I am getting a strange error when I try to build my solution. The error occurs when I am calling the oGetHeaderValue function and passing the parameters.
Dim oGetHeaderValue As New clsGetHeaderValue
Dim returnString As String
returnString = oGetHeaderValue(strInvoiceNumber, strOrderNumber)
The error message is: Class 'clsGetHeaderValue' cannot be indexed because it has no default property.

I'm having a few problems converting some code into VB.NET from C#. Most of the translating is done, but I am getting errors when I try to run my code, and I can't figure out what is causing them. Here is the Sub I translated.
Public Sub CreateWidget()
Dim blue As LCDColor
blue.Red = 0
blue.Green = 0
[code]....
The error I receive on this line ("vision.Widgets.CreateWidget(wg1)") reads "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user."

I have a listbox and I want to loop through each of the items to see if the string im looking for is inside. I know I could do .contains but that wouldnt look at substrings. The code im using looks like this:
While tempInt > Listbox.items.count then
if searchString.contains(listbox(tempInt)) then
end if
tempInt+=1
end while
Everything in the loop is fine but VB gives an error on the listbox(tempInt) part. The error is "class windows.forms.listbox cannot be indexed because it has no default value". get around the default value crap? I tried putting in a blank string but no change.

I 'd like to enable the user to apply a custom filter to a System.Data.DataTable.At the moment I have a very simple function like this:
Dim result = dataTable.Select(txtUserInput.Text)
With the filtered results I'd like to do further operations(e.g. Database Update/Delete).Is an sql injection protection needed or is the "Select" function secure?
//Edit:Can the "select" function be abused to manipulate any data in the datatable, execute code, ...? If the only danger is that this function can return to much/to less data there is no problem. But if the data in the dataset gets corrupted it's a real problem.

I have a datatable and I apply a filter to the defaultview.rowfilter property of that datatable. If I then loop through the rows collection of the datatable, will I only be able to see those rows that the filter applies to, or will it loop through all the rows?

I have a datagridview bound to a datatable setting its datasource property to the datatable. I would like to have a child form that contains a list of columns associated with the datatable that contains a checkbox that will allow the user to hide and show the columns ( I do not know the best control to use here) (I assume this is the easy part as All i need to do is loop through each of the datatable's columns to get the column name)
now I would like save these visible columns on some event like form_closing so that the next time the user opens the form up it will remember the settings

I believe that the correct way to give a property a default value is to use the Default Attribute on the Property.[code]In the property window, the value that's displayed in a grid's property bag when it's newly dropped onto a form is False, not True. It does recognise that the default value should be True because it shows the value as bolded and then de-bolds it when we manualy set it to true - but it doesn't respect the default as the initial value. Is there any way of getting the property bag to respect the default value?

Here is the stack trace:
2012-03-16 19:15:09Z E System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at System.Timers.Timer.set_Enabled(Boolean value)
at System.Timers.Timer.Stop()
Here's the code:
Timer declared as private member variable.
Private _myTimer As System.Timers.Timer
Initialize timer method.
[code]....
The timer has to have a value or else the Timer.Stop() call would be throwing the exception. This is a sporadic error and I'm just trying to see if anyone has experienced this before or if anyone has any ideas of what could be causing it. It is occuring in a WinForms application in the event handler for the Elapsed event of the Timer, but it is only occuring sporadically on the users computer. I haven't been able to reproduce the error myself.

i want to build a datatable where each cell has a list(of integer)
is there a way to force the table to add automatically a new empty list(of integer) in each cell every time a new row is created without adding this cell by cell ?
