I am outputting some stuff into a textbox but when ever i do a new line I get three little square boxes. I have tried vbnewline, controlchars. newline, controlchars.crlf, vbcrlf, chr(13) + chr(10), and environment.newline.If I copy the the text from the textbox into wordpad I dont get that problem.
View 5 RepliesI made a form with text boxes in a 6x6 square pattern. It will do a streamreader from a text file a number that indicates the size of the array. Then fill in the boxes with the numbers of the array. Then it will calculate the rows and columns to see if they add up to a single answer. Then it will display to an output window if it is a magic square or not. Meaning if all rows and columns add up to a single number its magic. If they dont add up to the same number then its not magic. Then it will repeat this check and output from the information of the other arrays from the text file.
I know how to code for the streamreader and get it to add the rows and columns. Im not sure about what code I need so it can check the answer if its magic or not and repeat it till the end.

[code]The code within the Private Sub replace the spaces within txtCallnumber.Text with carriage return line feed and does what I need it to, but when I place the code into the Private Sub that is above it places the carriage return line feed into the cells in the datagridview: column(CALL NUMBER). The txtCallnumber.Text is bound to the DataGridView column(CALLNUMBER). I do not want the DataGridView column(CALLNUMBER) to have the carriage return line feed

I've tried everything including setting the text property on the load screen function and using the vbCrLf and I just see the Line feed square but not multiple lines. I've also tried resizing the box and that didn't work either. how to make the text span multiple lines?
View 6 RepliesI've seen this type of line in many post on here..I been rolling this over in my head and i think that this line or something close to it is a bad idea. For index As Integer = ListView1.Items.Count -1 the above line assumes that on the last line the person has hit the enter button which is VBCrLf(carriage return and Line Feed) in which case the above line would be ok..however if the last line does not contain a CrLf then you in effect are skipping the last line.

so I am looping through a datatable and getting each name from each row, that is working well but when I get the email it appears in my inbox with all the names mashed together, you see I am trying both vbcrlf and newline but looks like neither is working
i have found some info on this but nothing i can use... im using vb.net to automate excel before i print the excel worksheet i need to change the printers setting to use the manual feed tray instead of the auto feed

I am trying to figure something out. I have an application in which I am adding the ability to consume a feed. I have no problem with the feed itself, but my problem is how can I mark certain items as 'read'? The only thing I can thing of is to read the feed into a database. In this database, I add a column for 'read' which I update when the user has read the article. Then each time I retrieve the feed, I compare the feed to the database and only load new items into the database.

I'm using 16 x 16 pictureboxes named PictureBox1, PictureBox2, etcThe issue is that when I put the images into all the pictureboxes, I have to have a line for each picturebox (so say I have 100 boxes, I have 100 lines).The only difference in each line is the picturebox number, the rest is identical. I'm basically telling it to set that picturebox's image based on the number that a variable I've created has stored.I've got a game idea, and I'm just trying to figure out how to do the map. I want it to work like the old school RPG games like Dragon Warrior, or the more recent Dwarf Fortress. I'm still not sure if I want to use graphics or letters. I've been writing a weight program for flooded pressure vessels and I'm having trouble retrieving the data from the text files I've been saving. I know how to write the data to the text file, but retrieving it with OpenFileDialog is not so easy for me.The user has individual text boxes that they input strings or numbers into and when they save the file, each text box input is written to one line in the text file. For example, the first text box is for the username, therefore the first line of text that is saved is the person's name, the second text box is the customer, thus the second line in the text file is the customer name, and so on.
(Actually, the first line of text in the saved file designates whether English units were used or Metric units because when the user retrieves the saved file, English units will open one form and Metric units will open a separate form, so some If...Then statement will need to occur).I need to be able to read the first line, have either my "EnglishForm"form open or my "MetricForm" form open, and then have each subsequent line of text be displayed in their corresponding text boxes. I know I need to use ReadLine or LineInput, but I don't have a clue what to do.Assuming the syntax I've displayed below would just magically work (if only life were that easy), it would look something like this

I don't know if you can tell what I am trying to do here, so I will try to explain. I what to create for random numbers and place them into for different text boxes. I also would like to do this with combo boxes and their selected indexes. So if the combo box has 10 items in it; the new selected index would be the random number generated above.

This involves the customer giving the employee information such as name, address, postcode etc and the employee inputting that information into text boxes and combo boxes that are in the application.
What I would like to be able to do is after the customers information is given over the phone, I need to be able to send that information to a database which will probably most likely be done by button click. In this case, I'm using Microsoft Access. I'm also hoping that I can do this within Visual Basic coding.
The database is set out with multiple tables which include a customer table and a ticket table and both have multiple fields such as first name, surname in the customers table. Both of these tables are in use with the information that the customer gives over the phone.

Im trying to make a program that allows the user to view additional information via moving the cursor over the label to view (make visble) additional information, in the form of text boxes and/or picture boxes. How will i go about doing this?

The web browser control navigates to a local website and automatically logs in for the end user. This is done by using code which automatically fills in the username and password and then submits the form to logon using something similar to this: WebBrowser1.Document.Forms.Item(, 0).elements("txtUsername").value = "user"
Once logged on - there is a search page which contains a combo box and list box. I am trying to set specific values for the combo box and list boxes.For example - the combo box on the website is titled: cbxDate and contains the following values: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month.
A list box titled: lstArea contains the following values: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, All.I am trying to figure out if there is a way through code to select, in this example, "Yesterday" in the cbxDate and "Zone B" in the lstArea on the webpage.If anyone knows of a solution, please feel free to let me know. The code I have only retrieves the first 20 posts rather than all of the 133 posts that I see.
I am linking the problem to cookie settings. I seem to think that the request I am sending is not incorporating the cookie settings that I have on my computer.
You may have to subscribe to a feed to extract more than 20 posts. The standard for RSS feeds (without subscriptions) only allows a user to view 20 posts, HOWEVER, with subscription, the feed's number of posts grows.

I'm semi new to visual basic, and I wanted to know if it is possible to make an RSS feed in visual basic that updates through a homepage that I give a link to and will post the information about the homepage in a text box or in seperate labels and perhaps have them link to the feed it is getting the info from. This I slikely far fetched but if there is any way to bring an RSS feed into the picture for my launcher for world of Warcraft that I am making customly, (Yes I know the regular wow launcher is good but I have a custom one I made with command buttons that lead to forums and homepage and play retail wow along with a private server command button)

I am reading data from an API feed and saving the chunks into files. When the files reach 2 MB I start a new file and write to that file. What happens now is that an entry (<entry></entry>) can get cut off at the end of a file and continues into the new file. I try and reconstruct the files by taking the last entry and combining it with the first entry of the next file but this is tedious handling the data transmission and file creation.

How do I consume my WordPress blog's RSS feed to display my latest blog posts on my homepage? I ran into the following piece of code to do this:

But it errors out at this line: 'ds.ReadXml(reader)' with the following error:
A column named 'comments' already belongs to this DataTable.
Perhaps it doesn't work since this code is from 2003? Does anyone have a working code sample?
