Make A Program Where Can Keep Track Of Progress?
Sep 8, 2009I'm trying to make a program where you can keep track of your progress through various projects your doing. I'd like to have it so they can add a new project via the text box/button and then when they click on that project from a listbox or something(still trying to figure out the best way) it shows the notes they have typed etc. I know how to make it so its saved when they exit and all that good stuff but I'm not sure how I would do everything else.

It is just a text file, and is rather small, so it downloads really quickly. But I do believe that in the future the file will become considerably large. Is there a way to track the downloading progress from the above method?
Track The Progress Of A Meter In A Flash Window?
Dec 27, 2010I am trying to track the progress of a meter in a flash window and click when it reaches a certain point. I am currently using getpixel() to "watch" a single pixel and when it changes to green, perfrom a click. Problem is i have to "watch a pixel" about 20 pixels left of the intended target and then click. Reason, when the program has realized the pixel is green, it clicks, but this has not been as accurate as needed. Sometimes it clicks to soon and sometimes it clicks to late.
Before you suggest using DIBS, i didn't use it because i am loading a 1x1 screenshot and watching that pixel in a loop. I figured since i was continously loading a new bitmap via getpixel that dibs would not be any quicker. The way i read dibs is that if i was loading a bunch of pixels it would be faster because it goes ahead and loads into an array.Is there another way to monitor a meter in a flash window?

Use A Power Meter To Track The Progress Of Program?
Oct 20, 2010I am trying to use a power meter to track the progress of my program; this will be for my use only and will be removed later. I would also like to display the percentage run in the meter. I already know what the start and end points will be for the meter. What do I need to search for? I have been looking and haven�t been able to find anything that suits my needs yet. May 22, 2009I am trying to create a log file which I am going to use to populate some controls (DataGridView or Treeview). I am trying to figure out if should use text files or XML files to do so. Effectively the log will highlight multiple phases in a client-side app. The log will be written to at various phases when the project is running. The user will always have the options move on to the next phase or save progress and exit the project. As such, I want the log file to highlight how far the user has progressed throught the various phases AND I want the log to highlight varous information from each phase. Whenever the user starts the project, they will be given the option to load existing log files. So the project will have to read these log files and append them where necessary as the user progresses.
I am not sure what the best way to do this is and below is a rudimentary approach using text files. As you can see, the top of the file would have a summary of all the phases and whether or not the user completed each phase. Next each phase would have a data section highlighting what data was stored along the way. I have used a ":" to denote each section. Then within each section I would obviously need to use a delimeter for all my data. So if Phase1 = True, then I would load all the pertinent data from "Phase1:" into the desired control. Can anyone provide an efficient way of doing this and provide some insight as to whether I should use XML instead. The phases my change during development and I am not sure yet which controls I will be using. Does XML provide more flexibility.
In summary I am looking to create, read/write and append log files and populate controls with the data in varous sections of the log file. Example:

Mar 28, 2011I have a filesystemwatcher which place files in a queue when they are created. From the queue the files are further processed (xml into SQL database).
The mechanism works fine, but I want to add a progress bar to follow the progress of the files in the queue: processing 1 of 10......2 of 10......3 of 10 etc.For testing, I created a batch file to simulate the creation of files, so the filesystemwatcher can to his work and place the files in the queue. Progress Bar To Show The Progress Of The Current Task?
Jun 11, 2010In the app I'm currently making, I have two progress bars. One for current task being committed and the other is for overall progress.During runtime, I calculate how many tasks are being run and set that as the maximum. As each task completes, the progress bar is incremented by one.
I want the current task progress bar to show the progress of the current task. Some tasks can take a few minutes to complete so that progress bar works great. But, if the task is super quick, like editing registry keys, I see no progress at all.When I edit the registry, it basically goes like this:

It completes so quickly that I never see the bar even move.I also have each task report its name into a label and it skips ahead so quickly that I only see the first task name and the last.Is there any way to make this do a better job at reporting the progress?

Jul 22, 2011I came across a problem in my program it takes too long to calculate the values needed (about 10 sec) .But thats not the problem you don't know when the program is working or not, as it just locks up until its finshed and I view that as a problem.
I need to be able to show the progress of this .I looked at using background Workers but I get exception "Object reference not set to an instance" I believe this is because the background worker cannot write values or something ,As it works will a normal handler.

What i'm working on is an application to save screenshots to files as soon as the 'Print Screen' key is pressed, as Jpegs or what ever. What i want to do is be able to minimize the application and I still want the application pick up on any 'Print Screen' presses, and save the screenshots. I've tried using the KeyPress event, but I soon realized that it only worked when the application had focus. I plan on using it to save screenshots every time I press 'Print Screen'
