Dec 1, 2011What I am doing is iterating through all the groups that belong to the top group (Generic reports). Then I take advantage of the GroupPrincipal.GetMembers(True) which will recurse through a given group name. I test to see if the user exits under that group and if true I put the group name in an arraylist.
I use the for each principal in GroupPrincipal.GetMembers to loop through each returned user to see if they exist.
Is there a way to put all the returned users Principal.Name from a given group in GroupPrincipal.GetMembers into an ArrayList? This would allow me to to use Arraylist1.IndexOf to search for user. Which would be much faster then iterating through a returned list using the for each construct.

Program That Will Compare Array Of Grocery List Items Glist And Array Of Coupon Item List
May 27, 2012I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist.When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible.When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement.When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?

Mar 20, 2012I want to create an array of an array (or arraylist of an arraylist) to hold strings.I want to fill an array1 with string values Then add this array to array2. - but only taking up 1 row in array2 e.g something like array2(index)=array1 Then clear array1 then loop through this again with different data, and add it to the array2.so will end up with something like
array2(0)... contains a collection of array1 data
array2(1)... contains a collection of different array1 data
.. and so on
i think i need to make new instances of array1 each loop, but not sure.I dont mind if it uses arrays, or arraylists, or lists, or structure of arrayslists?

May 25, 2011i read data from a textfile into a one dimensional array (string()) and refer to that later on to build a new list with just the lines i want. using chartData as New List (of String) I can load the List collection just fine. Now, I want to send the output to a table so I can bind it to a datagrid. using Split and AddRange breaks the one dimensional data up into new rows but I want this sort of thing:
"Row0 Cell0"->"Row0 Cell1 "->"Row0 Cell3";<line break>
"Row1 Cell0""Row1 Cell1"Row1 Cell3;<line break>
Note I provided for characters that can be used in a split function (-> and vbTab), which works, but the split in the List gives me a one dimensional array.

I am able to get it to do both but when I add an item to the list, convert to a range and then convert back to a list it leaves off the last items I entered.I tried to work in a code to select all cells but I must not be putting it in the right place.This is what I have so far:

Oct 26, 2011This is probably a really basic question - but I have a list of items (custom objects) being passed from one winform (.net 3.5) to another. I want to create a local list to store changes that only get persisted if the user clicks save. Currently if the user clicks cancel - the changes are still applied in the first form because I assume the objects are reference type.I have the save working as it calls a service layer to do the save and then refreshes the other form - but not the cancel.

Find A Substring In An ArrayList, StringCollection Or List(Of String)
Jun 7, 2010I've got some code that creates a list of AD groups that the user is a member of, with the intention of saying 'if user is a member of GroupX then allow admin access, if not allow basic access'.
I was using a StringCollection to store this list of Groups, and intended to use the Contains method to test for membership of my admin group, but the problem is that this method only compares the full string - but my AD groups values are formatted as cn=GroupX, etc....
I want to be easily able to determine if a particular substring (i.e. 'GroupX') appears in the list of groups. I could always iterate through the groups check each for a substring representing my AD group name, but I'm more interested in finding out if there is a 'better' way.
Clearly there are a number of repositories for the list of Groups, and it appears that Generics (List(Of String)) are more commonly preferred (which I may well implement anyway) but there is no in-built means of checking for a substring using this method either.
I've settled on using a List(Of), and I've borrowed from Dan's code to iterate through the list.

Row has 2 properties, Key (a String) and Cells (an ArrayList).
I need to be able to sort each Row within Rows based on a developer defined index of the Cells ArrayList.
So for example based on the following Rows
Row1.Cells = ("b", "12")
Row2.Cells = ("a", "23")
Rows.Sort(0) would result in Row2 being first in the Rows list. What would be the best way of going about implementing this?

For example, a list of airport codes retrieved from the dataabase could be used on 5 different forms. In VB6 I placed the information into a Public Array. I'm looking for the best way to load and make available without hitting the database 5 times. After researching I found arraylist might be the way to go. My problem...I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly and not sure how to make the call to get the data out of the list.

C# - Count Occurences In Byte List/array Using Another Byte List/array?
Jun 20, 2011I am trying to get a count of all the times a byte sequences occurs in another byte sequences. It cannot however re-use a bytes if it already counted them. For example given the string let's assume the byte sequence was k.k it would then find only 3 occurrences rather than 5 because they would be broke down like: [k.k].[k.k].[k.k]. and not like [k.[k].[k].[k].[k].k] where they over lap and essentially just shift 2 to the right.
Ideally the idea is to get an idea how a compression dictionary or run time encoding might look. so the goal would be to get down to just 2 parts, as (k.k.k.) is the biggest and best symbol you can have.

Then read it out and it should populate a ListView1 object.I know they are set correct, because the console tells me it's set ok.I know the sample would fill with the same item (a week to be exact) every time i add an item, but that's not the point.Also, is it possible to define the array without the index, i mean now i set it with (6) so it sets 6 blocks for strings, but I would like to be more flexible. I get an error when i try to add the Array TempArray to the List of Boolean TruthBool... The Error Says QuoteObject reference not set to an instance of an object.The Variables are declared like this

Array List Not Responding

The JobArraylist gets adresses from a database table and JobIDArray Gets the ID for those addresses.I'm populating a Combobox with the JobArrayList which is working ok.When I select a an address in the combobox I use the sectectindex to get the AdressID from JobIDArray.My Issue is when I have duplicate addresses the JobIDArray always returns the the ID for the last Address. not the select one.[code]...
