Save Date To Mysql Database?
Sep 7, 2010I am trying to save a date to a mysql database and usually the only format permited to be saved in the table is YYYY-MM-DD
On the form the datetime picker is formated like this MM-DD-YYYY
The thing is i am using dataset created by wizard to save the data, what should i do to be able to format this for save and read because it is giving me errors.

Jun 4, 2010I'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.

Jun 10, 2011I am going to try to explain this the best I can I didn't develop the original version of this, or the part that rights it to the database.in our company, there is a program that takes PDF files and stores them in our mysql database as blobs. The blobs are attached to inventory items by the inventory items ID. they are basically certificates. That is basically all I know about it.
however, I was asked to show the PDF files for certain associates that may want to view them. ie, if a sales person looks up item 1234 and there is a stored PDF certificate for the item, be able to access the pdf and show it to the employee if they want to see it.The code that I found that was previously wrote to view the PDFs takes the blog, create the file in the app.path directory, and then uses shell to launch it like a normal PDF.
I don't have a problem using the adobe pdf reader to launch the file, but is there a more efficient way other than creating the file on any machine in our company where someone wants to view the PDF ?

For example the string '12/1/2012' is stored as as December 1, 2012 not January 12, 2012.

Storing String Item In A Date / Time DataColumn Of A DataTable
May 27, 2009I have a datatable which loads data from an Excel Spreadsheet. One of the columns in the Excel SpreadSheet was of type "Date/Time" in which date values are stored. Now I appended the datatable with three new rows and I wanted to store string values in these rows using the code below. However due to the fact that one of the columns are date/time type, an error is generated as date/time column does not accept string value. I have two questions
a. Is it possible to store string value in date/time DataColumn?
b. Is there a remedy to this situation? [code]

Jun 22, 2010I have been disturbed for a week now. I have a project in vb.net. And on forms I have two masked text boxes. One is for the user to enter their date of birth and in the second one Iam trying to get the date the record is created. With this one I get the current date from pc and format it to dd/mm/yyyy because I want the user to understand the date. How do I INSERT the user date of birth and the the Now () date which is also in masked text box into a MYSQL database? I know how to insert other text but the date fails to appear in database.
