net that while filling a dataset it transfers the record immediately into another table? Please give me an idea on how to do this.

Oct 14, 2011My project include 350 forms, 780 thousand lines of code (350 thousand designer code).But when i want to design form, every two or three design VS gives "Exception of type 'System.OutofMemoryEception' was thrown" error. I am restart the project and this error gone until rebuild or open a few form... I couldn' work over 5 minutes...
I am looking at memory usage : devenv.exe using 500/600 mb and my sistem using 1.9 GB ram of 4GB ram .I don't think so but is VS crash or not support 350 forms in project? Is there any solution about VS memory options?

it works fine to read small file, example 2MB file, etc but it get error "Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown." when try to read 100MB file i think the error code because the file is too big

The function is declared in VB.NET code like this:

The problem is that I get an ExecutionEngineException when I call the function from .NET code.
Given that BOOL is typedef'd as int in this C code, should the declaration be different? If so, how should I be declaring this? As Short or Int32? Do I need to marshal the return value?

My intention is to 'convert' the low level exception into something more meaningful, so I throw an exception of my own creation. I want this to bubble up to a place where I can handle it.However what is happening is my debugger breaks and tells me that an exception of type "QuickBooksConnectionException" was thrown.I know that, I just threw it, why are you catching it? From what I've read, this ought to work, and there doesn't appear to be an analogous Java throws keyword, so perhaps it is my debugger.

Sep 2, 2009I have a large project where we have 2-3 dll projects that are converted from VB6 to VB.NET. We have fixed all the issues that caused compilation errors, and most of obvious issues in running, so now we have basically a program up and running. The exe is created from scratch in VB.NET, using a lot of functionality from the converted dll's (including GUI forms). What I wonder is when I run the program in debug mode, I get a bunch of warnings in the "Immediate Window" saying:
A first chance exception of type 'System.Exception' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll
...and some of other type (but most of them in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll).I was wondering if this is common in projects converted from VB6, or if it is caused by bad design in our code...

May 5, 2011I am using VS 2008, Office 2007, and Win7 Home Premium on my system.I have a simple application which should be a breeze to build. All I am attempting to do is pull data from an Access database with four small tables into a data grid on a windows project. Should be simple, set up the data connection, choose a datagrid from the table in the data source view, drag it onto the page and done, right?I can't get it to work. It will all work fine until I attempt to run or debug the project. The data will not show up. The data grid does, but I get this error: A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Data.dll
As I said, the project seems to build fine, but it will not pull the data. After the initial build I get the message that Windows will show this page in Compatibility View. Is it something with Win7 Home Premium, or a setting somewhere?
