I wrote a VB.NET windows service and I'd like to know if there is some library or something that will provide me with a very simple mini web server. If my service is running, I'd just like to be able to type, in my browser:

And have a status page popup. It will only be one single page and very simple html. Anyone know an easy way to do this before I attempt it on my own and over-engineer?

But I am not sure if this would really update the application.The application will download all the files from the web server, and replace the files in the directory where the program as been installed to. The user will restart the application.I am just want to be sure, because I can't replace the installed files with the updated ones. As the application will be running. View 1 RepliesI'm making a WPF form that has a large map as an Image in a ScrollViewer. It also has a mini-version of the map as another image. I want to make it possible to click the mini-version of the map to scroll the big version to a certain area of the map. So I need to do the following:
1. When moving the mouse over the mini-map change the mouse cursor to a square with the appropriate size to indicate what part of the map will be shown.
2. Scroll the big map to the appropriate section when the mini-map is clicked.

I need to write an interface to get data to/from our data files.
We have a low level class that holds field values for each record read from the files.
This just holds two values, the value read from the file (DBValue) and the updated value that may need to be written back to the file (CurrentValue).
These values may be any of the standard value types (integer, date etc) or a string.
Either value (DBValue or CurrentValue) may be null if not defined.
I have written the class to manage this data which works fine while option strict is NOT on.
But we have an office policy of having option strict on all the time.
When I put option strict on, my object value comparisons fail with the error: "Option Strict On disallows operands of type Object for operator '='. Use the 'Is' operator to test for object identity."
Question, how should I change the following code to handle option strict on ...

Bit of a long shot but does anyone know if it is possible (I said possible, not easy ) to create a file system mini filter driver in .NET? I'm assuming not but I don't really know of any technical reason why... just that every single example on the interwebs is C++.
I realise it would take me a very long time just to convert all of the functions and structures required to .NET before I even got started on the actual functionality of the filter driver itself but theoretically is it possible?

I have been trying to create an app that will do xor encryption. I have tried a few different functions but none of them seem to give me what I want. I need it to put the coded text into a 7 bit ascii string. For example if the key was a - 1100001 and the text to be encrypted was s - 1110011 then it would return 0010010 as the encryption. One of the pieces of code I tried to use

View 3 RepliesI am attempting to create a program that can do raw RSA encryption (performing the encryption without using 'Encrypt' and 'Decrypt') of a user's message that can contain a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and [,.;:'"()]. I've attached a screen shot of the application form.
Basically, the user will pick from a list of prime numbers from the first box and input them into p and q. They will type their message in the designated textbox and then hit <encrypt> which will encrypt using p and q and then show the encrypted message below. I'll leave out the Key box since that deals with the math behind the encryption.
The part I am stuck on right now is assigning a number to each one of the characters so that it can be encrypted. These numbers need to remain the same so that the message can be decrypted as well.
