i'm new here but i've been having a problem lately with a sql query inside the code i'm writing, and i don't know what else to do. I've been trying to retrieve data from a table, and i want to use a variable for the "where" field in the SQL query, but it keeps saying that the data are not the same type. [code] The point is, i need it to be an integer because the primary key is the same, but i can't figure out how to specify it. I hope i posted this on the aproppiate place, and if not, i apologize, but i didn't have much time to go through it.
I am developing an application with an Access DB, and i'm having trouble retrieving data from the db, i want to count how many operations have been made through two dates that i'm passing from a datetimepicker, and i can't manage to do it, since i keep getting an error saying "Data type mismatch in criteria expression". In the db, i have that date field type as a date. Before, i had it as a text, but it wouldn't work if i selected one date of x month and the other date from a different month. So, my question is, how do i indicate the type of data in the sql query? [code]
I try to show my table data type in datagridview vb.net.[code]I try login using username "system". When I run this code, I got error message "ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement".
I have database with table called "Konzultacije" with field "Vrijeme" (Date/Time). I have datagridview (DGKonzultacije) with columns. Column (1) data format is set to date/time. I want to delete record from "Konzultacije" table depending on selected cell in datagridview but only I can get is error.
This is my code:
Dim iSql As String = "DELETE FROM Konzultacije WHERE Vrijeme = " & DGKonzultacije.CurrentRow.Cells(1).Value conn.Open()
[CODE]...
If i add apostrophe like this:
Dim iSql As String = "DELETE FROM Konzultacije WHERE Vrijeme = '" & DGKonzultacije.CurrentRow.Cells(1).Value & "'"
error is raised: Data type mismatch in criteria expression.
I've pieced together some information from other posts but I'm stuck. The first part works fine. Basically I query the database using LINQ and then I loop through the results generating a report.
I need to create a function which have either 1 parameter with a string as data type or 2 parameters with double as data type.Something like the substring method.
I'v designed a ms access database table with one field having Datetime datatype. I can Insert data into it from vb.net front end by trns_dt DateTime.Now.DateBut when I fetch records from the tableand assign the dataset datasource as da, it shows datatype mismatch error.
I have a program that calculates commission, but if the commission is nothing then I do not want it to show a zero commission. I want a message box to show a message that there is no commission earned.
My colleague gave me a DLL that manage all database business. I wanted to invoke a function that uses Stored Procedure and return the search result. In the function receive a parameter type in ystem.Data.IDataParameter[]. Below is my codes.
I added this lines in the form load of DataGridPrinter by Merrion in the codebank..[code]Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.DataViewManager' to type 'System.Data.DataTable'.
[code] "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value. The statement has been terminated." [code]
I have a number of controls (Device1, Device2, etc.) that all inherit from BaseDeviceControl. In the DragEnter event handler I am trying to test for the correct type by using the BaseDevvceControl like this....
I am pulling data from a local MSSQL database using a stored procedure, then send the data to a web service. Every part of the component works well except for a pesky problem will a DBNull being returned from the DataRow field, when I know that the field is not null and has valid data. The database and associated INSERT statements that add to this field are designed to not allow NULL entries. When I debug break the program on or right before the line that throws the error I see that the field has valid data for the current row.If I add a null check to the code (as below) the operation continues as normal:
Dim dataResultsTable = Me.myViewTableAdapter.GetData(int) For Each myDataRow In dataResultsTable.Rows If worker.CancellationPending Then
[code]....
Why is the read operation returning DBNull instead of the data in the database?
EDIT: Just to be clear, the operation does return the proper data, but the data is not being saved into the variable.
In the code above, if there are no children (the ChildrenPath property returns NULL), nothing is rendered in the view. In the code below, when ChildrenDataSetPath is NULL the XamDataGrid still gets rendered. How do I achieve the same for a single object (as opposed to a collection) as the datacontext?
I'm out of my depth populating a windows form from an XML linq query (see code further down in post). The listbox is populated as intended, when a value is selected (row) I would like to populate the remaining form controls. The linq query I believe has created a new datatype "Anonymous Types". The query is only local to the load form subroutine but I'm not sure how to make it global.
When I define the query simply as an object the code in the selectedValueChanged event can't execute due to late databinding. how I can initially load the listbox from linq xml query and then populate the other controls when the value changes? Am I right in thinking even though the listbox is multi-columns (property) you can ONLY ever reference a row and NOT a column? I'm new to LINQ and Anonymous Types and the more I read the more confused I seem to get. On a less important note the order by is not functioning as intended (no errors) but data is always retrieved in xml file order and not by the node <text>. Also looked at using <text>.first to order the results without success.
Public Shared Function GetAllNotesByUser(ByVal UserID As Guid) As Account (??) Using db As New MyEntity Dim query= (From A In db.Account _
[Code].....
I would then like to pass this to another function to calculate the totals for all the accounts in the collection. Is it best practice to return an Ienumerable, a generic list, I'm just not sure what works best with LINQ and the entity framework.
I've got a problem in one of my SQL queries, the type GUID can't be used with the operator & (obviously from the title). Here's the few lines of code which I'm using:
Dim ClientsAssetID As Guid = New Guid(ClientsAssetIDTextBox.Text) Dim Client1 As Guid = New Guid(Client1TextBox.Text) Dim Client2 As Guid = New Guid(Client2TextBox.Text)
[code]....
ClientsAsset, Client1, Client2 and Client3 are all of type GUID, but are entered into the textboxes as strings, are converted to guid and then should all go smoothly into the query, but it's having a problem with linking everything together. The error I'm getting is "Operator '&' is not defined for types 'String' and 'System.Guid'.How do I fix this? I've tried a few different things, such as using Ctype in the query, but they have also circled back to this error.
SELECT C1, C2, C3 FROM T1 WHERE T1.C4='xyz' AND EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM T2 WHERE T1.C17 = T2.C24) ORDER BY C3
I'm using EF CTP 5, so I have a DBContext variable named dbc, which includes DBSet objects T1s and T2s, based on POCOs T1 and T2.
In LINQ I write
DIM IND = From i In dbc.T1s Where i.C4 = "xyz" And (From t In dbc.T2s Where i.C17 = t.C24).Any Select i.C1, i.C2, i.C3 Order By C3
Running the query I get the error message "Unable to create a constant value of type 'T2'. Only primitive types ('such as Int32, String, and Guid') are supported in this context." When I omit the inner expression (third line in the LINQ code), the query runs fine. I tried switching the orders of the inner comparison, to be t.C24 = i.C17, with no effect.
I am using VB .Net for this, so I don't have access to var or this would be a simple matter.Right now my query is as follows
[code]...
So I used this query in LinqPad to help me determine what the object would look like. I got back a IOrderQueryable(Of RSError) which then contained a IGrouping(Of String, RSError) for each grouped collection of objects returned by the query. However I ended up with the current object type of errors as IOrderedQueryable(Of IGrouping(Of String, RSError)) because of the cast error I am getting in VS.
[code]...
I'm not sure how to get rid of the VB$AnonymousType_1 Part of the returned object.Am I even on the right track here or am I missing something completely?
Public Shared Function GetQueryStringValue(Of T As Structure)(ByVal queryStringVariable As String) As T Dim queryStringObject As Nullable(Of T) = Nothing If queryStringVariable <> Nothing Then If HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString(queryStringVariable) IsNot Nothing Then queryStringObject = DirectCast(HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString(queryStringVariable), T) End If
I'd normally do this in C# but since I've got to get this code in this particular assembly which is a vb.net one, I'm stuck.
Here's my linq query:
Dim i As Integer = 0
Dim oldAndCurrentIntersectionOnNames = From currentApplicant In currentApplicants _ Group Join oldApplicant In oldApplicants _
[CODE]...
You'll see the .Index = i+=1
This was my attempt to do what I'd quite happily do in C# (i.e. Index = i++) in VB. Unfortunately the VB compiler doesn't like that. how I'd do this in VB.
