Is there a way to stop other subs from running while in a separate sub.
for instance say your in the sub
CreateNumber()
and the subs are setup like
CreateNumber()
AddNumber()
DeleteNumber()
Is there a way to be in CreateNumber() and call a function to stop AddNumber from running after creaetNumber() is finished? i just want my program to sit there to wait for an event to happen.
Ive created a trial application , but how do i stop that application from running again on the same ip address? Just so the user cant re-install it and use it again.

which takes say 3 seconds to move from top to bottom and i have
move(lblfirst)
thread.sleep(500)
move(lblsecond)
how would i make it so that it moves 500 miliseconds after the first one start to move, not 500 milliseconds after the first one finishes?
I tried application.doevents with a looped sleep and raiseevnet, none is working.

Just wanted to start out by saying that I am completely new at this whole programming thing. I am pretty sure the answer is very simple and staring me right in the face but I can't figure it out.Basically, what I want to do is check to see if a directory exists and if it does not, then create it. I'm trying to use the Fade In/Out subs. Currently the fade in works perfectly. The fade out is the one I am having problems with. In my form's closing event:

I really think the problem is when it is calling for a "new object", but I don't know what to put in place of it to just work on the old object. I wanted to see if anyone has a solution to this issue, or perhaps an alternate solution that fades out just as nicely as the fade in.
What i have to do is write a program to display multiplication table when a number is put into the textbox and it prints out multiples of 1-12

I am trying to access a datatable created at form load from a sub created for a button click. I get the message 'dt_ShoppingBasket' is not declared for the following 2 lines.[code]If I move the creation of the Datatable into the button click sub then the problem goes away. I have a page where the page loads with the code as shown below. Pretty much every other sub on the page uses the variables gFilename, gPicType and gPicPath. In every other routine I have to go through the process of recreating gPicPath (as per the if/then block in the code). How do I create these variables ONCE, and then store them so that all the other subs can access them?

Using Visual Studio 2008 I am trying to create two subs using the same handles:

As these both use the same handles one sub overwrites the other...... Both subs contain If statements. Do I need to create two different handles... and how do I do this so that the handles use the same buttons?
I don't mean to sound unintelligent, but is there a way to insert your functions and subs into visual basic and call them from and program made in visual basic? I don't want to have to put the code in over and over again.

It contains some public subprocedures.I call these subs from another form which opens from a form which is opened from FrmDrVouchers as a dialog.When I open FrmDrvouchers directly, everything works. But when I call FrmDrvouchers from another project which is also part of this solution, its public subs don't work when I call them from another (dialog) form.
Here is the code of the Button Click from which I open FrmDrvouchers:

I have an access database for steel members. Each table has a different type of member, and then in those tables, each size of that member type.
I am about to create a tool that draws these sections when they are selected, but as there are 12 different member types, I don't really want to have 12 different Subs for "Draw" that essentially do the same thing.

I'm currently programming a music software which plays notes which are listed. as timer ticks, the notes change and so it plays a different *.wav file. The problem now is that the previous sounds stops when a new sound starts. i want them to overlap each other until each one has finished. Code: my.computer.audio.play("file.wav")
View 30 RepliesI've been trying to create a timer that waits for another timer to finish with its coding and, when it's finished, executes a series of code before stopping itself.
This isn't the code for the actual program I wanted to implement this self-stopping timer in, but it's simple and has the exact same problem:

The idea here is that it's suppose to (using a timer) show the messagebox ONCE and ONLY once per button click. However, what seems to happen (despite the fact that I have 4 ways of trying to tell it to stop) is that the program creates multiple messageboxes until there are a total of about 49 messageboxes on the screen at the same time. I don't know if I'm using the wrong event (unlikely as Tick seems to be the only timer event) or there's a way of stopping the timer that I don't know.
I created a service in VB.NET and it runs fine on Vista, I can log off and switch users and the service auto starts and continues to run every time without fail.If I install and run the service on Windows 7, it will not start after a logg off/on or after I switch users.

I'm developing an interface for users that will allow them to enter data into a database without having to know SQL. Problem is, some one out there probably does.
How can I stop them from deleting/screwing with my data when they're typing entries within my text boxes?
For example, I don't want anyone to be able to type in DELETE * or any other kind of SQL statements in a text box to ruin the DBA's day.-Nothing to see. Move along.
I have a vb.net application which does some processing. This processing can take a while. The application doesn't respond until the processing has ended and then it handle all events (such as click on buttons) that the user has done during the processing. I'd like to add a "Stop" button so that the user can stop the processing at some point. How can I do that? Could threading the processing (which is done in a function of the application) be a possible solution?
I tried to add a button which change a boolean value and putting the code of the processing function inside a while statement based on that boolean value. However it doesn't work because the click event on the button is processed only after the end of the processing.
