Im trying to position a window with MoveWindow() API but it just keeps hiding the window and it has to be maximised to be able to see it.
The code im using is
Public Declare Function MoveWindow Lib "user32" _
(ByVal hwnd As Long, _
ByVal x As Long, _

So the code below is called when a user selects Save on an ExtJS popup modal window. This window ONLY contains a combobox. Now, sometimes when a user saves this, and then re-opens it later on, the combobox will appear BEHIND the window all grayed out, unable to get to. Other times, it will be fine and work, and no difference in events happening either time, just complete utter inconsistency.

I have a program that in its essence is this:
Public Class Form1
Sub CopyUtility_Load(ByVal eventSender As System.Object, ByVal eventArgs As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
[code]......
So I have been using MoveWindow to resize a hwnd:

The problem is that this doesn't work on different computers. If I want to mouseclick at coordinate 55,55 on my own computer, it will actually click there. However, if I mouseclick at coordinate 55,55 on my girlfriend's computer, it will click at a different position. It will be near 55,55, but it won't be the same as on my computer.What can I use to resize a window that will work on both my PC and hers?
What is the best way to resize & move a form using just VB commands? I have a form that I need to set the Height and Top props, problem is that takes two calls and there is a noticable flicker. I tried using SuspendLayout/ResumeLayout, DoubleBuffered, swaping the top and height calls around, etc, but nothing seems to help. The test forms only have one small listview and one or two buttons. View 2 RepliesI have a form which I am adding a gradient to. However on this form I have aTableLayoutPanel (with controls) with the dock set to Fill. When it fills it covers up the form and the gradient on the form. Is it possible to make the TableLayout Panel and its controls colour clear or can you pass the same gradient color from the form to all the controls in the TableLAyout Panel (including the TableLAyoutPanel).

View 7 Repliesi have a form when it appears it has 5 textboxes and 5 labels and a button. the user enters the information in all 5 textboxes and the button dims each as a string eg dim netno as string netno = textbox1.text
it then hides all boxes and labels and displays a datagridview.when the user presses the add record i want it to place the data in the netno in the column0 field for the new record and then focus on the next column automatically,
I have a main form that hides when i open other forms from it. On the child forms i have a menu strip with file:exit and help:about. When i click on file:exit the form closes and the main form opens. using the following:

That all works fine. What ineed is to get the same results when a user clicks on the x in the top right corner.
I have a form that has a toolbar and a status bar on it. After the form's InitializeComponent method is ran, I add a listview control to it and set the listview's dock property to fill. The listview is actually an overridden listview with an overridded constructor - that's why I don't just add the listview using the designer.
But the listview tucks itself up under the toolbar. It looks like the bottom of the listview respects the presence of the status bar. It's just the top of the listview that is giving me problems. So, any guesses as to what I may be doing wrong - why the listview tries to fill dock underneath the toolbar?
End A statement which as far as i know doesn't close you program properly and hides errors. Right now i'm being forced to use end because i don't know how else to close my program properly. I'm not sure where my problem is but some of you should be able to fix it. I'm trying to make a game using directx with a game loop. This code is the skeleton of what i'm making.
Public Class Form1
Private ProgRunning As Boolean = True
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Me.Show() 'Make the form appear
Me.Focus() 'Give the form focus
[CODE]...
This code runs alright because end is being used but if you rem end out the error which it's hiding comes out. The error is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I'm not totally sure but i'm guessing that the error is refering to the form.
anyone knows the equivalent code for App.TaskVisible in VB.net? App.TaskVisible is from VB6 which hides the application in the applications list in task manager and not in the processes list tab.
View 1 RepliesWhen I press "Show Desktop" button in the taskbar my main form "disappears". The only way to show it again is by pressing an other program which is open in the taskbar (lets say Word) to rise and unrise again.

the program is a simple hangman game that lets player one select a word from 1-10 letters and the other player needs to guess within 10 guesses.

I am trying to find the handle of the child window for the Yes button in the User Account Control window so i can click it. This window has a structure with a few child windows with the same name.
Dim hwnd As IntPtr = FindWindow(Nothing, "User Account Control")
Dim hwnd2 As IntPtr = FindWindowEx(hwnd, 0, "DirectUIHWND", vbNullString)
Dim hwnd3 As IntPtr = FindWindowEx(hwnd2, 0, "CtrlNotifySink", vbNullString)
Dim hwnd4 As IntPtr = FindWindowEx(hwnd3, 0, "Button", "&Yes")
There are multiple CtrNotifySink with its own Button child window or other child windows. How do i search thru the different CtrNotifySink window to find the one that contain the Yes button so i can send a click to it? I do need to find it before i can send a click, right? because i try just sending it to the main window with sendmessage and nothing happen.I even try sending it directly to the handle found by spy++ of the yes button with bm click but nothing happen?

Excuse me for posting this, but I have searched both Google along with this forum before asking this question, maybe I'm not using the right keywords but I apologize if it's easy to find.I would like to know how one could close a third-party window (application) if a specified string was found in the window title.
View 2 RepliesI have a VB.NET application that uses Managed DirectSound to capture audio.Everything works just fine until (a) the application is minimized or (b) the application is completey obstructed (covered) by another window.
The thing is that the CaptureBufferDescription structure does not include a GlobalFocus property so I don't know what to do to let my application continue capturing when the main window is hidden.
Here's the basic initialization code I'm using:
' Create a buffer description object
bufCapDesc = New CaptureBufferDescription()
With bufCapDesc

border of that said window so the only place the mouse can't click the titlebar and the minimize,restore, and maximize button. The height of the titlebar depends on what OS the user is using so I'm having trouble because I can't give a definite value for this. How do I detect the height. and also for border i'm not sure if the borders have different widths with different operating systems. I'm using windows XP on classic mode, when I change to the themed mode, the height of the title bar changes so it won't work.

Public Event CloseApp As EventHandler
Private Sub CancelButton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles CancelButton.Click
