I've noticed that in VS2008 when I typed for eg " Public property MyProperty() as string " and pressed the enter..I was getting automatically the expected result. Meaning by that , that VS2008 was generating for me the rest of the code. [code] In Visual Studio 2010 I am not getting this anymore. What happened ? Is this feature still working in VS 2010 ?

View 10 RepliesI know I'm not the only developer experiencing this issue but only within the last month I started receiving Visual Studio 2010 hangs while running running a simple ASPX web project within the IDE. On stopping the execution or closing the web page VS2010 hangs and becomes completely unusable - stating that VS is busy. It never returns and I have to stop the DEVENV process, resulting in a complete shutdown of VS.
Until now (1 1/2 years) I've been developing a Winforms application with no issues, other than VS2010 IDE errors that have been documented and I've been able to work around. Now, like my Web project, I am also experiencing the same hang but not as frequently. Other documented cases is this forum don't apply in this case since I'm not working with an IIS web site.
Additionally, in reading the forum messages I notice this issue has been around for years and has caused a great deal of grief and delay to many development projects. I'm running Win7 Pro, VS2010 pro on a Pentium Dual-Core CPU 2.20 Ghz with 4 GB memory laptop running in 32 bit mode. I'm very concerned at this stage of the process to upgrade to VS2010 SP1 since I've read too many horror stories online and can't take the risk of affecting the only support environment i have for Winforms application that is currently in production
Visual studio nicely provides built-in auto-complete functionality for text boxes and combo boxes. I am using the suggest method of auto complete that provides the user with a list of choices filteres by what they have type. The problem I am having is that when the user makes a selection (via the mouse) VS places the selected text into the textbox and also simulates the enter key being pressed on the textbox.In my program the enter keyup event is used to send the text entered in the text box to the a COM port. In order for this to work as desired the user must be able to select an auto-complete option and then add to it so that they can change settings.Is it possible to stop it from triggering that event or to intercept it? I am unsure if it is possible or how to determine the origin of a keypress.

The auto-complete functionality was accomplished through the properties of the control, the only code for that was to generate the auto-complete list.
Often I reach a breakpoint. Then I want to move the run cursor above. unable to set the next statement to this location.
Then visual studio keeps running even though we're in a breakpoint.

In Visual Studio 2010 express (using vb.net) I've somehow set two forms to use the same class.
Basicly I have two designer files with 1 implementation each. For some reason both designer files are calling the same implementation file, and I can't find any settings to correct the problem.
I would like to run a .exe file made with visual studio 2003 but I get an error every time I run it on a windows 7 machine, vista machine, and xp machine. The error on Windows 7 and vista says "application has stopped working" and then makes me close the error box. In windows xp it's a little different error, "the application failed to operate (0xc0000135) Click on OK to terminate the application."

View 1 RepliesI wrote this VB program to be able to throw a device we developed into programming mode where we use an ATMEL Flip installer to upload new firmware. I can program one device after another running the application off of Visual Studio Express 2010 or Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to publish this file and run it on another machine, it becomes unstable and crashes after each upload. On those same computers if I run the raw unpackaged program under Visual Studio Express, the system does not crash, and I can program devices repeatedly.

I created a VB.Net program in Visual Studio 2010 Pro. Everything runs fine in debug mode on my developement machine. I'm using setup builder installation and cryptolicensing for the license.dll. I have checked the setup program and all the files are installed on the test pc as required. The program was developed on the 4.0 client Framework. The problem is when I install the program on the test computer it will not open or run. No indication of why no messages, nothing. Can anyone steer me where to begin to find out why this is happening.

But my program doesnt work though flash player is present there(I have used flash animation in first form). To be more sure about it I have installed Flash. But its not working! That means flash animation file(.swf) is not making problem! It needs support from visual studio to start. Doesnt it mean that some files are not attached with setup file as a result it needs visual studio to run? View 4 RepliesI had Visual Studio nicely set up with Solution Explorer, Document Outline, Toolbox and a few other things stacked up on the left hand side. Now whenever I run a program, a stack of 6 square windows opens up behind my form: Autos, Data Sources, Locals, Call Stack, Watch and Properties. I have to close them all before my program will close. And then my preferred layout has vanished. I can't find any Visual Studio settings that seem to affect this, but maybe I don't know my way around it well enough.

OK, So I am making a program in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. I have gotten all the forms and everything correct. Except the text color. I need to make it so when they reach the end and it says if they got it right or not, that the program changes the textbox's text color. The code I currently have is when form2 = the first word in the spelling test. Form2.textbox1 is the first place where the user puts the answer. Form1.Textbox1 is where the user puts the original word.
