Unable To Type Text In A Search Box (textbox1) And Have The Datagrid Adjust At The Same Time?

I want to be able to type text in a search box (textbox1) and have the datagrid adjust at the same time. My datagridview is called DGEstudent and the data source is dataset2 and is pulling from the student table. As soon as I start typing in the textbox my datagrid just goes blank. I have a form. it has a textbox called textbox1. form has datagridview called datagridview1 on it which has datasource set to: tblEmployee. Which is connected from EmployeeData.mdf. This is an SQLServer connection.
I want to be able to type the text in search box(textbox1) and the datagrid shold adjust at the same time.
So if i am typing "Joh"... the datagrid should automatically change to narrow rows with Forename that has "John" in it.

How do i do this. i want to be able to press a button and the text from textbox1 (25 numbers) will be added as a new line to a list box. i would also like it to save so next time the i open the program the text that went from textbox1 will still be in the list box. i am also using Visual Basic Express Edition 2010.

I have got the following code for if in textbox1 the would be appear as 10:10:00 AM and in textbox2 the time will appear as in 4 hours time slots automatically as 06:10:01 AM ..if the textbox2 time will be 06:10:01 AM then MSg box will appear that "You can not registered to this site because the 4 hours time slot will be over " [code]Remember in textbox1 the time would be any .....and textbox2 will auto generate time according to textbox1 to maintain 4 hours time slots between textbox1 and textbox2

I'm making a program that I need to put a button in that when you click it it sends the writing in form1's textbox1 one to the email you type in dialog1's textbox1.
Basically I have a textbox and button on Form1 that when you press it opens dialogbox1. In dialogbox1 there is a textbox and a send button. I need to make it so when you press send it sends an email to the email adress you type in the textbox and the body of the email is whats in textbox1 of form1.

I have a program that reads a file with Pacific Daylight Time, I want users to see the time and date in their local environment.
At present I have in Australia a time difference of 18 hours, so I have a list box with -24 to +24 and currently set at 18, my code is elementary as long as I have moved past day one of the month it suits me personally, but I want to distribute my app, so I need something better.

so i have this data grid, which i wanna search , base on specific criteria from two or more text boxes; eg a user wants to search employees from karachi, so they enter karachi in the first text box. now they want to search employees from karachi whose status is permanent, so they enter permanent in the second text box, and the data grid shows employees from karachi whose status is permanent.
For search from ONE text box, i have used the following code :

In some text boxes I enter times like "08:00 16:00" then another textbox next to it will display 8 hours then a label at the bottom calculates the total overall hours. There are a total of 7 textboxes for times entered and like the example above and another 7 for the calculation of that days hours worked. My problem is when I enter "08:00 16:30" the total hours in that text box would be displayed "8.5 hours". I need to tweak this so it is displayed 8 1/2 hours. My second issue is that the label that displays the overall hours only calculates if I enter times like "08:00 16:00" if i entered "08:00 16:30" it would not calculate

I've been trying to make up a Ghost Text Box, so that it shows some 'ghost' text when its contains nothing.
What i did was inherit from the normal textbox, and use OnPaint to show the ghost text, the User paint is switch on/off depending on if there is any text in the textbox.If i start (in the design) and add some text it all works as i expect at runtime, but the text does not get shown at design time (for some reason)
If i clear the text at design time, then it shows the ghosted text at design tim. At runtime the ghosted text is shown, but when you click in the box and hit a key, the key is shown in bold, which is odd as the font is not in bold.

I have noticed in a windows-based VB application I am working on when the "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes" is de-selected, the time in the application is off by one hour. Is there anyway to make the application not sensitive to that and just display the date value that is retrieved from the database?

I am trying to search a Access Db via a TextBox1 a Button1 and a dataviewgrid.My sql statement loks like this:
Select LastName FROM Clients WHERE (LastName LIKE 'TextBox1.text')
This doesn't work I have tried '" & "' around the textbox words I've tried '& TexBox1 &'. This I tried to learn from Data over forms video-- LIKE @LastName +'%' that really didn't work. If I use = "Bla bla" it will work but the LIKE word does not. Even a point in the right direction. I've spent many many many hours on this. And what makes me mad is I've done it somhow before even with a combobox as a variable in the SELECT "var" but anywayI'm wondering now if the LIKE statement isn't used in Access? and if the % wildcard is used in Access?

I am implementing IMAPI2 into my vb.net project but ran into a wall. I am getting the message Unable to cast object of type 'IMAPI2FS.FsiStreamClass' to type 'IMAPI2.IStream' when trying to start the burn. I googled around and found this is something that microsoft hasn't fixed.. which basically renders IMAPI2 useless in vb.net.
I found a post on codeproject.com by eric hadden who combined the IMAPI2.dll and IMAPI2fs.dll into an c# interop file. I also see the IBURN interop in microsoft SDK samples. I'd like to use either, but it's in c# and I'm using vb express. Does anyone know a way to get the interop into visual basic or a way around "Unable to cast object of type 'IMAPI2FS.FsiStreamClass' to type 'IMAPI2.IStream'"?

I'm having a problem with converting from one source type to a destination type. I have a form with 2 buttons (button 2 uses the OpenFileDialog to have the user open an excel file set to NewFile),(button 1 takes the contents from specific cells in NewFile and arranges them how I need into oXLApp1).
