.net And Office Integreation Error?

Am attempting to run a macro in an Access Database from a vb.net application.
[code]...
Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to class type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.ApplicationClass'. COM components that enter the CLR and do not support IProvideClassInfo or that do not have any interop assembly registered will be wrapped in the __ComObject type. Instances of this type cannot be cast to any other class; however they can be cast to interfaces as long as the underlying COM component supports QueryInterface calls for the IID of the interface.Have tried, uninstalling, reinstalling office 2003, etc. and office 2003 PIA.FYI... Running Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition, 64BIT
Using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition.Have searched up and down google, tried all suggest items, none fixed issue.

I have been supporting vb.net application which worked fine with office 2003 but when one of my client upgraded to the office 2007.then we got a error like this after a bit of research ,i found that
"One possibility is that the file is corrupt (Access databases have a tendency to do that -- see
Article #2190 for a way to compact / repair the database through code). A more common reason is that you are trying to connect to an Access 97 database with Access 2000 or better drivers, or vice-versa. Make sure the server has the most recent MDAC (MDAC Download Page) and the most recent JET drivers (see Article #2342). Also, try upgrading your database to a more recent format (Access 2000 or better)."
may be my case is similar.the applicattion is working fine with the other users ,only the user who upgraded to office has got the problem.

EXCEL-VBA opens a COM-DLL that -at one place- refers to a class from a another NET-DLL. When the COM-DLL tries to initialize an object from a class (in the NET-DLL) i get an error that the methode get_ContentTypeProperties has no implementation. (--> attached file contains message).
I never created the method get_ContentTypeProperties, nor is it part of the interface i'm using. When accessing the COM-DLL via another DLL, to workaround EXCEL-VBA, it works properly.

[URL] using this method results in a modal dialogue box which the user must manually close by pressing end or debug or the VBA (and consequently the VB) code will hang.I am unsure how to get the message box to close.

I am not an expert programmer and am just getting familiar with .NET office automation. I have two questions:
1. For me to create word documents from my code on a server, does word have to be installed on the server? My test server does not have word installed. Is there a way to have the code open word on the user's machine in this case?
2. I am trying out some code for creating word documents. It works fine on my machine. However, when I try to run it on server it gives me an error.. "Cannot create ActiveX component." Is this a permissions issue or related to the fact that the server does not have word installed?

I am writing a WinForm app on Visual Studio .Net 2005 which will be a rudimentary "unit tester" for various MS Excel 2003 applications...basically, it will ensure the integrity of the VBA code which fires off in the event lifecycle of the workbook. As a test for a "unit test failure," I created a simple workbook which generates a runtime error at the Workbook_Open event in the VBA code (an intentionally placed out-of-index call to an array). I have no problem opening workbooks via the .Net WinForm using the Excel Object library. My problem is that the run-time error is not captured by the WinForm app -- instead, it throws the runtime error directly on the Excel thread which the WinForm app starts. Is there a way for the WinForm app leveraging office interop to catch that excel runtime exception?
I've tried encasing the call in a Try-Catch block using a general Exception a COMException (via the System.Runtime.InteropServices library) catch...I've also tried instantiating the workbook directly using CreateObject(sPath) and instantiating an Excel Application, then using that to open the workbook...all with the same results...instead of the .Net app catching the exception, the runtime error bubbles up directly to the Excel application. Is there any way, either on .Net or the VBA code, for the WinForm app to catch and handle an Excel run-time error?

I've automated quite a bit with excel and every so often one of these really annoying glitches pops up.I'm using Office 2003, all with latest service packs and everything, and basically I usually end up creating a lot of applications which automate excel, processing database information and exporting it etc, etc, etc.
I currently have finalized this most recent export process, which exports a moderately sized table into excel for the user to work with, but I wanted to adjust the printing area appropriately.SO, I set the PrintArea to the A1:K47 string, I set the FittoPagesTall/Wide to 1 and the Orientation to Landscape, and all of this is perfectly functional from my 2008 .Net 3.5 application. But in the open application window of the file i'm automatically creating, the page divider lines still show 4 pages of data. Now, I said to myself, i know that in the Page Setup Dialog I can set "Fit to Page" and it automatically adjusts the zoom factor (scaling) to fit the print area onto 1x1 pages.
The only property in the WorkSheet.PageSetup that appears to do this is the ChartSize property, but when I step over that line in the Application I'm debugging, I get the Exception:"Unable to set the ChartSize property of the PageSetup class"Now the only thing i've seen online about this error from Microsoft says it could occur when a printer isn't installed. That is not the case here.
I further looked up in the property and it said something about only being applied to "Chart Sheets" but when I try to use the workbook.worksheets.add() method witht the Type set to xlChart I get a com object disconnected from RCW error.NOw, I can manually go into the Page Setup Properties for the Excel Worksheet, and set the "FIt to Page" there, so How can I forcibly automate this exact same process without having to open the Excel APplicaiton.

We have currently upgraded our development machines to Windows 7 and Office 2007. We have a vb 2008 app that references 2003 Office components to use for mail-merging to word.We loaded up our app in the vb environment today and were instantly greeted with missing components/functions which are related to the 2003 Office components. We can update these to use the Office 2007 components/functions instead, however we are unsure whether after doing this our vb app will work with machines only with Office 2003 on. can machines with Office 2003 on work with our vb app that references Office 2007 components?

i was wondering if someone could give me the final explanation on what i might be doing wrong here.I spent a lot of time reading around the net and the forum about how to add Threading capabilities to a VB project.
Nos, i've got .NET 4 installed, and i've added the system.tsr and mscorlib.dll files as reference in, say, Excel 2007 (see screenshot). However, when i try to make a thread with anything as basic as "Dim Thread1 As System.Threading.Thread", i get a user-defined type not found error.Indeed, when i use the object browser to see what's in the System file, theres nothing remotely linked to any Threading, and in the mscorlib file, nothing under "Threading" either, just a few Thread related functions, but nothing defining a data type

I've made Add-in for Word 2007 in VS2005.It worked well with Word 2007 and now it works well with Word 2010 32 bit. However it doesn't work with Word 2010 64 bit. The installation is successful, but the ribbon button doesn't show up.
Do you have any experience with add-ins for Office 64 bit?

I have used VB.NET and Microsoft Offices Interop to create an application that will run on a server and will print files for different users. My problem is that I need to find a way to impersonate different users so that when MS Word opens and prints, the resulting print job is recorded under that user. I found this link that lets you run .net code as a different user - unfortunately it doesn't work with this code. The username recorded is still the user that is logged on the server.Code Removed by moderator. Any ideas how I can make the Office app I'm automating run under a different user to the .net program that is calling it?

I have a program in VB.Net that receives mails from Outlook, extracts attachments and inserts the attachments into a table through a query. I would like to put the query/queries in a Try/Catch block, but cannot do so as Outlook exceptions cannot be caught, and it gives me an error, and unless I put a very specific exception, I cannot catch it. Is there a workaround?
Edit:
Try
Catch ex As Exception
End Try
Exception is underlined and when I hover on it, it says: "Catch cannot catch type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Exception' because it is not in 'System.Exception' or a class that inherits from 'System.Exception'". This is affecting all my other code which I'd like to put into a Try/Catch block.

I have a project which opens a simple Excel file and populates it. It was working fine until this morning, when it has suddenly started giving me the error above: 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.I haven't changed any project references, or anything within the file itself. The references include Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel. The imports statement is there: importsMicrosoft.Office.InteropThe object declaration is also complete: Dim xl AsMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application which is the line that's giving me the error!
