IDE :: "Unable To Copy File The Process Cannot Access The File Because It Is Being Used By Another Process" Visual Studio 2005 Compile

Sep 21, 2007

When I load my solution and compile it after first starting the IDE, everything works as expected. After changing source and recompiling, I get the following compile error:

Error 11 Unable to copy file "objDebugCAMDRS.Library.dll" to "binCAMDRS.Library.dll". The process cannot access the file 'binCAMDRS.Library.dll' because it is being used by another process. CAMDRS.Library.

After closing Visual Studio 2005 and reopening the solution I can compile again successfully. This is an old solution that has been fine for a long time. I just recently changed computers and reinstalled everything.I am running win XP Pro sp2, Visual Studio 2005 sp1.

Implement A Non-cached File Copy Using 2005?

May 7, 2009

I have a program I wrote that copies select files from one remote computer to another.
The set up I for testing is, one computer(a) at home running the program connected to my work's network via VPN and two computers(b,c) at work side by side on the same network. I am trying to copy the files on computer b to computer c, while the program is running on computer a.

The only thing wrong with this is, the files seem to be caching to a temp folder on computer a then going to computer c. When it should be going straight from computer b to computer c. Is there a way to keep the files from trying to cache on the computer running the app?

VS 2005 File Copy With Admin Permission?

Dec 28, 2010

I'm having trouble with copying file with permission. In my program, my objective is just to copy a file to another directory, however I'm having some permission problems with "Access to path denied" error appearing when I run the program. I'm logged on in the computer with an Administrator account, and I kept having that error. I can manually copy the file, with UAC dialog box popping up. (I'm using Server 2008, I don't want changing UAC settings/permissions in the computer)

how can I copy a file to another directory, with an administrator permission? Is this possible? Can you give me a sample code.

Here is the code I used for copying the file.

Dim sourcefile As String = "C:Sample Path Location" & "thefile.exe"
Dim destinationfile As String = "D:Sample Path Location" & "thefile.exe"
System.IO.File.Copy(sourcefile, destinationfile)

VS 2005 - Advanced File Copy - Multiple Destinations

Jan 8, 2010

I found this program and am amazed: [url] The promises is simple: copy larges file, to multiple removable drives in one go (instead of creating one separate process per copy), in order to make the copy FAST.

Publisher comments: "Rapid Copy is capable of copying data to the several destinations in one time. Lightning fast, Rapidcopy make backups and copies to up to 8 drives simultaneously." This was made using DotNet, since the framework is a prerequisite. Big Question: Is this REALLY possible? Does anyone here have an ideia on how this can be accomplished using VB.NET?

Locked File When Compiling ?

Oct 25, 2010

I have been using VB2005 for many years on 2 PCs. Over the last month I have been getting an error when I try to run the project from the IDE:

Error 1 Unable to copy file "objx86DebugBackup.exe" to "binx86DebugBackup.exe". The process cannot access the file 'binx86DebugBackup.exe' because it is being used by another process.
C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Microsoft.Common.targets 2324 9 Backup

My questions:

1. What has changed?

2. One thread I found suggested that it is a bug, but if true is this something that has been introduced recently (I'm not aware up updating VB2005 unless it happened as part of the general updates).

3. How do I get it back to where it was?

The file is actually locked by my own process, no other application can be using it. I've even tried it with a few line noddy program. I always have to come right out of the IDE, wait a couple of minutes and then go back in - a total productivity killer.

WebClient And Locked XML File (deadlock Error)?

Jan 19, 2010

Quote:

System.Exception: Transaction (Process ID xx) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim.

I suspect this

Dim webc As New WebClient
webc.DownloadFile(remotexml, targetxml)
webc.Dispose()

Then i am using the targetxml right after that:

Dim xmldoc As New XmlDocument
xmldoc.Load(targetxml)
etc.

It seems that xml file is locked by the first process (WebClient).
