I want to copy the txt file from one location to another location.
textbox1.text = Source file directory
textbox2.text = destination file directory
For Example
textbox1.text = "C:1.txt"
textbox2.text = "d:"
I want to copy 1.txt to d drive.
I have 2 save buttons on my form, 1 which saves all textbox contents to a .txt file, and 1 which saves a image capture of the active window to a jpg. Both work fine, on the same form i have 2 picture boxes which the images are loaded into based of a list box like so:

View 10 RepliesI have a program that uses IO.File.Copy to copy files from point a to point b. Its slow, which is fine because there rather large files. I was wondering if there is way to get an estimate time to copy a particular file(s).
Example: File a will take 1 hour to copy, File B will take 30 minutes to copy. Estimate Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes.

View 1 RepliesI have a form which has a ListView and buttons to add/edit/delete items from this list. It has a save & a cancel button. On pressing the cancel button, I want to revert all the changes that have been done in the current form. So, while loading the form I keep a copy of the original list like below.
backupMyListView = MyListView
In the cancel button code, I do the opposite.
MyListView = refMyListView
Whats happening is that, the original listview is never restored because everytime MyListView was updated, backupMyListView also was getting updated.
How do I restore the original ListView on pressing the cancel button?

im trying to create a text file with some details that ive put into some text boxes.I got on screen

2 buttons (which i would like to get their text from)and then 1 button to save details and exit.I got the coding place but i dont want a a dialogue box to come up i just want to save the stuf to a set folder location, will need to read the textfile to the same area, incase the user wants to change the data. I picked vb.net for this question since it's the only prgramming language I am fairly familair with, but if C++ or something else is more suited for this, I am willing to learn something new.What I am trying to do is:Retrieve text from database (this already works in vb.net) and copy it to clipboard Switch primary screen to the external application I want to work with (example: word or open office) Emulate key-press "Enter" Paste text and hit enter again Emulate key-press CTRL and then emulate a click on a pre-defined spot on the screen (like 500pixels from left, 740pixels from top). Save screenshot, using a second value from the database as the filename (the naming part should be easy) Emulate another click on another pre-defined spot Repeat for next text in database.I wouldn't know where to start, though. I guess the most important part of what I'm trying to achieve is; switching focus to an external application and emulate keypresses and mouse clicks on it.

I am attempting to write a playlist for my media player which is already built. I have found a way to build a playlist for it but it would be helpful if I could save the contents of TextBox1 to a text file without using the save as. I am trying to get over a user inputting a file name for the finished text file so is it possible to write the file c: est.txt without using the save as dialog? I have found that I can use a vbs program file which creates a playlist in a folder. I save the vbs file text to the textbox then save it as a vbs file in the playlist directory, then execute the finished file to make the playlist.

i made a vitual dekstop and i have a few problems that to be fixed. The first problem i have is that i have a picturebox as the entire form like the desktop background but the progrblem is that i have some group boxes over that picturebox box. How can i make so you can see throw the group box so that you can see the image behind it. And how can i save a picturebox image without a save file dialog
View 5 RepliesMy question is simple (the answer may not be...), What I am looking for is a way to save a file as an encrypted file (so know one can open it except in visual basic or a way to save it with a unique ending that only visual basic will recognize. I will also need to know of a way to open or load the file to.
This is going to be used in a game I am working on (and yes...I know visual basic isn't really meant for games, but it is coming together pretty well). I was originally going to have it save as a text file, but then everyone could open, read it and even change there stats. That is what this file will contain, the stats for their character, and when they load it, it will place the values into the correct spot.

I am on the last stage of my web automation form for my business and now all it wants me to do is click "Run, Save or cancel" in the normal IE download file popup. I've got an app which uses a background worker to copy files. It works fine but some files are quite large and it "appears" as though the app isn't doing anything. Is there an alternative to the File.Copy method of copying files so I can report on the progress of individual file copies, like the percentage complete?
