I was thinking to put attributes on BLL classes properties which ever are mandatory and I'm successfully able to retrieve the attributes also. But, not I also want to check the value of propeties. How I can do that:[code..]
View 1 RepliesI am using Cecil to try to read my attributes properties:
[AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Method, AllowMultiple = false, Inherited = false)]
public sealed class TraceMethodAttribute : Attribute {
public TraceMethodAttribute() {
MethodStart = true;
[code]....
This is, I'd like this last block of code to check whenever the attribute applied to Main, for example, has MethodMessages set to true or false. From what I've seen, it seems like both attributes.Fields.Count and attributes.Properties.Count is set to 0. Why is it?
I am developing a web site which is basically used to display the properties and attributes of Active Directory users. When i enter a username it should show that particular users full details including : Login Id, first name, lastname, DN, account lockout status, disabled or not,password expiry etc. That is working fine. I also wanted to include USER ACCOUNT EXPIRY DATE, USER CANNOT CHANGE PASSWORD IS SET OR NOT, USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD IS SET OR NOT. Kindly help me to add the code for these 3 purposes. Below given os the current code which is used to display other all attributes and properties.

View 2 RepliesI have a lot of video I'm in the process of indexing and I'd like to gather information about the videos for queries and stuff. When I right-click a video and select properties, I can see a list of values under the summary tab: Audio Bit Rate, Sample Rates, Title, Comments, Duration, etc.

I am trying to read the attributes of xml elements into a class which is then added to an array (I've tried the same thing with a List(Of T). For some reason, the last element is put into all the array positions. There can be a varied number of FactorParam elements each represent a different parameter and its relevant values. If there are two parameters, both positions in the array ActiveAGMP.FactorParamsArray will contain the values for param2. Likewise, if there are three parameters, all three positions in the array will contain the values for param3.
<FactorParam name="param1" type="string" id="1" value="Close" />
<FactorParam name="param2" type="integer" id="2" value="20" />
<FactorParam name="param3" type="integer" id="3" value="10" />

Is this possible to use <Attributes> on a method in a Class extension ?Here is a Class A
Public Class Goblin
Inherits Monster
Enum goblinsRole
[code].....
Python has a setattr to set public attributes for any class on the fly.
So, how to do that with VB.net ?

The company has a Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate project that is written in Visual Basic. The project has several strings in the resources file (Resources.resx). One of those strings (VersionSuffix) contains "" when we are distributing a normal version of our product and "BETA" when we are distributing a beta version of our product. Most of the time we distribute a normal version of our product. Therefore, most of the time the resource string VersionSuffix contains "".
Recently, we attempted to distribute a beta version of our product. Therefore, we changed resource string VersionSuffix from "" to "BETA". However, it quickly became apparent that the resource string VersionSuffix was being used as the default value for several control properties in the form designer. For example, if I draw a rich textbox on a form then file FORMNAME.Designer.vb will contain the following.
Me.RichTextBox1.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(286, 306)
Me.RichTextBox1.Name = "RichTextBox1"
Me.RichTextBox1.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(134, 33)
Me.RichTextBox1.TabIndex = 32
Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix
We are unable to find anything anywhere that indicates that this resource string should be used as the default value for control properties. Therefore, we have no idea why this resource string is being used for this purpose. We would like to change the control property assignments in the designer from Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix
Me.RichTextBox1.Text = "" However, we don't know why these strange assignments are being made. Therefore, as soon as someone adds another control the problem will most likely return. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to prevent it from happening again?
I am experimenting with a transition from my application built in VB6 to vb.net. I know, about time. At the same time, i am making changes and improving upon the original. One area that I am working on is within my employee class. very standard class, nothing fancy. One change I want to make though is allow for an employee to be assigned more than one work location. Employee has (is assigned) Stores. In reading about collections, it appears they are different in .net (as they should be), but I don't know what the sytax changes will be to implement my changes.

How can we apply attributes to class fucntion using AOP in C#?I am slightly not clear in what context AOP should be used? As we can use AOP for logging purpose, security(Authentication), please suggest some other scenarios where we can take benefit of AOP.Is AOP can be use to share data among different running threads in application process?
View 2 RepliesI want to invoke a method on a class that i have a reference to. The method that I want to call has a custom attributes. Currently I can find this attributes and call the property of my class Attribute.
is there a way to invoke that method ?
PS/ The project is written in vbnet, but I think the solution is the same in c#.
I'm just curious why class/property attributes in VB.NET have a weird optional syntax such as:
<TestAttr("a", "abc", Optional1:="foo", Optional2:=3)>
VB.NET allows you to set optional parameters like this to avoid order restrictions (which is lovely) but in this case it's forcing you to that.For example this is not possible:
<TestAttr("a", "abc", "foo", 3)>
even though the parameters are in the same order as the original definition.
I have an API that I created and currently utilize successfully in C#. I am trying to create an example of interacting with the API in VB.NET (so that the QA without C# experience can still utilize it for creating automated tests).
In C# I do the following
[TestingForm(FormName= "Land Lines", CaseType= _caseType
, Application= ApplicationNameCodes.WinRDECode, HasActions= true)]
public class LandLines : RDEMainForm
[Code]....
This gives me a compile time error because it claims that FORM_NAME and CASE_TYPE is not defined, even though the class has it defined inside.
How can I use the defined constants inside the class in the class attributes?
I am trying to retrieve the Attributes of a class's property specifically. So for example. Let's say I have a class called "Employee", and a custom attribute called CustomLabelAttribute with a string value. What would I need to do to retrieve the value of CustomLabelAttribute for Employee.FirstName specifically? I assume I will need to use reflection, but it's kind of new to me, and I've just recently started using it on any level.

This is another one of my "I think it's not possible but I need confirmation" questions.I have a base class for a bunch of child classes. Right now, this base class has a few common properties the children use, like Name. The base is an abstract class (MustInherit)Technically, this means that everytime a child class is instantiated, it lugs around, in memory, its own copy of Name. The thing is, Name is going to be a fixed value for all instances of a given child. I.e., Child1.Name will return "child_object1", and Child2.Name will return "child_object2".
View 1 RepliesI have a class in which some of the fields are also classes.I can put values in the "normal" properties, but in the others when o try to assign values it gives the: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"But the code compiles fine.

Simple thing, well, I think it is.I need to Add a class to an element within an asp:repeater under certain conditions, using VB.
So, I can do
ITEMID.Attributes.Add("class", "classToAdd")
But this removes the existing classes and therefore screws up my CSS.

I wrote a function that copies the properties of one class to another so make a copy of an object.So something like
MyObject myObject = myOtherObject.MyCustomCopy(myObject)
where myObject and myOtherObject are of the same type. I do it by bascually doing
myObject.prop1 = myOtherObject.prop1
[code]....
I am pretty sure in the past I used a .NET object that automaticaly did this, by reflection I guess, but can't remember it ... or an I imagining that such a method exists?
I have two user controls that need to add a class atribute to the body tag of my page, however they currently over write one another if I just use Body.Attributes.Add("class","value") So I need to check if the class attribute exsists and if it already contains the value Im going to add.
If Not Body.Attributes("class").Contains("value") Then Body.Attributes.add("class", Body.Attributes("class") + " " + "value") End If
EDIT: The contain constraint doesnt return the expected value, resulting the the class not been concatinated, Example: add class "dog" then I a different instance of the same control tries to add "dog" but the contains("dog") returns false
i wanted to ask how to make picturebox1 ,to which functions are already assigned, perform the same function as picturebox2 ,to which no functions are assigned.For example:I have already made picturebox1 and have assigned it alot of function like when play button is pressed then picturebox1.visible = true and when we press pause button picturebox1.visible = false. So now i decided to make a theme and have to remove the picturebox1 and want to allow the picturebox2 to havefunction of picturebox1.But when i disable the theme the function of picturebox1 should go back to picturebox1.
View 6 Repliesas you might guess from the variable names I'm making a game (but this problem isn't game related!) which involves multiple "bullets" moving along straight trajectories. This is my attempt at changing my code for firing one bullet into one for firing many bullets at once. It works perfectly except for one thing.The class I made (BulletClass) to contain all the things needed to move the bullet isn't setting all of its properties correctly. I apologise for the walls of code however I wasn't entirely sure whether I should chop bits out. I wanted to colour code my code so that you could scroll through and see the subs where things have gone wrong, but apparently I can't even code a new thread. Let alone a video game. Instead I'll just list them, you can search for them if you like or just scroll through at your leisure.
[Code]...
In a nutshell: the properties TargetPosY, TargetPosX, ShipPosX and ShipPoseY are not working properly. As a result the calculations involving them are skewed and the bullets always travel directly downward.
What is a driver module, and how would I add a class and get the driver module to read from the class.
View 2 RepliesI working on one project I wanna to make app which can read info from video file like Bit Rate, lenght, frame rate, etc..
View 5 Repliesive been trying to read video properties of an avi file (to start with). im trying to get the length, width, audio, bit rate etc.
Trying to get these details [URL] Im trying to display a few images based on this information in the interface (pic below) [URL]

Heres my code

I've got a Dictionary collection of a certain class with dozens of string properties.i'd like to create a datatable from this info and map these properties into Datatable columns, and for each member of the dictionary maps it to a row...
i could type out column names based on the class properties, but thats a bit specific and hard coded.
What I want to do is something like
Dim mytable as datatable For each string_property as property of myclass Dim column as new datacolumn(string_property.name) 'column add to table etc Next I'm unfamiliar with how to do this, maybe the Reflection classes are useful - perhaps the guru's can point out an efficient solution?
Is there a way to clear all the properties in a class, because i have a class where all my properties were stored, can i clear all those in just a short code?
