Feb 15, 2010I will be downloading updates for my database and client from a separate executable that will only be used for updating.In order to prevent someone from just decompiling my app through reflector and obtaining the password to the FTP server, what would be the best way to store the FTP password?
I was thinking I could create a table in my SQL database and store it there since a SQL database is way more secure than my app.

Mar 30, 2010I made a little program for Hobby-use, and I like it to be installed by an installer. There's an installer program (Windows Installer 3.1?) deliverd with Visual Studio 2008 but that does not do the job completely. I want a coupling to be made between a program and a the users startup directory.If Windows Installer 3.1 can do that after all, can somebody explain how? If not, is there a free or low cost, simple to use (no scripting) installer program what will do the job? At last: Is there a version of .NET Framework 3.5 that does not require downloading during the user's setup procedure?

Aug 28, 2011I have a pretty good understanding of VB.NET. Basically I'm trying to fill in the password to login to a school website, but for some reason it won't fill the value in. The closest that I've come is getting the password to appear on screen, but it's not masked with asterisks and when I click login it says invalid password. It's almost as if it edits the label right before the text box for the password.
Here's a section of the html code from the login page:

Dec 7, 2009I am writing a program which allows me to log in to my favorite forum, and displays me my fav. threads, and automatically refreshes current thread every 30 seconds or so.For this, I first need to login to the forum page. Fortunately, the forum allows to login during posting a new message, and it's a public forum so browsing threads is possible without login. Therefore I can directly jump to the "edit article" page without login, fill in login information and write the post, and then send it altogether. Here is an example link for that:

Oct 19, 2010I am currently creating a tool that can manage local user accounts on Windows-PCs. I am using the functions described on
this MSDN page ; and after some struggling, I got most of them to work.
Unluckily, I haven't found a way to set the option "User must change password at next logon" while creating a new user account. I use the
NetUserAdd -Function to create the new user. I set the level to 1 and supply a
USER_INFO_1 -Structure . This structure accepts flags, and the flag UF_PASSWORD_EXPIRED seems to be exactly what I want - but when I set it, the user can log on without changing the password first...
I'm developing on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit using Visual Studio 2010 Express.

So far I have the password showing up as the password in clear text the first time and in *s the next two times. I found code that will allow me to validate a users ID and Password entered into a form (using System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry) but my problem is if the user enters an invalid password more that AD is configured to allow, the account gets locked out.
