I am trying to read the attributes of xml elements into a class which is then added to an array (I've tried the same thing with a List(Of T). For some reason, the last element is put into all the array positions. There can be a varied number of FactorParam elements each represent a different parameter and its relevant values. If there are two parameters, both positions in the array ActiveAGMP.FactorParamsArray will contain the values for param2. Likewise, if there are three parameters, all three positions in the array will contain the values for param3.
I cut my programming teeth on QBASIC so apologise if I'm a bit behind the times. I wrote a program in QB and I'm trying to convert it to VB.NET. One stumbling block I've hit is the DATA & READ facility, there does'nt appear to be an equivilant in VB. I want to read a list of data into an array using a FOR NEXT loop.
These are the directions for the assignment.So far I am able to get the file read and printed onto a list box.The book we have for the class does not clearly talk about using the array of structure method with formatting an imported text file.After that I'm pretty much having a bit of trouble with everything else.I know I can figure most of it out but what I'm having a big amount of trouble with is the array of structures that he wants.I know that when I have the file imported that I need to save it temporarily and go through it and at every ":" put it in an array and save that spot and then keep scanning through the file. I know it is going to be a for loop using the index to count through but I'm not sure if how to start it.This is how the text file that he wants sorted out looks.
I have a lot of video I'm in the process of indexing and I'd like to gather information about the videos for queries and stuff. When I right-click a video and select properties, I can see a list of values under the summary tab: Audio Bit Rate, Sample Rates, Title, Comments, Duration, etc.
I need to access a list of attributes as follows.I'm drawing a curve named "CurveName". With Curvename I need to access the curve color, the data symbol etc.I tried this:

If I then want to refer to the curve color through cllCurveAtt(CurveName) I get an error because "Color.Red" is not a system color, it should be Color.Red without the quotes. But if I remove the quotes in the assignment THAT causes an error because since CurveName is a string, that color thing should also be convertable to a string. Catch 22.
I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist.When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible.When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement.When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
I am working on my first VB application and have run into a problem. I am trying to loop through some data and displaying them in labels. I am using a for-each loop but end up with different row with the same labelname. What I would like to do, is to assign a number to the labelname (mylabel1, mylabel2,...), but I canīt figure out how, and I cant find anything online that will work. I am trying to get a count of all the times a byte sequences occurs in another byte sequences. It cannot however re-use a bytes if it already counted them. For example given the string let's assume the byte sequence was k.k it would then find only 3 occurrences rather than 5 because they would be broke down like: [k.k].[k.k].[k.k]. and not like [k.[k].[k].[k].[k].k] where they over lap and essentially just shift 2 to the right.
Ideally the idea is to get an idea how a compression dictionary or run time encoding might look. so the goal would be to get down to just 2 parts, as (k.k.k.) is the biggest and best symbol you can have.
[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?

I have an array that has anywhere from 3 to 10 indexes. i cannot figure out how to select all of them and put them in 1 long string with out manually typing:array(0) & "," & array(1) & "," array(2) & "," and so on. I cant do it this way because i never know how large my array is.
I have created a customized list (by implementing IList) where I added a few special methods. Sometimes (but not always), I only want to expose this list as read-only. To do this for normal lists, I use the Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyCollection wrapper, which works fine typically. But it seems by passing my customized list through this wrapper, my added methods are no longer visible, which defeats the whole purpose of having this customized list object in the first place. How can I create a read-only version of a customized list?

In web service I have function that return bytes array. Now, I call it from VbScript and I need to catch result of this function. How I can catch result of this function in value that is gone be like a value that function return (bytes array)?
I have included my code so far below which doesn't work. I keep getting an error message with the New XmlTextWriter("C:myXmlFile", Nothing). Also it wont allow me to enter the element value from the array. Also when I stop running it and check the xml file it wont allow me to view - error XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/myXmFile.xml'.
