I've been trying to open/show an application which is minimized to tray but without success.Sorry if this has already been discussed; kindly redirect me then.I've tried P/Invoke methods such as ShowWindow and SetForegroundWindow but these hasn't worked.

View 2 Repliescurrently my VB Skills aren't so good so bare with me here. application to be able to send keystrokes to another without having it popup. Like it should remain minimized, it shouldn't interfere with whatever you are doing on your PC while it sends the strokes. I received this request from some one else to do. So basically I just need to get focus to the application while it remains minimized and send keystrokes.
View 4 RepliesI have a vb.net program created in VS2008, winforms/desktop application. I have it on a timer event so that every 4 hours it rins some actions. When I minimize the application ot the system tray...after a seemingly random period of time....it will not maximize. It acts frozen however the program still runs and the timer events usually fire on time. I just can't get the main form back up to see the menus and interface with the program. I have tried doevents, refresh, getfocus etc... nothing seems to make it refresh.

View 6 RepliesI have an application I run on a netbook that is folded up inside a robot.Occasionally, something from the system tray will pop up unexpectedly. This removes the focus from my application I also thought there was a way (in forms properties in the vb6 days) that would allow to "run when minimized"? In short, I want this application to be running and nothing (asides an application error message) else getting in the way.
View 4 RepliesI have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.

I was wondering if it would be possible to write a vb.net application that would start minimized to the system tray and then assign a hotkey to this app, for example CTRL Shift and K, that would paste a date time stamp into what ever application was focused at the time.

View 10 RepliesWhile navigating to a series of sites at one site the WebBrowser control's DocumentCompleted EVENT is tripped and no other recorded Browser events occur after that. When this happens the hour glass cursor indicates the browser is waiting. From this point it take 120 to 250 seconds of wall clock time before the browser resumes. I am looking for a way to force an abnormal termination without destroying the control. I have tried "Stop", "nav to about:blank" repeatedly without success. How can I force an abnormal termination when the Cntrl is in a wait state?
Consider the following: The last known Browser event to be tripped is a Document Complete event; nothing else occurs after this. When this transpires the Cntrl is waiting.

I want to be able to detect when the user presses F10 or Ctrl+F10 outside of my program, and upon receiving the key press, it will send text to whatever they currently have selected (e.g. a text box). How can this be accomplished in the simplest way?

It is a normal windows form with a timer in it and in every 45 mins I am invoking a message box. I am able to make it work but the problem is that when the application is minimized, the message box is not popping up, it stays with in the parent form (minimized). How can I bring it up to the user focus?

Its working perfect and no errors...The problem is if I have the application opened and I do one of the followings:-Minimize the application-Change focus to another window like MyDocuments Folder, Internet Explorer or whatever I have opened.-It not only happens while in the VB.NET environment.Also to the final compiled executable.-Continue after verifying a variable with a Break Point (F9), just closes the application.-If I make the application form minimize through code it also closes the application (WindowState Minimized)

on runtime it gets all the apps and add there name and icon to the taskbar and when u click it I want to force it to restore itself so its no longer minimized.
For the click its probally something with CType, and I don't know much about the CType :(

I'm trying to make use of some functionality from an external app in my program.
My problem is this:
My program manages to start the external app correctly and I can even get the WinHandle correctly if I don't use "ProcessWindowStyle.Minimized" when starting the app.
If I start the app minimized, WinHandle = ProcID.MainWindowHandle returns a 0 and as I understand it, it's
because the app is hidden in the system tray.
How can I start the app minimized and then get the window's handle once it has been minimized?
I've tried various functions like FindWindow and BringWindowToTop but none of them seem to work.

From the main form, I am maximizing the second form and trying to pass a value to a toolstrip textbox on the second form then press a button on the toolstrip from the second form, I can get this to work fine, but where I am having a problem is
The button searches through a treeview, when I step through my code, I can see the value that I am passing, my code does execute, but the treeview is showing no nodes(but they are really there). At the begining of the code, I put a message box to give me a count of the nodes in the treeview, it shows 0, but I can see all 10000+ nodes. What the textbox is on the toolstrip is a search box. When the form is maximized, I can enter whatever and it finds it with no problems, but if I pass a value it doesnt find anything because the treeview is saying there are no nodes when there is.

One of the hurdles I have is that in XP, Vista & 7 when you click the Show Desktop button all of my note's windows get minimized and without a taskbar icon, it's not easy to get them back (at least not for a normal user) & I'm looking for a way to either right after the windows minimize I just have them all show again or if I can skip the minimizing message in the wndproc altogether

I wrote some code for a program I am making to take a screenshot when the program is minimized. Thing is something is wrong with the code and I am not sure what it is. Whenever I take a screenshot the program is taking the picture with the application up and not minimized.
So what I need it to do is minimize the application then take the screenshot and then reopen the program after its taken the screenshot. for the noob question but I am brand new to the VB and only been coding it in for less then a day.
