nserting values from a datagridview into an access db. However the values are wrong. As you can see in the code, I've made variables to check what values are fetched from the datagridview, and those values are correct. But in the db there are other values. What's going on?The thing is some of the fields are run-time-created comboboxes and there are also datagridviewcheckboxes. But like I said, the values in the t1...t7 variables are correct.
Private Sub DataGridView2_RowLeave(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles DataGridView2.RowLeave
Dim Monda2 As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("select * from congregation", Moncon)
i seem to have a problem when i try to update a certain record in an Access 2007 Database. I have a small Access 2007 database with 1 table which has 3 Columns and several records. The 3 columns are RecordNumber (Primary Key and it is autonumber), FirstName(text) and LastName(text). What i am trying to do in VB 2008 is implement a search form which when you find a record you can update it. I do not have any problems with the search, but i cannot seem to edit any other record than the first one. For example i search for John which exists, if that record is the 3rd record when i try to edit it whatever changes i make (for example change that to James), the changes i make are made to the first record and not the current one. I tried a lot of things but nothing works, here is my code:
I have a XML file used for importing data into the database. But it does not check for duplicated values. Is there a way to prevent duplicated values to be inserted again?What is the procedures to do in corporate environment?
i have a Checkedlistbox in a windows form, and have defined 5 values in it.Also the form holds a datagrid in it. i have manually defined 2 columns in it.Now i would like to populate datagrid with some data according to the check list values selection. When any selection was done in the checkedlistbox, some data need to added to the gird.in case if i am ticking further selection, i need the datagrid to be inserted with additional values with the prior populated data.
being a beginner, i am not able to get any idea to get this worked.
Just sorting a value and displaying them with original values. Procedure is displaying the sorted values in msgbox but in place of the original values, it displays the original values again.
Public Sub FlagProb2() Dim Count() As Integer = {2, 1, 4, 3} 'Original Array Dim SortedCount() As Integer = Count 'New array for sorted values of original array Array.Sort(SortedCount) 'Sorting values For j As Integer = 0 To Count.GetUpperBound(0) MsgBox(SortedCount(j) & " , " & Count(j)) ' Displaying sorted and unsorted values Next End Sub
I am using VB.net (FormView and ObjectDataSource) and Sql Server 2005.
I want to get last inserted @@identity in table on FormView1_ItemInserted
Protected Sub FormView1_ItemInserted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.FormViewInsertedEventArgs) Handles FormView1.ItemInserted
End Sub My issue is that I want to redirect my FormView to readonly mode after FormView1_ItemInserted but for that I need to show the inserted record in readonly mode and that is only possible if I get my last inserted @@identity.
I have the following set of code for a Sub program. It's inserting a row into a MSAccess Database using data provided in the containing form. What I would like to do is grab the ID number of this added record so that it can be set for a property of a window that is invoked when successfully added. I tried looking this up but I get something about @@IDENTITY but it's using an entirely different way of connecting.
Private Sub CreateTournament_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles CreateTournament.Click ' TODO: Check the form for errors, or blank values. ' Create the tournament in the database, add the values where needed. Close the form when done.
With SqlDataSource1 .InsertParameters("Name").DefaultValue = fldName.Value .InsertParameters("Email").DefaultValue = Text1.Value .InsertParameters("tContent").DefaultValue = taLE.Value .Insert() End With
I now realize that I need to get the id (a Unique Identifier that Auto Increments by 1) of the record I just added.
say a user buys a 6 month subscription to my online app. Using c# or vb.net, How would I work out what the expiry date should be to be inserted into the database.
I've got a DataGridview I want to remove columns from as it greatly increases performance when I format the DGV. The first time I remove columns in a loop (using the removeat) property, everythings fine. But when I try to remove more columns in another loop, it appears to remove the wrong columns and displays the wrong data. In other words, it displays the wrong data and headers; and the columns it does show has headers and cells that don't match.
I have a button that inserts data into a database.With that button I want it to serve two functions.One for insert and one for clearing the textboxes after the insert is done.I did a little bit of digging around and her is a code snippet that i found online:
Dim ctrl As Control For Each ctrl In Me.Controls If TypeOf ctrl Is TextBox Then ctrl.Text = ""
i have 5 checkboxes in webform and textbox1... when i search the record using the date specified in textbox1 when i enter 11-Dec-2010 in Textbox1 and click on submit button then checkbox1, checkbox2, and checkbox3 will be disabled and unchecked .....
I'm going through an XML file of articles and the journalist(s) that wrote them. As we are adding the articles into _Data our datacontext we may come across a journalist that needs adding so we do this: [code] However subsequently we may come across this same journalist again and nothing is returned when we do this: [code] So it uses the code above again to insert the same journalist again.Once all of our inserts are done we do a submitchanges. At this point it has a head fit:INSERT statement conflicted with COLUMN FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FK_ articles_ journalists_journalists'. The conflict occurred in database 'blah', table 'journalists', column 'id'. The statement has been terminated.From looking through the sql generated in sql profiler you can see that it is trying to add some journalists more than once, this will fail as the name must be distinct. The subsequent records that are trying to be inserted with these journalists are failing as the journalist wasn't updated.Surely if I have a collection of journalists, add some to it and then look in my collection I should see all of them and not just the original ones.
I have this database and I need to load it with a visual basic form in Visual Studio 2005.The database has 6 tables and they contain wrong data that I must filter when loading the database in the form.
A quick example:First table is Category, which has 3 fields (id, name, description). In one record I have 2a for id (a numeric only field) and in other record I have m1lk for name (a string only field).
When I click a button I load the database into a DataGridView control. How do I stop visual basic from loading into the DataGridView control those records that have invalid data (like in my example).
I have try with SQL queries using WHERE and LIKE, like in
SELECT IdCategoría, NombreCategoría, Descripción FROM Categorías WHERE (NombreCategoría LIKE '[!l]%') AND (IdCategoría LIKE '[!abcdefghijklmnñopqrstuvwxyz]')
but it's really difficult to filter things like Angel* and P3ter and Hood8, all at the same time..
I am building VB.NET application that takes data from text files that are exported from a legacy DOS program. These are written to a datatable and displayed in a datagridview. Right now my code simply loops through the datagridview and inserts the data into the database (SQL Server). There is a requirement now that the client number must be checked before the insert to see if it exists in the database. If it does, then the value of one field (tax rate) is checked against the value of the field in the datagridview. If there is a difference, then the rate is to be updated in the database and the data that was in the database is to be written to a history table for audit purposes. If the client number is not there, then we are to do the insert (which is already written). I want to know what is the most elegant and efficient solution for this problem.
I need to compare what is in the database table with what is in the datagridview, update the history table for records that exist, and then insert new records.
I recently download/Installed Crystal Report for Visual Studio 2010 to work with Visual Studio 2010 Prof. Database from SQL Sever 2008 Express. Now my problem is when I run Crystal Report Viewer - Windows form : 1st message Database Login request and otherwise WRONG RECORDS DISPLAYING which I have not in my database table.
I have previously made a game in VB.I have created an input app where the user types in their name.(Like parental Settings)and how long they want app to stay open.I want the input app to first execute the second app then type info into appropriate boxes.But then close app after specified time for instance 5 minsYou enter text on web via WebBrowser1.Navigate Then "GetElementById" to pick the appropriate text box to drop data into. But how can i do this on vb for another app - execute app then enter text?
I would like to load a combobox with some values from an access database. On form load I load my information into a data grid view but if the user wants to add more information or edit what is selected in the DGV I will enable some text boxes and a combobox to show the selected data. I have not issue loading from the DB into the text boxes but the combo box has me a bit stumped. I have 3 columns in the database, periodno, start date and end date. I want to display the start and end date concatenated together. When the user selects a period and hits the button I want the dates to set a variable with the periodno that matches those dates.
I have a issue with my DataGridView. It's bound to a DataTable at form load. I have a sub wich handles data recieved from a serialport. Inside that sub I'm adding a row to my datatable. That works fine, but to make the row visible in my datagridview, I have to either click on the row, resize the form so that the DGV dissapears and then appears again, manually call DataGridView.refresh or something like that. Why isn't the DataGridView automatically redrawn when a row is added inside a sub like that? One solution is to add a timer where DataGridView.refresh is executed every second, but it doesn't seem like a good idea
I currently have a Binding Navigator inserted on a form. I also have various fields from a database which I'm using with my Visual Basic application.In my database I have a field that shows the customers id number. What I am trying to do at the moment is find a way to be able to search for a specific customer id and displays that customers information in a pop-up box as part of the program.
Here is my cn = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=BHgardeners11.mdb;") cn.Open() Try str = "UPDATE Products SET ProductCode = ?, ProductManufacturerCode = ?, ProductsTitle = ?, [Code] .....
If there is only one item in the database, then this code works. If there is more than one record then the error is produced that it is trying to produce duplicate values. This is down to the Primary key in my database which is the only thing that cannot have duplicate values. However, when I remove the primary key it has the predictable problem that it goes crazy and does weird things.
